Who do you think of first thing in the morning when you wake up?
Who do you think of last thing before sleeping in the night?
Who comes in your dreams frequently while sleeping at night?
When you win a reward, get a bonus, or get something unexpectedly that
appeals to the mind, who do you think of first?
Who do you normally think of the most?
Who do you get sad over most?
Who do you cry over most?
Why?
Think about it...

External Illusion of Kal
"Oh Dharam Dass! The soul which is a part of God has been imprisoned
in this human body. This soul has fallen in love with mind which is
a negative power and it (soul) has forgotten its own Home and
Supreme Master (God)."
"KAL is very clever. He knows many methods to trap the souls. He
deceives them and swallows them."
"Under the influence of KAL a human being has forgotten his own
identity. KAL has put him under illusion and entangled him in
worldly pleasures. So he does all bad deeds. Though he was given
this human life to drink the nectar of 'Naam', instead he is
drinking poison."
"Kal has entangled people in illusions to such an extent that they
have totally forgotten their real Home. Kal has woven such a net
that now it is difficult to get released from it. These traps are
rituals and rites, scripture reading and worship, and performing
Yagyas (oblations). These have nothing to do with realisation of
God."
Kabir Sahib said, "If a person understands the tricks of KAL and
realizes that mind is the real enemy, then after getting initiation
he can conquer mind and come out of the cycle of 84."
"Illusion is like a deep well where there is all darkness. The mind
(Kal) throws the souls in that deep well and eats them up."
Internal Illusion of Kal -- Lower Kal-Light -- False Light
"When we collect the scattered thought and focus it behind the eyes,
we first see a light called "Sakha Jot" and then at that very place
appears "Jhilmil Jyoti". Showing these lights, Kaal arrests the
souls (Jeevas) there. The third "Jagmag Jyoti" or the Twinkling
Light is in the Thousand Petal Lotus region. Only the saints see
this Light. This is above the eyes and below the "Turiya Pad". This
real Light is known only to the saints." (Anurag Sagar)
Dharam Dass: "Oh My Master, during meditation, some persons see
Jhilmil Jyoti (flickering light). Which is that stage of meditation
where this 'Jhilmil Jyoti' is visible? Kindly explain to me about
that". Kindly tell me about the stage where this 'Jhilmil Jyoti'
appears as well as about the god who manifests there."
Kabir: "Dharam Dass, mind is the agent of Niranjan and performs in
our body just like Ashtangi (the primordial power) doing work of
Niranjan. This secret is revealed only through a Guru."
"Light at the region of Sunn is due to mind and various doubts
arising within are due to mind."
"Mind, created by KAL, rules over the three regions (Bhulok, Pata
Lok and Akash Lok). It has full control over them. It is not under
any other power. Only Naam (Word) can control it."
"Mind, created by KAL, rules over the three regions (Bhulok, Pata
Lok and Akash Lok). It has full control over them. It is not I under
any other power. Only Naam (Word) can control it."
"In reality there is only one Naam or Word or power but due to the
confusion created by mind, we recite various names during worship,
Since we have not recognised/realised our SELF, we are deceived."
"People worship various gods and goddesses to fulfill their wishes.
But to come out of the cycle of 84, we require the help of SATNAM
(Word)." (Anurag Sagar)
Initiation and Protection from Above, Following the Path of Sants
Kabir Sahib said, "If Naam or Word given during initiation is
manifested within and the Light emanating from It is seen, then all
ignorance goes and KAL cannot come near that soul since Word
manifested Guru is the Master of the whole creation. Till one hears
the unstruck Sound (Word) within, Kal in the form of a snake, does
not leave the soul. Caught in the illusions, the soul has forgotten
the Real Home. It is difficult to escape from the powerful KAL. Naam
(Word) is the only Power to control him. Just as a snake charmer
controls a snake by reciting a mantra, similarly Word given by Guru
can control KAL."
"Naam" is the remedy for all ailments."
Kabir Sahib said, "Kal cannot come near the power of Word and
Sumiran Bhajan."
"If a person adopts a Master and having faith in him, gets himself
initiated, does meditation with devotion then he can become a hans
(pure soul). Such an attainment is priceless. His Master (the
personification of Word) will take him step by step to Sahansdal
Kamal, Trikuti, Daswan Dwar, Bhawar Gupha, Sach Khand and after a
short stay, to Alakh, Agam and Anami Desh which is the highest
eternal Region, the Ultimate Abode."
"Oh Dharam Dass! If a person gives up all doubts, meditates
regularly on Naam imparted by the Master, and behaves in the manner
the saints behave and follows in their footsteps, that is, he
listens to the Sound Current within himself, then he can tread the
path of saints in search of the Highest Truth. There is a Sound
Current coming from the Final Abode and calling you to come. So if
you listen to that Call, then you can ascend like saints."

Radha Soami G
The Lord came to me like a dream one day and asked, "why do you
sorrow?"
I answered, "Lord my life is so full of pain, I can't face one more
tomorrow."
The Lord sat down beside me, and gently took my hand.
He said, "Let Me explain to you, and then you'll understand.
Each sorrow is a stepping stone you must surmount each day,
And every stepping stone you climb is a sorrow that's passed away.
The road of life is a mountainside, with crevices in which to be
caught,
But as you struggle on your way, I, the Rock, will lend support.
Every stepping stone you climb, makes spirit and heart grow strong.
Exercising character and faith, this road seems painful and long.
The way is paved with stepping stones, to uplift your heart and soul,
Though difficult, they aid your way, to a City paved with gold.
I know that you are tired, for I too have walked this way,
My sorrows did they multiply, but I cleared many stones away.
I left My Rock to lift you up, I left behind My story.
To give you strength to make your climb, to that special place in
glory.
And never fear, the Rock is here, you'll never climb this mountain
alone
Surmount life's sorrows, continue on, for they are but stepping
stones.

understanding. In all ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your
paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

Observe how the whole world is going adrift
in this world of existence.
Seeig the world in such a plight,
I have cautioned you time and again
that you have suffered the pain of birth ad death,
even tortures of hell,
in all four ages.
Life after life you have suffered this anguish
without fiding a moment of peace.
Through virtue and peace
you have endured great adversisties,
but you never sought refuge
at the feet of the Guru.
Now that you have been blessed with a human form
devote yourself to bhakti ad burn away your karmas
Your negligence will ot be forgiven this time
but will make you liable for puishmet of all kinds
Give up apathy,detach yourself from the world,
then prepare ad drik the ambosia of the NAME.
Be on your gurad against the mind
and serve your Master.
Radhasoami has revealed to you the sublime mystery

One smile
enough to blow away
years of misery
One smile
and I melt at your feet
One smile
and my heart bursts

One smile

One smile

One smile
and I know I am
taken care of
One smile
and my life fills with joy.

Promises and commitments
A man promised his Master that he will bring some cloth and stuff
back for him from his home. He went off to his home and as fate would
have it, the time to leave his physical body came before he could
return back with the cloth to his Master. He was caught in the Court
of Justice for this broken promise - even though it was his honest
intention to fulfill his promise but couldn't because he died before
it! He was spared only because of his Realized Master who came to the
Court to rescue him. The Realized Master asked Yama
"Sade sikh ko kyoon pakara hein?"
"Why did you catch my sikh (disciple)?"
Yama replied with fear "He didn't return with the stuff he promised
you".
The Realized Master sent the disciple to Sachkhand and yama couldn't
do anything.
We have made a commitment with our Satguru that we will meditate
daily . How can we break this promise? We have to give account of our
actions to our Satguru. The best gift that we can give to Him is our
meditation.

Simran
Simran should not be done in a haste. It should be done slowly and with
love and devotionm the names being repeated clearly and correctly. To
do it in haste or to regard it as an unwanted task or to go through it
merely as a routine leads nowhere.
Babaji's analogy is to treat the names as jewels you are handing to
your Master.

ACTION WITHOUT DESIRE
(Nishkarmta)
`````````````````````````````````````````
Action plays a great part in spiritual matters. Our body is
motivated into action by our mind. Whatever mental attitude we have,
becomes manifested in action. "Thought is the keynote of all success,"
was said by the great philosopher, Emerson. Therefore, the actions of
a person are governed by his thoughts. And good or bad actions are the
result of the good or bad thoughts which he entertains.
Consequently, a person becomes a good person or a bad one as a
result of his good or bad actions. And all this happens in accordance
with one's own desires. Actions, therefore, mould our lives in
virtuous or evil directions so long as we perform such actions with
desire.
All religions have laid great emphasis on desireless actions.
Bhagavad Gita, is replete with teachings of desirelessness or
desireless action. It says: "In this world one should take refuge in
God after
renouncing all desires & all actions arising therefrom."
Hindu philosophy also teaches tht in order to to attain salvation
it is necessary to get rid of all desires & the fruits of all worldly
actions caused by such desires. The same teaching of karmaless action
is contained in all holy books.
*The aim of human life is-
That a man should put his mind in yogic action.
He should have fraternal thoughts for all fellow beings
And should consider himself to be present in all,
While everything pervades in him.*
It is most difficult to understand the basic principles of karma
yoga. You will find tht an action can only be performed through
intention or desire, & without these no action can be executed(because
whenever a person acts, it is difficult for him to get rid of the
thought of reward or punishment).
If, therefore, a person wishes to perform a desireless action, he
can only do so by complete detachment from the world. The Gita also
says tht it is not possible to give up the outer actions so long as
the internal desires are not killed.
So long as a man has not achieved such state of desirelessness, he
should act & leave the results, of all his actions in the hands of his
Almighty Father. In tht way he will not be subject to the consequences
of his actions. In addition to this, he should engage himelf in
spiritual practise according to the instructionsof aperfect Master, b/
c when he has made some progress on spiritual path, his karmas will
begin to disappear.
Actually, all actions tht are performed under the influence of the
ego-whether good or bad-are equally responsible for the ties of
attachment which bind an individual to this world. Even in the Gita it
is stated tht good & bad actions are equally responsible for binding a
person. The fetters may be of iron or may be of gold, but both have
the same effect of binding. Good actions may temporarily give us a
reward in heaven, & bad actions may bring us the punishment
of hell, but the bondage of transmigration remains.
So long as a person consider himself to be the doer, he is weighed
down by the shakles of karma. A person who renounces all desires & the
fruits of all his actions, becomes independent of all actions & their
results.
A person who has conquered his mind will be able to control his
physical actions. One who is free from attachment & hatred is a
genuinely karmaless person. The Gita lays great emphasis on the ideal
of surrendering oneself to the Lord in order to become actionless.
*Whatever u do, whatever u eat,
Whatever u giv, whatever u worship,
Whatever penances u perform,
O Arjun, surrender them all to me,
Because by doing so u will be freed
from the consequences of actions
(u will be actionless)*
*And, traversing the path of renunciation,
U will attain liberation & will merge in me.*
A SPIRITUAL WORLDVIEW
`````````````````````````````````````
Human beings may be made of matter, but they also have a mental,
emotional & spiritual dimension. In order to realize wht they are & to
experience their full potential they need to develop all four
dimensions. These four aspects of being human may be compared to the
four tyres on a car. If one of the tyres is flate, the car does not
function properly. Most people dedicate a lot of time & energy to
developing their physical, mental & emotional nature. Often they
develop one at cost of the other two. But very few people have any
inkling of their great spiritual potential. In fact, many have no idea
this exist at all.
The secret to a meaningful life is to develop this spiritual
dimension. But to do this we need to reorient ourselves. This new
orientation towards spirituality will give us a new perspective, the
spiritual perspective. It will affect the way we respond to the world.
It will help us redefine the way we approach daily life, redefine our
values & priorities; & by doing so, we will get a truer picture of who
& wht we are. With a spiritual worldview we will better understand our
nature & its great potential. This understanding will then be our key
to deeper & more constant happiness by opening the door to a more
balanced & complete life. As the fish needs fresh water to live, &
lion, to thrive, needs the wild, so human beings, to be well & to
develop their full potential, need spiritual food & a spiritual life.
The key to happiness lies in bringing spirituality back into our
lives. The secret to a happy, carefree & fulfilled life is to make
spiritual growth our first priority.
Lack of coordination
No doubt, I am blessed to hear many spiritual discourses, blessed with
glimpse of living master many times, blessed with good company,
blessed with gift of initiation. But, still I am unable to realize the
omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent power of the Master. I am
unable to walk on spiritual path, not able to fly in to different
spiritual regions. Today, I have to think about this problem, as much
time have been passed after initiation.
If we really understand problem, the answer will come out of it,
because answer is not separate from the problem.
Human beings are able to walk only when there is coordination between
two limbs. Birds are able to fly when there is coordination between
feathers. Reason for my failure is lack of coordination between my
hearing and my doing, my saying and my doing. People of this world
consider me as a intellectual person as I am graduate/postgraduate.
But, I am unable to comprehend the gist of mystic teaching- `Doing
meditation`. The illiterate persons which regularly practice spiritual
exercise are much better than literate ones.
A man may talk like a wise person and act like fool.
A man of words and not of deeds is like a garden full of weeds.
I do not know how much spiritual discourses I have to hear to
understand that `Meditation is the panacea of all ills`. Knowledge is
a different thing and experience a different one.
Action speak louder than words.
Action of a man are best interpreter of his thoughts.
No doubt, the living master initiated me on the path. He is making
arrangement for my release from this web of illusion. He is restless
and is working hard. Even, I do not know about his ways and how much
pain he suffers for fulfillment of mission of my release. But, alas! I
am making arrangement for my trapping in to this horrible world. I am
increasing his work load as he comes for my release. I am behaving in
hostile way with my master. Is this called love?
Instead of following his single teaching of `Doing meditation`, I
usually become angry with him for not fulfilling my desires, my
aspirations, for not providing me the things I want. This is a deal,
not love.
The patient must combat the disease along with the physician.
Medicine left in the container can not help.
I use so much adjectives for master without realizing them and start
boasting or even slandering others that they do not know about path.
But, I have not found path by my efforts. Master has chosen me for
traveling on this path. Without his grace, nobody can even think about
primary objective of life, finding the path is a far away dream.
How successful would you be if you followed the advice you gave to
others?
Prove your love and zeal in actual deeds.
By his grace, now the solution is in front of me. Maintaining a
balance between saying and doing or hearing and doing will be the key
for my success. Much time has been wasted in futile pursuits. Now, is
the time for action.
When our destination is far away and time left is too short, we should
move fast.
RADHA SOAMI
OUR CURRENT SITUATION
``````````````````````````````````````
Who wouldn't like to be happy? The desire for happiness is one of
the most powerful fuels tht drives human life. Yet how many people
could say they ever really achieve it? Is it not a fact tht most
people spend most of their lives pursuing happiness in one way or
another? And they want their happiness to last. They search for it in
many places- in relationships, careers, making money, reading books,
going to movie, consuming alcohol, taking drugs, going out to eat,
going shopping, buying clothes & seeking power, popularity or fame.
Theseare basically things tht lie outside the person, imlpying tht
happiness is thought to be found through the outside world.
Sometimes, for a brief interlude, a person may feel he has achieved
wht he is looking for, but then the nxt moment tht feeling is gone. If
some sense of satisfaction is experienced through outside things, it
never last long-& tht's the problem. Sooner or later something else is
needed. A new source of happiness has to be sought. The mind tires of
wht it has & once again the person feels frustrated or feels tht
something is lacking. Once more he or she goes out into this world
looking for something new. If it is a new car tht brings delight, then
after a year the delight wears thin & it's just an old model tht does
not satisfy any longer. It is a the same with relationships, the same
with careers, the same with entertainment, in fact with everthing
money can buy & with all the so-called "thrills of life".
Now a person may then ask: Is there any joy & happiness in the
world tht doesn't change that will remain with me all the time?
Something inside may say: Yes such happiness is possible if only
things were different ... if only i get tht promotion ... if only i
would lose 20 lbs ... if only i could find the right person ... But
then, the world doesn't conform to wht we want & back we climb onto
the same old plateform of discontent.
So the nxt question one has to ask is: Is it possible we are going
abt looking for happiness in the wrong places? And to answer this,
one needs to answer another question 1st: who & what am I?
Take a lion & put it in a cage in the circus. Could you get any
idea of the animal's real potential? Take a fresh-water fish & put it
in the sea. Do you think that the fish wils servive? The one feel
imprisoned & suffer, the other will surely die, This is because each
creature, by its very nature, has specific needs. So wht are our needs
as human? Do we know our own nature? Only if we understand who or wht
we are, can we know wht will satisfy us. Is it possible tht we are
mistaken as to our real nature? Is this perhaps why we find it
impossible to stay happy for long?
Happiness
I want to be happy
A happiness that never ends
I want an end to the sadness
An end to the troubles
So that I have to never
Face them again
I have tried infinite things
I have tried wealth
I have tried family
I have tried fame
I have tried almost everything
Still I am incomplete
Still I am unhappy
Since I separated fromYou
O Lord!
I have had more bodies
Than I can count
I have been a slave of
Each one of them
Taking care of their
Wants and desires
Forgetting to feed the
Real me inside all of them
Sometimes I became
An atheist
Other times I was
A theist
In the form of a
Hindu, Christian, Muslim,
Sikh, Jew, Parsi, Buddhist or Jain
Always remained busy in
Practicing the rituals of religion
Thinking them to be
The source of happiness
But I still remained incomplete
I still remained unhappy
I forgot the real religion
That You had taught me
The real religion of
Worshipping You O Lord!
The real religion of liberation
From the cycle of
Birth and death
The end result of which
Is merging back into You
O Lord!
The source of unending
True happiness and blessedness
In the whole world, every person wants to be happy; everybody wants a
happiness that never ends. Every person also wants an end to the
sadness and troubled times in such a way that they never have to be
experienced again. Still, in spite of trying out infinite ways,
something or the other remains to be sought after and the person
remains incomplete and unhappy.
Since the soul separated from the Supreme One, from then on, it has
dwelled inside innumerable bodies and has been a slave of each one of
them. Sometimes atheist, sometimes theist in the form of Hindu,
Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Jewish, Parsi, etc keeping
oneself occupied in the unimportant rituals of the religions, thinking
of them to be the source of happiness, but still remains incomplete
and unhappy.
In reality, the only true religion of a human being is to worship the
Absolute, get liberated from this cycle of birth and death and to
merge back into Him from whom the soul got separated. If only one were
to realize this...
Maybe someday I will be like this...
If you say
It is night
Then it will be
Night for me
If you say
It is day
Then it will be
Day for me
If you say
Leave home
Become a saint
I will do so
If you say
Go back home
And start a family
I will do so
If you say
Leave your job
And start mine
I will do so
If you say
Come back near Me
And live with Me
I will do so
If you say
Go away
And never come back
I will do so
If you say
Eat meat
I ask you to eat
I will do so
If you say
Don't go to your
Near One's funeral
I won't go
If you say
Take care of your
Ailing parents
I will do so
If you say
You are a fool
I will think
I am a fool
If you say
You do this
I ask you to do it
I will do it
If you ask me
Give up my life
Jump off a cliff
I will do it
Since I came near You
I gave up my mind
Now everything You say
Is what I do
Still if you ask me
To forget You
As if I never knew You
That is something
I can't do
1.One does not become a Satsangi merely be being initiated. One must mould one's life in accordance with the principles of Sant Mat. Every thought, word and deed must conform to them. Actions speak louder than words. Thoughts are even more potent. A Satsangi's daily conduct must bear the hall-mark of excellence and must reveal that he is a follower of a True Master.>>
2.An ounce of practice is better than a ton of theory. What use is it to know the principles, if one does not live them? A learned person without practice is no better than a beast of burden carrying a load of books on its back. It is infinitely better to practice than merely to know. Example is better than precept. Ravana, the king of Lanka, was not only a learned scholar but was also the best commentator on the Vedas. His actions, however, belied his great erudition, for the stooped down to kidnapping the wife of another and as a consequence suffered the annihilation of his entire race.>>
3.A pure heart is most essential for spiritual progress. You cannot expect a king to enter a filthy cabin. Even a dog does not sit in an unclean place. How then can you expect God to enter a heart that is full of passion of lust, anger, greed, attachment and pride or egotism?>>
4.Our body is a temple of the living God. It must not be polluted by the intake of meat, eggs, alcoholic drinks, etc. Nor must falsehood, lust, anger, avarice, hatred, pride vanity, egotism and worldly attachments be allowed to have their sway. They must be swept clean to make it fit for His residence. >>
5.Never hurt the feelings of anyone. This is a sin which even God Himself will not pardon and it cuts at the very root of spirituality. We should not thrust our views on others. An attitude of humility should be adopted and we should always speak kindly.>>
6.Cowards never conquer. Sant Mat is a Path of the valiant. They enter the field of battle with their `heads on their palms' as an offering to the Beloved Lord. No sacrifice is too great to win the Fort (the Palace of the Beloved).>>
7.If you wish to tread the Path of the Masters, be prepared to surrender your body, mind and possession. Still your desires, give up attachments and be prepared to suffer taunts and ridicules. If you cannot bring yourself up to these ideals, you can hardly hope to succeed. You cannot and do not get anything in this world without having pay the full price for it. Its only a fool who tries to get something for nothing.There is no gain without pain.>>
8.The secret of success in the Path is "Bhajan, more Bhajan, and still more Bhajan." With Bhajan only for three hours, the scale will weigh heavily on the worldly side. You ought to become wholly and solely God minded. Throughout the day, no matter in what occupation you are engaged, the soul and the mind must constantly look up to Him at the eye center. >>
9.Happy is he whose want are few. The fewer the wants, the happier the person. "Who doth not want many things, is the king of kings." It is our wants that make us poor. One who has no wants is the richest person.>>
10.The Astral Form of the Master is so Radiant, Beautiful and Magnetic that, after seeing it, one does not find any other form or figure as beautiful in this world and so gives up all worldly attachments. A deep consum – separation from Him are most essential for His impurities. Only the desire to meet the Beloved remains.
11. Karmas are our actions or deeds and their reaction or retribution – a self-operating law of cause and effect, and retribution. None can escape the result of his deeds. We shall have to reap what we have sown.
1. If you want victory over the mind, surrender yourself to the Will of the Lord. Whether you wish it or not, the Lord's will shall prevail in all circumstances. Then why not resign yourself to it in the very beginning without wailing and crying?
2. Did worry ever help to solve any problem? It is born of confused thinking. Form the habit of clear thinking always and laugh away your troubles and sorrows. Even the devil himself can do nothing to a man so long as he can laugh. Does a laugh cost anything? It is as easy to laugh as to worry and fret. Only a little effort is required in the beginning. It becomes a habit after a time. Your worrying shows that you have no faith in the goodness of God or even in God Himself. Let Him accom! plish things in His own way rather than in the way that you desire. Try to adjust yourself to all that He does and you will never be unhappy.
3. Old age, health, poverty, richness, sickness, disease, wealth, learning, honor, dishonor and time of death are all pre-ordained while a man is in the womb of his mother. So a wise man never worries or frets or regrets anything.
4. Our love for the Lord requires constant feeding. Like fire, it is apt to die out without fuel. Bhajan and Simran is the fuel that sustains this fire. So never miss Bhajan for a single day. One day's negligence in Bhajan retards the progress of the journey by one month.
5. I cannot lay adequate stress on living a pure moral life. High moral character is most! essential for spiritual progress. Nam and Kam (lust) cannot exist together. They are as antagonistic to each other, as light is to darkness. Where there is Kam, Nam does not enter. And when Nam comes, Kam vanishes. A Satsangi should be an example to the world. His eyes should radiate purity and a spiritual fragrance should issue forth from his body. Avoid the life of sensual pleasures, and turn out desire for lust from your heart. A life of virtue, peace and contentment is possible only when you rise above the nine doors of the body. To indulge in sex pleasures and to expect to enter the Kingdom of Heaven is sheer mockery. For such a one that does shall never open.
6. Impure! thoughts are a great hindrance to spiritual uplift. They act as poison. Keep alert and immediately divert your mind from such thoughts. If you rub an itch, it will eventually become a malignant boil.
7. Much depends upon the type of food we eat. ³As we eat, so our mind becomes² and ³Our food makes our mind² are old sayings which are very true. Bad (Rajasik and Tamasik) food gives rise to bad thoughts. Pure (Satvik) food will develop pure thoughts. Pure thoughts will create good character, and good character is most essential for love of God. Without love of God, there can be no spiritual progress.
8. Always take pure (satvik) food. That food is pure which is earned by honest means, and out of which the right share is given to elders and to all whom it is due, which is light a! nd simple, and which is prepared and eaten in a happy mood, in a small quantity, after duly thanking the Giver.
9. Satvik food is that which produces tranquility(Pure) and pure thoughts. This consists of fruits, vegetables, milk that is not very hot and only in small quantity, butter, cheese, dairy products, honey,almonds, oats, wheat, pulse, rice, etc. It includes all simple light food in small quantities.
Rajasik food is that which makes the mind crave worldly activity. It consists of eggs, fish, saffron, pastry, salt, pepper and all stimulating articles, including tea, coffee and hot milk or any food in large quantities. >>
Tamasik food is that which produces sluggishness, anger, etc. It consists of meat, wine, tobacco and heavy and stale food or too much of anything, and, of c! ourse, all alcoholic drinks.
10.Thee should not eat for taste and the pleasure of the palate. The purpose of eating is to preserve the body, but now often do we take tasty dishes, regardless of the harmful effects that they produce?>>
We should eat slightly less than to fully satisfy the appetite. It is a good rule for the health of the body and mind.
11. When a man presumes that he can subdue the mind by his own labor and powers, the Lord makes all his efforts fruitless in order to kill his ego. When he falls into despair and realizes his utter weakness, then the Lord¹s grace and gifts are beheld by him.
12. We must strive hard to subdue the mind and put in every effort to drive away the evil qualities that overpower us. But, if after struggling very hard we still find that we have not advanced a single food on this long journey, we should not get disheartened. Master knows well that with our feeble hands and feet we shall not be able to accomplish this journey even if we were to go on traveling for a hundred thousand years. He wants to impress upon us that unless the Lord¹s grace intervenes, no one can walk on this path of immortality. When we collapse and fall, and have no strength left to struggle further, then Master¹s loving kindness and grace will carry us forward as a tottering child is carried in the arms by his mother.
Attitude towards Meditation
When we all sit in meditation, we are training ourselves to operate
from a perspective of accepting, letting go and being free. It is an
attitude of obedience to a power we have accepted as greater
than 'me'.
Our attitude in meditation should be to present ourselves to the
inner Master, devoid of purpose and agendas, with no expectations of
results or inner visions. Putting aside all worries and desires, we
surrender all preconceptions. With single-minded and gentle attention
on simran or the Sound, we are to become receptive to the way of the
Shabd. In time, the patience, devotion will be transferred to daily
life.
We cannot force the growth of the tree we have planted. The tree has
its own time to grow. Our job is to dig the hole, plant the seed,
cover it with soil, fertilize it, water it, protect it from pests and
take care of it everyday. That is the extent of our effort. The speed
at which it grows is not up to us. If we have this attitude towards
meditation, we will not obstruct the Master's work and the tree of
spirituality will undoubtedly grow and yield fruit in our lives. If
we try to speed up the growth of the tree without first properly
waiting for it to be rooted, then it can be torn up and destroyed by
the winds of Kal's world. If we try to hurry, impose our expectations
or force visions, then we will just be complicating the Master's work.
Only our concern is to keep our mind in simran at the eye centre, and
to be receptive to the Sound. For that, and only that, we are
responsible. It is for us to follow the instructions of Master and
leave the rest to him. Whether results appear in our meditation or
not, we will do well. Our part of the meditation is to keep our
attention in the effort, not the results. The effort is up to us. The
results are not.
The days gone by
On the positive side
The days I have been waiting
For what seems like ages
Are not far away
The days I spent most of
My time dreaming about
Are not far away
On the negative side
The day when the days
I have been dreaming about
Finish is also not far away
The day when I will be
Back in the state I am now
Is Also not far away
What am I to do?
Time comes
Time goes by
Days come
Days go by
Years come
Years go by
Have I changed with time?
I should look inside of me
And check the barometer
How far have I come along
How much I am different from
The days when
I started down this path
Time flies by very fast
It seems only yesterday
When I was a kid
With no worries in the world
Playing with my friends
All the time
Now when I think
Of the years gone by
Do I regret them
Or did I utilize them
Does my gray hair
Carry with it the weight
Of sins and wasted time
Or is it silvered with the
Wisdom and Love of God?
Special Moments - I
Huzur Maharaj Charan Singh Ji
In a question and answer session in Delhi, a disciple lovingly asked
Huzur Maharaj Ji the following question, "Maharaj Ji, I wanted to thank
you for your grace that you showered on us in this session and it has
been like a piece of heaven here. So it comes as a shock to realize
that in the next day or so, many of us will be returning to our homes
and leaving you. With that in mind, I understand you came to lunch
today and I missed it; I dont want to miss anyting so I was wondering,
will you meet with us on Friday morning before you leave Delhi?"
Huzur paused for a moment and looked towards the sangat and asked "How
many of you will be here on Friday morning?" Almost everyone raised
their hands. With a loving smile, leaning his head on his finger, he
asked the questioner, "So how would they let me go without meeting
them?"
Special Moments - II
Maharaj Jagat Singh Ji
Maharaj Jagat Singh Ji always used to drink cow's milk at breakfast
time. One morning, cow's milk was not available, so the helper,
Manohar, mixed a little water in the buffalo's milk to make it look
like cow's milk. Maharaj Jagat Singh could taste the difference and
asked, "Is this cow's milk, Manohar?" And Manohar assued him with great
confidence that it was. Maharaj Jagat Singh, with a slight smile on his
face, turned to Charan Singh (Huzur Maharaj Ji) and said, almost in his
ear, "And still he says I am all knowing."
RADHASOAMI JEE
Q & A Bombay 1988 Huzur Maharaj Charan Singh
The time we give for meditation is nothing but begging at His door
for mercy and grace.Instead of repeating set words for
begging,better to use that time in meditation,proper
meditation.Meditation itself is begging,itself is repenting for our
past sins,is asking for the forgiveness of the Father,is seeking His
grace.It covers everything.So whatever He thinks best of us,He will
give us whether we ask for it,or we dont ask Him. He will give to
you,you don't need to ask him at all.He is conscious of what we
need.He is more anxious to give than we want,than we demand.He is a
better GIVER but we are a poor RECEVIER.Why waste our words in
begging.We should use that time in meditation.That itself is
begging ...We are praying to the Father for his grace,for his
help,for his mercy,but we do not want to sit in meditation.We are
wanting and wanting everything without sitting in
meditation.Meditation pleases the Father...then we dont have to ask
for anything else.Worship of the Spirit is worship of the Father.No
other worship plsease the Father.This is something by which we
please Him,we get His happiness,we seek his forgiveness.
