Maybe too much solilo and isa. But then again whatever was done would
have to have been done in such a way as to effect the whole group.

I am here.  In fact I have a question I have been pondering.  I have rune
cards, deck is known as rune magic.
Have only used it for myself, but works well.  Recently got soaking wet in
rain, don't know significance of that, but many ideas.  I dried them with a
hair dryer and they seem okay, small book too.

Would like to see more here, but of course realize we all have limited time.

Hail all!

OK, I will jump start the conversation a bit.

What kinds of rune spreads or layouts do most folks here use?

I use the Elder Futhark exclusively for divination (I use the Younger
Futhark for Stav). I tend to do a three-rune spread, with the first drawn
rune representing the past, the second the present, and the third the most
likely future.

I have used nine-rune spreads as well as some others, but the simpler
three-rune spread works pretty well for me.

I have some cards somewhere but also a few sets of runes.  My favourite are
'jade' but I have a nice wooden set, and a set made myself out of a piece of
food I found on a footpath alongside a wood - far less attractive but nice to
use all the same.

Rob

Hi, Rob!

I generally use a five rune spread if I'm doing one for a person or a situation,
one rune in the center and the other four at the cardinal points. The central
rune shows the over-arching theme or situation; the others are all subordinate.
The East rune shows the mental aspect of the situation, the South spirituality,
West is emotion and the North is the physical/financial aspect. If I have a
question of which path to take in a situation, I'll generally do a spread for
each option. I know this spread isn't "traditional", but my original teacher was
from a Wiccan tradition and this seems to work for me.

I will also use a three rune spread for a past/present/future reading, but I
don't do those often.

Rhonda

I use the Norns spread(as you do) and occasionally a "diamond" spread I learned
off a runes prophecy website. The first(bottom) rune is the issue , 2 middle
runes are the forces affecting the outcome and the topmost rune is the outcome.

I use a ceramic set which looks and feels like stone.  I bought the set in a
local shop here in San Francisco.,  I am very happy with it.

I doubt if there is only one way spreads can be done.   I tend to use the
three rune spread.  It helps me to stay more focused and to use my intuition
more.

The rain soaking probably won't hurt your rune cards.  Rain = water - a good
thing, healing, renewing, etc.

I've used some tarot spreads for Runes. There are a couple of books about Runes
that have several suggestions for layouts with the 'meaning' of each placement,
ie The Future, The Past, Unexpected Help, etc.

I'm still here on the list. Don't know why it seemed to fizzle out; it used to
be quite active.

I use a 5-rune layout when I want more depth to the reading. I'll try to find my
books later today and get back to you with some ideas later.

Thank you for your reply.  I also have to spiff up my Green Man oracle cards.
I dried them but they are kind of rubbery
Read online I can buff them with a furniture olishing cloth - I will try one
from the dollar store probably.

I wonder if those cloths with wood wax will work.  I thik I have some of
those.
will use sparingly.

I like that 5 card spread you wrote about will try.

I also do tarot and pendulum.  I have become very good at instant messaging or
chat room on blog talk radio
on one show answering questions for people.

If something like that happened to equipment I had, I'd perform a
respectful burial of the equipment then conclude that particular form of
equipment is inappropriate for me to use and perhaps make a replacement
from different materials. When divination equipment gets damaged I
consider it a message from the deities and act accordingly. On Wed, 30 Nov

For me it works sometimes not to follow "traditional" spreads other than the
very reliable three-rune spread which I use as the basis for any other more
elaborate one.  This gives me flexibility since I can ascribe my own intuitive
understandings based upon the reason for which I am doing a casting.  One of
the nicer things about the Pagan traditions is that there are no hard and fast
rules as to various ritual practices.

I use a few spreads, The 3 card spread; 5 card spread ; a spread That i
learned in a rune class from Kaedrich Olsen...kinda of an extension of the
5 card reading. And when i only want a guick "mood for the day type of
thing, just 1 card.
I also have some cards called 'Universal Cards' that i use in conjunction
with runes; they are just a card with 1 word and the definitions; both
literally and a spiritual one. The two decks work great together.

I also have Rune Oracle cards, and Viking Tarot.

My name is Francis. I have been a member of this group on and off through the
years - whenever I re-study the Runes...

I am trying to get to know the Runes in a more intimate way, but am wary of just
how close to get to know them. That is where I currently stand.

Can anyone relate?

Bye for now...!

Hello!

I'm AJ; I'm a student of the runes, so I was excited to come across a group
dedicated to Rune Divination.

I didn't particularly seek the runes, it's more as if they were repeatedly put
in front of me until I paid attention. :) Finally, after a while I said to
myself, "Ok...I think I should be learning the runes!"

Thanks for allowing me to jump in and learn from and alongside y'all.

I have a personals spread that I created (borrowed really) I took Freya Aswynn's
World spread and over-lapped it with Thorsson's creation theory... it works out
to be a 17 rune spread... (4 placements out side the circles 3 for the Nornir
and one for Freya) totaling 21 placements.. I use the Elder which leave me three
rune left over for special casting of a question or enhancers..

The 3 spread is good for quick answers... though I find many spreads to be
limiting... (which with the depths of the rune can be very useful for
interpretation)...but I find cast a great method for more general
information...less directed and more free forming.

Raven Kaldera has a great one for health diagnostics... and Oswald the
Runemaster if I remember correctly had some great Rune casting info... but
haven't been there in a bit..so that maybe old info...
