Hi. I'm trying to get into rug hooking, but not
finding much locally. I have found kits online with
patterns and all the materials, but they are expensive!
$80.00 and up!
Are there other materials other than
wool that you can make a rug out of? Is that why these
kits cost a lot? Or is it because it has been dyed for
the kit especially?
Thanks!
Barbara
:-))

Is anyone else receiving these messages that have nothing to do with rug
hooking? I guess the best thing is to ignore them.

I did email the founder. She will be able to
delete these messages but I think that is the only way
it is able to be resolved. It's usually impossible
to actually locate the spammer.

Other lists

problem.

Lynn

Hello everyone,

I have finally gotten on.
There was some really strange things happening with me
trying to get in here.

I apologize for the recent
post content. I have tried to use the "Ignore user"
options, it's nowhere to be found. Then I tried deleting
the selected few and they aren't even in the member's
section. So I have contacted Yahoo, which I did first
because of the content, and am hoping to hear from them
soon about how to go about all this. In the mean time
I guess we will have to ignore it. I am doing the
best that I can do.

I got really sick at the
end of October which turned into bronchitis, which
then turned into pnemonia. After getting rid of the
pnemonia, I coughed for quite a while and kept getting cold
after cold. I have been fighting this for 2 months and
it's taken a lot out of me. I am truely sorry for
deserting you all. I didn't feel like getting onto the
computer.

On a different note, I am still working
on a small rug. Actually 2. One is a hanging for a
door. It was designed by my friend. It's beautiful and
I can't wait to finish it. The other is of a bird
in a tree with a tree house. I love the colors.

I hope everyone is enjoying there projects. I was
reading prior to getting sick and trying to see what
everyone was working on. My life has been pretty busy and
I have missed getting on here.

Hope you all
have a wonderful New Year. Happy Hooking (rug hooking
that is!!!!!) Shelley

Well, it's amazing what happens when you walk
away from something.

Eventually, after you come
back to it, you discover what you were looking for the
whole time. I was able to delete the messages. YEAH!
I'll put there names in the Ignore list, once I find
that and hopefully the problem will be solved.

I hope that everyone has a good weekend. I was
thinking it would be fun to have different questions on
here to get to know everyone. If you have questions or
ideas email me with them.

Take care all, I hope
that everyone is happily hooking their beautiful
rugs... Shelley

so, i have decided to start the new year with a
resolution to take some time each week to hook. i am hoping
to finish the 2 rugs that i have started by june so
that i can put them in the fair. i am sure that i
could have them done sooner, but this gives me a chance
to have a lot of time with them. i am soooo busy all
the time that it's hard to find time for anything for
me. of course there are other resolutions, but the
biggest is to take time for MYSELF. how about the rest of
you? are there resolutions...?

happy new year.

Hope you are feeling better. That stuff really
drags you down and I for one know how it is to be ill.
I never know from one day to another what is going
to be. I just try and keep going and hope for the
best. I haven't hooked for a while shince Christmas was
so busy but hopefully will be able to get back into
the swing of things soon.

You ahve a Happy New
Year and lets hope it is a better one for all of

Happy New Year Everyone,
I have resolved to
hook more, even if its just for a while each week- so
I have a pot of assorted wools cooking at the
moment (Marrying a whole bunch of navys, blues and grays
for a background). One of the stumbling blocks I have
when I think maybe I'll take the time to hook is that
I don't always have dyed fabrics ready for the
project. So if I can get some dyed ahead, I'll be ready
the next time the chance arises.
A Happy Year of
Hooking to you all,
Val

Thank you Shari,

It has been a struggle,
but I have really taken it easy. I don't know how it
has been where you are but around here in Eugene, OR.
and elsewhere people are getting cold after cold.
Plus there is this weezy cough that just stays around
forever. I just became suseptable and it turned into a bad
infection.

All's well now, just trying to get back into the groove
of life. My mom is coming today so after I pick up I
am going to hook until she arrives. :) The kids will
be busy making her things, so I am going to enjoy a
cup of tea, filled with wool. :)

Happy New
Year to you Shari, and to all of you.
Shelley

Hi Val,

Your idea sounds like a good one.
I get overwhelmed with which colors to put into the
rug next. Even while they are sitting next to me all
cut up. So I get up and just walk away. I am tryig
not to be such a perfectionist.

What are you
working on? I think anyone is a brave soul for dyeing
wool, I am to chicken to try. Plus I have kids at home.
If I dye it's usually a tea or onion peel dye. Or I
marry the colors together.

Keep us posted on how
your resolution works out and I'll let you know about
mine. :)
Shelley

I deleted it but unfortunatly it has probably
made it to everyone's email by now.

Yahoo has
no way of keeping certain 'names' out of message
boards, yet. Since these people are signing up and then
deleting their account I can't trace them and keep them
out either.

I am working on a way to make it
invitation only. I hope everyone is doing well. My life is
very interesting and I am beginning to look at the
challenges as areas of growth.

Anyhow, take care and
I hope that you all can continue to ignore anything
obscene (sp). I AM working on it.

Shelley

Shelley:
Glad things are better for you and
like you I can't give up, ever. I haven't been able to
hook much lately getting ready for Christmas. Then
like you about Christmas time I got sick with stomach
virus and it is still around today. Since I have other
health issues this is just another battle I go about
trying to win.

Life is never easy and I am not
sure we are suppose to have an easy life. We all have
to work hard for what we want to do life, but
without a stuggle life would be boring. I think it is
that climbing up that hill that gives us the strenth
that we have.

Oregon must be a lovely area but
I have not been that far up the north west. We did
live in California at one time in our married life.

I have been doing all sorts of needle arts in my
life and rug hooking is the latest. Have met some
lovely people and one not so nice person but as I always
say, you get one bad apple in a bunch sometimes and
you take that one out and go on. I have been able to
pick up some great ideas from teachers that I chat
with on line that really know their stuff.

We
are to leave on a cruise this Friday but not sure
with this stuff that I have been plagued with that it
is going to happen but we are packed and ready to go
just in case. If not, we took out insurance so that we
will take the cruise later or not at all since we were
going with other family members also.

Hope this
New Year has started off nicely for you. We got a
little icy snow, but not much but because we live in the
country and mountains of VA school is closed for the
country today.

Good luck with your
hooking.
Shari

Shelly:
At AOL where I am most of the time -
chat rooms are full of smut. The ones I go to are not
and they are quite nice but sometimes you get those
that have nothing more to do with their live than to
do such things, and it is usually a kid out of
school, bored tryig to be cute. I just ignore them and
that is what I suggest others do.

Hi Although I really like the slow, contemplative
nature of traditional hooking, I find myself quite drawn
to the rapid pace of hand tufting, or tool tufting
(ala Electric punch guns, etc.) Gloria Crouse is a
long time inspiration. Is there any out there like me?

Hi there! I'm a recent new member lurking and
reading posts. I also recently bought the speed needle
and a regular punch needle. My spouse is building a
frame so the backing can be tight. I have Gloria C's
book and vidio. I have not used the punch technique
yet. Just got in backing and am collecting materials
in anticipation of my frame. You are not alone
punching. I'm just not yet started.
Blue
