Christmas Eve in Prasanthi Nilayam - 24 Dec 2009
Source: sssbpt.org
Posted at 01:36:12 Hrs. IST on 25 Dec 2009

Joy knows no bounds when you sing your heart in praise of His Glory. On the auspicious Christmas Eve after an hour-long singing of His Glory in His immediate Divine Presence, the International Choir had an unusual word of appreciation, from none other than The Lord on whom, to whom “they” sung. Towards the end of the session, calling one of his students, Bhagawan asked him to announce that the songs sung by the choir were touching and made Him very happy. ..And after a two hour long session, the International Choir walked out of the hall with joy in their hearts that knew no bounds!
Christmas Eve in Prasanthi Nilayam - 24 Dec 2009
Prasanthi Nilayam, the Abode of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, brings to light a diverse perspective of the festivity called Christmas. As rightly echoed by Bhagawan in one of His Christmas Divine Discourses, the festivity is celebrated in its truest sense in Prasanthi Nilayam.Bhagawan, addressing a huge concourse of devotees from around the world during the 1998 edition of the celebration, exhorted: “True Christmas is celebrated only in Prasanthi Nilayam”. "Elsewhere people drink, eat non‑vegetarian food and make merry in the name of Christmas. But Christmas in Prasanthi Nilayam is celebrated in a holy atmosphere".
Christmas Eve in Prasanthi Nilayam - 24 Dec 2009
Christmas in Prasanthi Nilayam is unique not only because people of all religions join together to celebrate it, but also because it is celebrated in the true spirit of Christ in the Divine Presence of the Avatar, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. That is why people from United Nations across the globe assemble in large numbers to celebrate Christmas in Prasanthi Nilayam.

International Choir:
Christmas Eve finds a greater mention in the Christmas legend. The Eve traditions vary from country to country and region to region. The greater anticipation of the holy birth and its preparatory run make the eve a momentous one in the history of the festivity.
Christmas Eve in Prasanthi Nilayam - 24 Dec 2009
…and the Christmas Eve in Prasanthi Nilayam is distinctive over the years with a unique choir comprising representation of united nations singing His glory in His immediate Divine Presence. The overseas choir has been a part of the Christmas celebrations for over a decade ever since the wonderfully graceful Sylvia Alden from the United States was given the mantle by Bhagawan to conduct the show.
Christmas Eve in Prasanthi Nilayam - 24 Dec 2009
This unique choir for this year had over 950 voices singing a spirited collection of songs on His, of His Love....

Once Sylvia Alden took over presenting the programme to Bhagawan, the choir sang 18 hymns, precisely for an hour, presenting a disciplined devotional show of Love for their Beloved Bhagawan. Singing their hearts out, the choir used all the available adjectives heralding the glory of the “Born Little Divine”.
As sonorous notes from an array of musical instruments rendered the air, with hundreds singing in chorus, the sun in the western horizon slowly fading off giving way to a beautiful twilight, they sang…”Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee God of glory...” The choir sang and made it a befitting evening paying homage to the Master of masters while remembering His chosen son, anticipating yet another Divine Advent…a glorious Christmas 2009!!!
Christmas Eve in Prasanthi Nilayam - 24 Dec 2009
The compositions sung were, Christmas in Prasanthi Nilayam, Carol of the Bells, Silent Night, O Come all Ye Faithful, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Away in a Manger, Sanctus (Italian), Here I am the Lord, Jesus Born on this Day, Jesus What a Wonderful Child, Angels We Have Heard on High, When a Child is born, Glory Hallelujah, Turn Your Eyes, We Love You Bhagawan, Joyful, Joyful We adore Thee, Amen -Hallelujah and O Holy Night.

The Choir that was conducted by Sylvia Alden from the United States was ably supported by graceful Gisela Sebastian from Germany, whose glorious voice truly inspires the ladies to reach even greater crescendo. Gisela who has composed many a song for Bhagawan, lovingly went through the pieces, note by note, chord by chord and semi-breve by semi-breve while training the choir singers. The artiste who has been involved with music in Prasanthi for the past 29 years, whose demeanour talks about her greater love for God was involved in training sopranos (refers to the female singing voice range) for ladies and tenors (refers to range of men) for gents.
Christmas Eve in Prasanthi Nilayam - 24 Dec 2009
The choir that consisted of sopranos and altos for ladies, tenors and bass for gents was also assisted by various musical instruments, namely, harmonium, violins, saxophone, santoor, flutes, chello, guitars, box-drum, trumpet, drum-kit and accordians apart from tablas and naal and an electronic key-board. A unique instrument in the shape of a bird was used to produce typical bird-sound, that was generated while blowing “air-through”, perfectly matching the joyous occasion of His Advent, while singing the song, “Sai Baba You have come on earth....”

Some of the prominent names behind the instruments were, Gisela Sebastian (Ger) on Harmonium, Stanislav (Ger) and Golbert on Violin, Peter (Den) on Key-Board, Prem on Saxophone, Martina (Ger) on Santoor, Shira Taylor (Can) on Flute, Dorothea (Swiss) on Chello, Douglas Sanders (Newzealand) on Guitar, Adam on Drum-Kit, Sergio on Box-Drum, Mano on “Bird-Sound” etc.

The choristers had only ten days to familiarize themselves with 18 musical pieces – 17 of them in English and one in Italian - and many of the devotees do not have English as their first language. In addition, there were over 45 musicians and to add a final twist of complexity to this ambitious undertaking, most of the people involved were not professional singers or musicians. The troupe with their greater determination and love for Bhagawan has been practising 5-6 hours a day for ten days, skipping darshan sessions. Additional sessions for sopranos and tenors were also conducted fine tuning the entire show to make a perfect offering at His Divine Lotus Feet.
Christmas Eve in Prasanthi Nilayam - 24 Dec 2009
A beaming Sylvia Alden had limited words to share after a most successful venture of conducting a perfect show, under most testing circumstances, wherein she had to train these vocal cords, from varied cultural and racial and linguistic backgrounds, numbering over 900 in just about ten days. She said, upon reacting to our quest about her share of experience for the evening, “Sai, You are The Light of our lives” reaffirming the credit to the Master Beloved.

...and the climax came when Bhagawan called the student to announce that the songs that were sung by the choir were touching and made Him very happy... It was kind of “Oh! Ghosh! Does He really want a student to tell us that He is happy with our singing” was the reaction many of the choir members who exclaimed that the entire show was a “Perfect Show of Love”. Indeed the appreciation that came along most unexpectedly was received with awe and greater excitement and it would take time for these choir members to sink in with this ecstatic feeling.

The third block that was occupied by white clad men and women of International Choir was the reflection of this pure love, wherein their surge of emotional and devotional ecstasy was contained in their folded palms, fixed glare and glances that talked about their musings from within, Love for The Lord! The student was commanded to express grateful thanks to the International Choir on behalf of the University for their wonderful “conduct”. The student while praying for their turn on the Christmas morning for singing as well as their regular band display prayed that Bhagawan should bless them to come up with the best of their performance as was done by the International Choir.
Christmas Eve in Prasanthi Nilayam - 24 Dec 2009
Earlier, Bhagawan arrived to a fully packed Sai Kulwant Hall just after 16:30 Hrs. Wetting many eyes, filling and fulfilling many hearts, the gracious Lord moved through the assemblage of devotees in the ladies side to take a detour to ascend the dais. Soon after ascending the dais, the Lord lighted the special candles to officially inaugurate the Christmas celebrations. The entire Sai Kulwant Hall was aesthetically decorated with a specialised group of devotees from the US, from the Atlanta centre, working meticulously on the same for many days in the run up to the festivity.

Christmas Celebrations International Co-ordinator, John Behner was asked to announce the three-day Christmas Programme. While the Christmas morning programme would commence at 9 am. in His immediate Divine Presence the evening programme would be having two – three speakers including himself, who would be reading the report delivering vote of thanks to various hands involved in the entire Christmas preparations and the third day afternoon would feature an International Choir conducted by Alma Badings followed by a Drama on Life and Love of Jesus Christ, by name “Jesus comes to our Hearts” by Children from Latin American countries.

After the entire show that lasted for more than two hours, members of the International Choir walked out of Sai Kulwant Hall, gracefully, with joy in their hearts that knew no bounds.

Wednesday, Dec 23, 2009 - Fifth anniversary of Prasanthi Dance Group Introducing a Cultural Programme commemorating the fifth anniversary of Prasanthi Dance Group, Prof. Anil Kumar exclaimed: Life with Bhagawan is celebration; Life with Bhagawan is music: Life with Bhagawan is ecstasy and dance. It was ecstatic celebration of music and dance that was in store when a group of dedicated, talented and devoted students from Sri Sathya Sai University’s Prasanthi Nilayam Campus got the Divine nod to celebrate the anniversary of the group, “Prasanthi Dance Group” in His Divine presence on the evening turned twilight of 23 Dec 2009.

The programme was a dance depiction of Bhagawan’s oft quoted maxim, Daiva Preethi, Paapa Bheeti, Sangha Neeti - Love for God, Fear of Sin and Morality in Society, presented through Bhagawan’s own compositions (poems) intertwined and linked with tales of yore, picks from epics, namely, Bhagavata, Ramayana etc.

Entitled “Sathya Vaani – Nrithya Baani”, the programme had picks from rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Bharat. Dancing with dexterity, sense of devotion, with a touch of aestheticism the folk danced to the compositions of Bhakta Jayadeva, Bhakta Ramdas, starting with a Vishnu Stuthi after Ganesha Vandana, through Shuklambaradharam Vishnum, sailing through the Dasavathara Stuthi, depicting the crux of the stories from the ten Avatars through steps suffused with emotive expressions. Story of Lord Sri Ramachandra through Bhakta Ramadas composition, a tillana depicting the tale Bhagavata featuring Gajendra Moksha were some of the other numbers before singing a mangalam song for Lord Sai “Sri Sai Ramanikku Jaya Mangalam, Parthi Nivasinikku Shubha Mangalam”.

The inspirational story of this five year old dance troupe began dating back to year 2005 when a talented, well trained student by name Ganesh was given an opportunity to perform a solo dance during one of the cultural programmes. Impressed by the boy’s talent, Bhagawan had words of appreciation and encouragement and opined that “there is ample space; will be nice if more boys join”. Six more boys, pick of best of dancing talents from the entire Prasanthi Nilayam campus joined and they had the first group dance programme in the Divine presence.

The group was slowly evolving as, in 2006, Bhagawan asked Ganesh to train pick of talents from the Prasanthi Nilayam campus. The troupe’s onward journey was inspirational. “Swami used to guide us on the kind of songs, encouraging us to practice rigorously to perfection. Often Swami would indicate us to get ready before major programmes”, says Ganesh who has done M.Sc, MBA and a Post Graduate Diploma in Indian Culture and Spirituality.

The troupe would dance in white dress without any costumes in the beginning. When Swami started enquiring about costumes, the troupe had the first opportunity to have a “full-fledged” dance programme during the Ati Rudra Maha Yajna in Aug 2006. Ganesh, who has been a trained dancer in Bharat Natyam, Kuchipudi and Folk forms for the past eleven years have trained more than forty boys over the past 4-5 years.

The 23rd evening programme featured 25 students of the University, ranging from under-graduate to doctoral programmes. The hype and importance of the event was very well evident, when Bhagawan asked Prof. Anil Kumar to announce the programme, detailing academic background, place each student hails from etc.

After the programme the entire troupe was blessed with a coveted group photo session. Loving Mother Sai is, He asked them to go, eat and sleep well. Earlier, before the commencement of the programme Bhagawan blessed the entire contingent with “Divine pep-up talk”, bringing and building confidence in His wards.

The same group had offered a huge anniversary card to Bhagawan on the previous evening while praying to stage “their” commemorative show. Bhagawan was gracious enough to bless new anklets and dandiya sticks while blessing them to stage the programme.

At a time when Christmas preparations are gearing up, with a sizeable western populace camping in the holy township, the dance programme served as a pointer substantiating Bhagawan’s view on Bharat’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.

Tuesday, Dec 22, 2009 - Sri Sathya Sai University Management System Commissioned Posted at 01:09:09 Hrs. IST on 23 Dec 2009

On 22 Dec 2009, Tuesday, Sri Sathya Sai University had a special agenda with Bhagawan. The University’s newly developed ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system was blessed and commissioned by Bhagawan in a small function held in the bhajan hall in the evening at 4:30 Hrs.

University Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Controller of Examinations and the Principal of Prasanthi Nilayam campus were joined by a group of faculty members who had been working on the same seeking Divine Blessings on the memorable occasion. This ERP system would help in planning and designing as well for the entire University Management System.

Salient features and usefulness of the newly developed system was explained to Bhagawan with the aid of power point presentation. Prof. Anantaraman, faculty, School of Business Management, Accounting and Finance took the lead explaining the features in Kannada.

Bhagawan was the keen observer in the hall, setting Himself as an ideal. An interesting episode to depict the keenness of Bhagawan while watching and listening the presentation. As various quotes of Bhagawan came up in between the presentation, the professor read out one saying, "Swami, so much of quotes (about the purpose of the university) from the Convocations have been included here." Swami retorted, "I told that, not during the convocation, but during the inauguration of Anantapur College!" The Professor was humble in accepting Bhagawan’s version.

The schedule for the execution of the various modules of the UMS was also presented to Bhagawan and there was a collective submission and prayer to Bhagawan to officially inaugurate the same. As the name and password had been typed, Bhagawan hit the "Enter" key, pressing the UMS for the University into service. The University website that has been revamped was also presented to Bhagawan explaining features in short detail.

Various stakeholders who were involved in the making of the system and the website were blessed by Bhagawan with Paadanamaskaar. Staff members working in the University Administrative Block were also present during the occasion.

In the meanwhile Bhajans were on and upon completing the presentation Bhagawan came on to the dais, cutting across the upper verandah, blessing scores of devotees. As soon as He was seated, He pointed to a student and conveyed that He had noticed him in a photo during the presentation! The boy did not seem to understood then, but his joy knew no bounds when he realized the special Grace after the evening's Aarthi! The bhajans were on in full gusto and enthusiasm.
Top
During one of the bhajans, Swami told the singing student, "Sing Hanumath Sevita". (Praise the Lord as He is served by Hanuman). The next bhajan was "Kausalyatmaja Rama Charan" which indeed contained that line! As the bhajans concluded, Swami called the “Dance Troupe” (group of boys) which was holding a huge card for blessing, occasion being the 5th anniversary since the inception of the group. The elaborate and ornate card contained photos of their momentous moments when they had been blessed to put up dance programmes in the Divine presence. Bhagawan most magnanimously blessed the entire group sprinkling Akshata grains.

New anklets and sticks for Dandia were also blessed by Bhagawan. Posing curious He asked the troupe as to when they would be ready with their next programme, and pat came the reply: "Whenever Swami says." "Let us see on Thursday, was His reaction. As the boys returned to their respective seats, His hands rose in “Abhaya” Posture, conferring blessing to one and all!

Christmas is getting closer and the Christmas Flavour started showing up in Mandir as well. The Dais and the centre area along with the pillars were already decorated and one could see the Christmas Volunteers and Decoration team transporting decoration items to the mandir, as part of decking up His Abode and Prasanthi Mandir.

The Overseas Choir is steadily progressing with their rehearsal sessions, most meticulously done, resonating the Prasanthi air, purifying the same with hymns on the arrival of Baby Jesus and so were the little wards from overseas countries getting readied with the Children Choir.

As the evening was conceding to the twilight at Prasanthi, she was indeed sensing the Christmas flavour!

Drawing from the Fountain of Infinite Bliss

- The golden memories of an alumna of Sri Sathya Sai University, Anantapur campus.

By Ms. Veenavardhan

If bliss is a happy memory that can be revisited in the deep recesses of the heart for repeated enjoyment, without diminishing its power in the least bit, I am blessed to have a vast reservoir at my disposal. Having been among the first batch of students (1970-73) to have graduated from the Anantapur campus of Sri Sathya Sai University, I am blessed to have plenty of blissful memories to fall back upon, and soak my soul in this warm spring of pure joy from which I draw my strength to face life and all that it throws at me.

Conquered by the Deluge of Pure Love

swami
Divine Darshan in the yester years.... The Lord walks on the sands and drenches every soul with His sweet smiles

I hail from Cuddapah in Andhra Pradesh and currently I live in the city of Chennai in Tamil Nadu. When I studied for my Bachelors in Arts from what was then the Sri Sathya Sai Arts and Science College for Women at Anantapur, in Andhra Pradesh, I was among the very first batch of girls to reside in the newly constructed hostel building.

My parents wanted me to study at Bhagavans college since my elder sister V. Pullamma was a lecturer in the department of Economics at the college. Initially, I did not know much about Bhagavan. But as I experienced His parental love and care for each of us, His daughters, my love for Him and faith in His divinity grew on its own.

College Foundation Rests Solely on His Love & Sacrifice

It was His detailed attention towards our welfare that was impossible to miss. For instance, right into the program, Bhagavan realized the challenge that many of us faced coming from a non-English speaking background. He arranged extra coaching classes to help us cope with our studies.

swami
Swami in the Anantapur campus of Sri Sathya Sai University

Like a concerned parent, He visited us almost every week, traveling the 120 kilometre distance to and fro, just to ensure that we were well looked after, happy, comfortable and at home in our new surroundings. What sacrifices He made for our welfare! His love was simply the sweetest experience of our lives. We fervently counted days until His next visit.

Open Communication with the Divine Parent

Bhagavan encouraged us to be forthcoming in expressing our problems to Him. He told us, Do not fear the Principal or Warden. Tell Me your problems. Be bold, bangaru (bangaru means gold a term of endearment in Telugu) about what you want, and ask Me. You all have left your parents and come here. It is My duty to take care of you.

So in all simplicity, we asked for fans to be installed, troubled as we were by the arid and hot weather of Anantapur. The very next day Bhagavan got fans fixed in our dining hall, making our meal times a lot more enjoyable. Like a doting mother, He sent pickles, sweets, fruits and such goodies for us. Bhagavan became our ever-smiling, ever-loving, ever-caring mother. So pure, gentle and sensitive was His love and concern for us that the progression of our bonding with the Divine Mother that we found in Sai was natural and unstoppable.

During the times He came to visit, which was almost every week, often for overnight or a few days, He spend the mornings in meeting with the staff. We the students could not help ourselves from hovering in the corridors of the college building, waiting for the meetings to conclude. Then we could interact with the Lord who had now become the only goal of our lives.

Divine Draw Irresistible

swami

Evenings with Bhagavan were the most memorable. We gathered around Him as iron fillings are drawn to a magnet. We were all one big happy family with our Divine parent, seated in the centre, ever willing to fulfill our childish fantasies. I remember how we used to ask Him to sing bhajans of our choice. He always obliged!

Ever so sweetly He belted out such numbers as were most popular with the students then:

Chitta chora Yashoda ke baal, Natavaralal, Govinda Krishna Jai and Sathyam Jnanam Anantam Brahma .

After the bhajan singing session, Bhagavan used to dine with us. He often enquired if we were getting the same quality of food always or if the good food was a special treat because He was visiting us? We just could not miss His parental concern and love for us. The cup of our joy overflowed too many times over and our Sweet Sai became to us our divine mother, father, friend and guide, all rolled into one. The experience was just heavenly.

you must learn to conduct yourselves well in the world after you leave the portals of the college.

Cosmic Comedian, Playful Teacher

swami

At times, He made us laugh our heads off with His great sense of humour. His divine comedy shows included the time He insisted that a young lecturer, who had just got married, tell Him the name of her husband.

As it is not considered proper etiquette for a wife to utter the name of her husband in some traditions, she simply blushed and lowered her head. Bhagavan then mischievously coaxed her, I am asking you. Wont you tell Me? At last, she relented to His pressure tactics and told Him the name of her husband ever so softly.

Immediately the playful Swami teased her, Dunnapota, (or buffalo another term of endearment in Telugu) can any lady mention her husbands name? We all laughed merrily at her discomfort as Bhagavan pulled off the trick so sweetly.

Homemaking - the Highest Spiritual Discipline

Ever the teacher, in His light and serious moments, He taught us life lessons that have stood the test of time through the four decades since. He told us repeatedly that you must learn to conduct yourselves well in the world after you leave the portals of the college. Emphasizing the vital role that women play as the thermostats of the spiritual and moral climate of their homes, He urged us to strive to be good homemakers first, and to bring a good name to our parents, in-laws and college, before venturing into other ambitions. First things first, He reminded us, because, when all is well on the home front, life will flow and expand with greater ease beyond the home as well. He knew that by educating girls, He was educating the entire family on how to live a values-based life.

swami

Bhagavan taught us to integrate spirituality into our practical lives as homemakers, telling us never to undermine the significance of this role. He explained it by giving us easy-to-relate-to examples on how one can actually follow the paths of action, devotion and knowledge, all at once as homemakers.

He said the path of gyana or knowledge came into play in the very act of cooking a wholesome meal for the family, as one had to know which ingredients and in what quantity to use for making the food healthy and tasty. If knowledge of balanced culinary skills was indicative of the Gyana Marga (path of wisdom), then the very act of preparing for the meal, and cooking it was Karma Marga or the path of action. Finally, the path of devotion or Bhakthi Marga is easy to follow through if one thinks of God while cooking, and offers the food to God as prasadam or consecrated food for the family members that consume it, seeing them as the incarnations of the same divinity. Then to serve it, one must be loving and ever smiling, happy to have the privilege to be doing so.

When undertaken in such a spirit, the seemingly simple act of cooking and serving a meal becomes the highest spiritual discipline. Swami explained how the role of a homemaker offers great chances for spiritual growth. He also told us that a good homemaker fosters devotion by organizing devotional and service activities.

Surprise Visit, Fresh Apple - Did I Dream it Up?

SWAMI

Personally for me, the most memorable experience of my student days goes back to the time when one day I had to wrap my head around an unexpected Political Science test for which I was totally unprepared. So for some last minute cramming, I retreated to the quiet college building early one morning. It was a Thursday, and I was wearing a white saree as we all dressed in white on that day of the week. Stressed and panic stricken, I was engrossed in serious studying when I suddenly heard a soft, sweet voice saying Virisina mallepoovu which means Blossoming Jasmine.

And lo and behold it was Him! Bhagavan had arrived in the college just then, totally unannounced and was standing right next to me, just as it typically happens in ones dream! If that wasnt enough, He then proceeded to materialize a delicious apple and gave it to me. My joy knew no bounds. Even today, when I think of that moment, I find myself lost in bliss. Sometimes I wonder if it really happened! I later ate the apple and shared it with everyone else. Then Bhagavan advised me to go and inform the Principal and the Warden that Bhagavan had arrived in the college.

Now you know what I mean by this reservoir of bliss that I dip into every now and then to refresh my soul.

Coming Home to Prashanthi Nilayam

SWAMI

If His love and caring for us made Anantapur our home away from home, then Prashanthi Nilayam was definitely our second home to which He invited us for all the major festivals. We had many chances to participate in the various service activities as Bhagavan constantly told us to open our hearts and broaden our minds by performing acts of selfless service. We worked in the canteen joyfully and to endorse our efforts towards self growth, our divine Sai treated us to sweets, ice creams and fruits.

We celebrated His birthday with great joy. Those images are etched in our hearts of Him coming in a procession early in the morning along with the chosen mother Eswaraamma. The blessed mother and senior ladies applied the ceremonial oil on Bhagavans hair.

I remember He used to wear yellow in the morning and a white robe in the evening, as He sat on a swing while playback singer and devotee Mrs. P. Susheela rendered devotional songs. Those days of the birthday celebrations felt so heavenly that we didnt realize how time flew by and we used to return to Anantapur with a heavy heart.

Life Deals a Different Hand at Each Turn

While I enjoyed such close contact with the divine Lord Sai during my student days, life dealt me a different hand afterwards. Later, for a period of 20 years, I could not come back to my home, my Prashanthi Nilayam! I did have an occasional darshan of Baba at Bengaluru or Chennai but not much else. Then one night I dreamt that He came to my house. I was confused as to how I should receive Him. He said to me: You need not do anything. Take padanamaskar (salutations at the feet). You have got higher sense.

swami

After this dream, I have always felt Bhagavans guidance in overcoming the problems of my life. And these solutions come through different channels; it can be intuition, books, timely advice through elders and so on.

No Season, Reason or Location for His Love

Six years into my marriage, Swami finally blessed me with the experience of motherhood. Once it so happened that I was at a function at the factory where my husband worked at that time. I prayed to Bhagavan to bless my child. Just then a roll of paper fell from the sky and landed next to me. After a moments hesitation, I picked and unrolled it. I was astonished to find a 10 by 10 inch picture of Bhagavan lighting a lamp. I cried with joy. His blessings in the most unexpected of locations lit my childs life. To this day I treasure that precious picture.

After many years, I took the leap of faith and decided to continue my education. I wanted to get a Bachelors in Education degree. As I anxiously awaited my results, my son brought me a picture from his friends mother. It was of our dearest Bhagavan with the words Why Fear When I Am Here. I felt a resurgence of confidence and calm.

Once when my husband was sent on a military mission to the troubled state of Jammu & Kashmir, I was very worried, since I was unable to contact him for many days due to stormy weather. I prayed hard and heard Bhagavans voice assuring me You are going to get a call, dont worry. Within a few seconds, the telephone rang and sure enough it was my husband on the line. All was well with Bhagavans grace and compassion.

Today, after a gap of 20 long years, finally, it looks like He has tested me enough. Now, for the past 12 years, Bhagavan has given me the opportunity of visiting and serving in His divine abode Prashanthi Nilayam.

Additionally, I feel so blessed to serve as His instrument as I assist the visually impaired by being their reader and scribe. It is as though my tender-hearted parent is making up for the two-decade long exam He put me through. I pray that this shower of His love and presence in my life continues forever.

When I try to say it all, I realize how inadequate words are as a medium to express my deep and loving gratitude to Bhagavan for His presence in my life. I shudder to think what and where would I be without Him! In being His daughter I draw my sense of self-worth and that is all that matters to me.

SAIRAM

Sai Baba supports Everybody with Love & Understanding.

The very basic teaching of Baba has always been "Shraddha & Saburi"...how much do we follow it and until unless we learn to follow this very basic teaching of Baba, how can we ask him to grant us what we want.

Baba always answers one's Prayer's if he feel's it is for the good.
And he will make things happen only when he feel's that the time is right ie,
when one is Karmically ready to receive what he had Prayed for.

For example, the Sun rises at its own fixed time, you cannot sit at mid-night and pray for it to rise at mid-night itself...and even if you do pray...the Sun will rise at it's own fixed time...you will just end up praying till it rises !!!
As, mother nature knows whats right for all...so everything has been set by Her for a smooth running of this world.

Likewise, all events in one's life have been already Karmically set and they will happen when the time is right.
For some people life goes smoothly and fast while some have to drag it out but eventually one gets
only what has been set for him or her.  Prayers do help to ease out things and also hasten them up but not erase them in totality.

So continue to pray to Baba...but never insist for what you want as Baba is so sweet that for his love for you, he might sometime just grant the wish to you which in future might not be favorable for you in some manner. As a result, later one you might repent and again blame the almighty for your sufferings ?

So, Pray with an Open Heart telling Baba about your problems BUT never ask him to sort out the problems in a manner which you want, instead always pray to Baba to do whats he deem's to be in the best interest for you and all so that you don't regret it later in your life.

One never knows what Baba has planned for us...let him do it as he Will's & when he Will's

Sairam,
rOhit beHaL

CHAPTER 35

Some kinds of love are experienced by you to stay for a lifetime, and some kinds of love only linger, just to teach you of life itself. The love you experience can elevate you and then can disappoint you to doubt if love itself ever existed. Love exists on a physical plane, on a mental plane, and on a spiritual plane.

Behind the physical plane of love, lies emotion, passion, contact, lust, comfort and the actual feel of presence. This is merely the love of the body and attachment to a particular form. Behind the mental plane of love, lies selfishness, greed, anger, fear, envy, jealousy and control. This is the love of desire that wants to feed the hunger of the ego, that needs the "I" to be served constantly as king, and this kind of love controls to suffocate the divine spirit that lies within. And then, there is the spiritual plane of love. Behind this love, lies only the acceptance of all as God. This is the love that ignores the defect of the body, that buries the evil of the mind, that leaves the "I" behind, forever. This love serves God with the joy of knowing Him to be all pervasive, all good, all pure, all loving, all compassionate, and knowing all to be His glory.

Despite the barriers of your mind, intellect and ego, you are able to experience a minute fraction of divine love. What a pity, My dears, that this little ant hill of love seems to satisfy you and prevents you to further investigate in allowing this love to grow and flourish. Your false concepts of love have closed your hearts, have made your minds narrower, and have frozen your intellects to accept the true love.

Truth is the link to love, for where there is truth, love, there, is real. So be the lawyers that represent only truth at all times, and only then, will your practice be the success of love. Body exists, but the belief that you are the body is the untruth. Mind exists, but the fact that the mind is the reign to control you is the untruth, for it is the mind that needs to be controlled. The self exists, and is the only truth and the only true love. The self remains unattached to the body, uncontrolled by the mind, unaffected by the ego and lives eternally as the seeker of truth, and with this unlimited knowledge of life - of living life, to love, with love, and as love!

Thought for the day as written at Prasanthi Nilayam

December 25th, 2009
Sai Baba picture -Thought for the day as written at Prasanthi Nilayam

When Jesus was born three wise men followed a star to reach his place of birth. Seeing the new-born babe they bowed to the divine child in their hearts. One sage told Mary: "He loves God." The second sage said: "God loves him." The third man said: "He is God." What is the inner significance of these three pronouncements about Jesus? The first statement implies that Jesus is a messenger of God. A messenger may love his master, but the master may not so easily love his messenger. The second statement implies that he is the son of God, for a father loves his son most dearly. The third statement proclaims the unity of the Father and Son. It means that as the Son of God he is entitled to ascend to his Father's place.

Prasanthi Christmas

Christmas morn, the world is born
Anew in Love for Sai the Lord
Countless flames shine bright, so bright,
And fill the sky with heavenly light.
Glad sounds of joyous praises fill
The air with happiness and still
More joy awaits the watching ones.
For, yes indeed. the Lord, He comes;
With Blessings Pure, Boundless Love
He showers on devotees from above.
He is the Moon, He is the Sun,
He is the Father of the Son.
The world has waited many years
For Him whose glance removes all fears,
And Peace and Joy ripple out in waves,
As we sing the praise of Him who saves
The world from doubt as to the Truth of Man,
As He unfolds His Glorious Plan;
To lead all people to tire One,
The Source, the end, the Infinite Sun.
Hallelujah! all praises be,
To Sathya Sai, for we are He!

—Phillip Cottingham, New Zealand.

When God descends on Earth

Bells rang joyously to announce
The descent of the Divine Child.
From the celestial skies
A shower of flowers wafted through
The jasmine perfumed air blowing mild
A gentle stroke of the silver cradle
Kept its rhythm with the beat of drum,
Rapturous, divine music flowed
From the nearby hills.
Flutes played melodious tunes
From this charming Cow-boy.
Yes! Every soul had a song to hum.
Sparkling pink light shone
from the dew-pearled valleys
and the peacock blue-streams
Seemed to dance in delight
At the ecstatic smile divine
from tiny rose hued lips. His eyes
radiated a glance of heavenly joy.
Locks curling down His forehead
and a small mole on His tiny cheek,
Indeed a symbol to ward off
the evil and the wicked,
a sign of promise to the helpless
and hope to the poor and the meek.
His small feet toddled on the sands,
an eternal home for His thronging devotees.
Manifesting divine powers,
He cures the illness and ignorance of the world.
The Sai flag of Truth, Righteousness
Peace and Love has been unfurled.

Thursday Message:

Sai is not finite or limited. He dwells in all beings, from ants and insects to the God Brahma. He pervades all. Sai was well-versed in the knowledge of the Vedas, as well as in the science of Self-realisation. As He was proficient in both these, He was well-fitted to be the Sad-guru. Any one, though learned, but not able to awaken the disciples and establish them in Self-realisation, does not deserve to be called a Sadguru. Generally the father gives birth to the body, and death invariably follows life; but Sadguru does away with both life and death, and so he is more kind and merciful, than any body.

Sai Baba often said that-let His man (Devotee) be at any distance, a thousand koss away from Him, he will be drawn to Shirdi like a sparrow, with a thread tied to its feet. This Chapter describes the stories of three such sparrows.

Lala Lakhamichand

This gentleman was first serving in the Railways and afterwards in Shri Venkateshwar Press in Bombay and thereafter in the firm of Messrs. Ralli Brothers as a munshi (clerk). He got the contact of Baba in 1910. One or two months before Christmas he saw in his dream at Santacruz (a suburb of Bombay ) an old man with a beard, standing and surrounded by his Bhaktas. Some days later he went to the house of his friend. Mr Dattatreya Manjunath Bijur to hear the kirtan by Das Ganu. It was always the practice of Das Ganu to keep Baba's picture in front of the audience while making the kirtan.

Lakhamichand was surprised to see that the features of the old man he saw in his dream, tallied exactly with those in the picture and thus he came to the conclusion, that the old man, he saw in his dream was Sai Baba himself. The sight of this picture, Das Ganu's kirtan and the life of the Saint Tukaram on which Das Ganu discoursed, all these things made a deep impression on his mind and he pined to go to Shirdi. It is always the experience of the Bhaktas that God always helps them in their search for Sad-guru and other spiritual endeavours. That very night at 8-00 p.m. a friend named Shankarrao knocked at his door and asked him whether he would accompany him to Shirdi. His joy knew no bounds and he at once decided to go to Shirdi.

He borrowed Rs.15/- from his cousin and after making due preparations left for Shirdi. In the train, he and his friend Shankar Rao did some Bhajan (sang religious songs) and enquired about Sai baba with some fellow passengers-four Mahomedans, who were returning to their place near Shirdi. They all told tham that Sai baba was a great Saint living in Shirdi for many years. Then when they reached Kopergaon he wanted to buy some good guavas for offering to Baba, but he was so much enrapt with the scenery and sights there, that he forgot to purchase them. When they were nearing Shirdi, he was reminded of the guavas; just then he saw an old woman with a guava-basket on her head, running after the tanga.

The tanga was stopped and he gladly purchased some select fruits, when the woman said - "Take all the rest and offer them on my behalf to Baba". The facts viz. that he had intended to purchase guavas, but that he had forgotten to do so, the old woman's encounter and her devotion to Baba, all these were a surprise to both the friends; and Lakhamichand thought in his mind, that the old woman might be some relation of the old man he saw in his dream. Then they drove on and came near Shirdi and seeing the flags on the Masjid they saluted them. With Puja materials in hand, they then went to the Masjid and worshipped Baba with due formality. Lakhmichand was much moved and was extremely happy to see Baba. He was enrapt with Baba's Feet as a bee with a sweet smelling lotus. Then Baba spoke as follows :-

"Cunning fellow, he does bhajan on the way and enquires from others. Why ask others? Everything we should see with our own eyes; where is the necessity to question others? Just think for yourself whether your dream is true or not? Where was the necessity of the darshan by taking a loan from a Marwari? Is the heart's desire now satisfied?"

Hearing these words Lakhamichand was wonderstruck at Baba's omniscience. He was at a loss to know how Baba came to know about all the things that had happened enroute from his house to Shirdi. The chief thing to note in this respect is that Baba never liked people to run into debt for taking His darshan, or celebrating any holiday or making any pilgrimage.

Sanza

At noon when Lakhamichand was sitting for meals he got some sanza (wheat-pudding) from a devotee as Prasad. He was pleased to have it. Next day also he expected it, but got nothing. So, he was anxious to get it again. Then on the third day at the noon Arati time, Bapusaheb Jog asked Baba, what naivedya he should bring. Baba told him to bring sanza. Then the Bhaktas brought two big potfuls of sanza. Lakshamichand was very hungry and there was some pain in his back. Then Baba said to him - "It is good that you are hungry, take sanza and some medicine for the pain in the back." He was again wonderstruck to see that Baba again read his mind and spoke out what was passing therein. How omniscient was He!

Evil eye

On this occasion, he once witnessed one night the procession to the chavadi. Baba then suffered much from cough. He thought that this suffering of Baba might be due to somebody's evil eye. Next morning when he went to the Masjid Baba spoke to Shama as follows - "I suffered last night from cough; is it due to some evil eye? I think that somebody's evil eye has worked on me and so I am suffering". In this case Baba spoke out what was passing in Lakshamichand's mind.

On seeing these proofs of Baba's omniscience and kindness to His Bhaktas, he fell prostrate at Baba's Feet and said - "I am much pleased with your darshan. Ever be kind and merciful to me and protect me always. There is no other God to me in this world except Your Feet. Let my mind be ever rapt in Your Bhajan and Feet. Let Your grace protect me from the miseries of the world and let me ever chant Your name and be happy".

After getting Baba' Udi and blessing he returned home with his friend, much pleased and contented and singing Baba's glory on the way. He remained a staunch devotee of baba afterwards and always sent garlands of flowers, camphor and Dakshina with any person of his acquaintance bound for Shirdi.

Burhanpore Lady

Now let us turn to another sparrow (Baba's word meaning devotee). One lady in Burhanpore saw in her dream Sai Baba coming to her door and begging khichadi (rice cooked with dal and salt) for His meals. On awakening she saw no body at her door. However, she was pleased with the vision and told it to all including her husband. He was employed in the Postal Department and when he was transferred to Akola , both husband and wife, who were devout, decided to go to Shirdi. Then on a suitable day they left for Shirdi and after visiting Gomati Tirth on the way, reached Shirdi and stayed there for two months.

Every day they went to the Masjid, performed Baba's worship and passed their time happily. The couple came to Shirdi to offer Khichadi as naivedya but for the first 14 days, somehow or other, it could not be offered. The lady did not like this delay. Then on the 15th day she came at noon to the Masjid with her khichadi. There she found that Baba and others were already sitting for meals, and that the curtain was down. Nobody dared enter in when the curtain was let down, but the lady could not wait. She threw up the curtain with her hand and entered. Strange to say that Baba seemed that day, hungry for khichadi and wanted that thing first and when the lady came in with the dish, Baba was delighted, and began to eat morsel after morsel of khichadi. On seeing the earnestness of Baba in this respect, everybody was wonderstruck and those, who heard the story of khichadi, were convinced about His extraordinary love for His devotees.

Megha

Now let us go to the third and bigger 'sparrow'. Megha of Viramgaon was a simple and illiterate Brahmin cook of Rao Bahadur H. V. Sathe. He was a devotee of Shiva and always chanted the five syllabled mantra 'Namah Shivaya'. He did not know the Sandhya nor its chief mantra, the Gayatri. Rao Bahadur Sathe was interested in him, got him taught the Sandhya and the Gayatri. Sathe told him that Sai Baba of Shirdi was the embodied form of the God Shiva and made him start for Shirdi.

At the Broach Railway station he learnt that Sai Baba was a Moslem and his simple and orthodox mind was much perturbed at the prospect of bowing to a Moslem, and he prayed to his master not to send him there. His master, however, insisted on his going there and gave him a letter of introduction to his (Sathe's) father-in-law, Ganesh Domodar, alias Dada Kelkar at Shirdi, to introduce him to Sai Baba. When he reached Shirdi and went to the Masjid, Baba was very indignant and would not allow him to enter. "Kick out the rascal" roared Baba, and then said to Megha - "You are a high caste Brahmin and I am a low Moslem; you will lose your caste by coming here. So get away." Hearing these words Megha began to tremble. He was wondering as to how Baba had come to know about what was passing in his mind. He stayed there for some days, serving Baba in his own way, but was not convinced. Then he went home.

After that he went to Tryambak (Nasik District) and stayed there for a year and a half. Then again he returned to Shirdi. This time, at the intercession of Dada Kelkar, he was allowed to enter the Masjid and stay in Shirdi. Sai Baba's help to Megha was not through any oral instruction. He worked upon Megha internally (mentally) with the result that he was considerably changed and benefited. Then Megha began to look upon Sai Baba as an incarnation of Shiva. In order to worship Shiva, bela leaves are required and Megha used to go miles and miles every day to bring them and worship his Shiva (Baba). His practice was to worship all the Gods in the village and then come to the Masjid and after saluting Baba's gadi (asan) he worshipped Baba and after doing some service (shampooing His Legs) drank the washings (Tirth) of Baba's Feet. Once it so happened that he came to the Masjid without worshipping God Khandoba, as the door of the temple was closed. Baba did not accept his worship and sent him again, saying that the door was open then. Megha went, found the door open, worshipped the Deity, and then returned to Baba as usual.

Ganges-Bath

On one Makar-Sankranti day, Megha wanted to besmear the body of Baba with sandal-paste and bathe Him with Ganges water. Baba was first unwilling to undergo this operation, but at his repeated requests, He consented. Megha had to traverse a distance of eight koss (going and returning) to bring the sacred water from the Gomati river. He brought the water, made all preparations for the bath at noon and asked Baba to get ready for the same.

Then Baba again asked him to be freed from his bath saying that, as a Fakir He had nothing to do (or gain) with Ganges water; but Megha did not listen. He knew that Shiva is pleased with a bath of Ganges water and that he must give his Shiva (Baba) that bath on that auspicious day. Baba then consented, came down and sat on a pat (wooden board) and protruding his head said - "Oh Megha, do at least this favour; head is the most important organ of the body, so pour the water over that only-it is equivalent to the full or whole bath." "Alright" said Megha and lifting the water pot up, began to pour it on the head but in doing this he was so much overwhelmed with love that he cried out 'Har Gange' and emptied the pot on the whole body. He kept the pot aside and began to look at Baba, but to his surprise and amazement he found that Baba's head was only drenched but the body quite dry.

Trident and Pindi

Megha worshipped Baba in two places; in the Masjid he worshipped Baba in person and in the Wada, Baba's big picture, given by Nanasaheb Chandorkar. This he did for 12 months.

Then in order to appreciate his devotion and confirm his faith, Baba gave him a vision. Early one morning when Megha was still lying down on his bed with eyes closed but internally awake, he saw clearly Baba's Form. Baba knowing him to be awake threw Akshata (rice-grains marked red with Kumkum) and said, "Megha, draw a Trident" and disappeared. Hearing Baba's words, he eagerly opened his eyes but did not see Baba, but saw only rice grains spread here and there. He then went to Baba, told Him about the vision and asked permission to draw Trident. Baba said - "Did you not hear My words asking you to draw Trident? It was no vision but direct order and My words are always pregnant with meaning and never hollow." Megha said - "I thought you woke me up, but all the doors were closed, so I thought it was a vision". Baba rejoined - "I require no door to enter. I have no form nor any extension; I always live everywhere. I carry on, as a wirepuller, all the actions of the man who trusts Me and merges in Me."

Megha returned to the Wada, and drew a red Trident on the wall near Baba's picture. Next day a Ramadasi Bhakta came from Poona , saluted Baba and offered Him Pindi (an image of Shiva). At this time Megha also turned up there. Baba said to him - "See, Shankar has come, protect (i.e., worship) Him now." Megha was surprised to see Pindi following Trident immediately. Then also in the Wada, Kakasaheb Dixit was standing with a towel on his head after having taken his bath, and was remembering Sai, when he saw a Pindi before his mental vision. While he was wondering about this, Megha came and showed him the Pindi presented to him by Baba. Dixit was happy to know that the Pindi exactly tallied with the One he saw a few minutes before in his vision. In a few days after the drawing of the Trident was complete, Baba installed the Pindi near the big picture which Megha was worshipping. The worship of Shiva was dear to Megha and by arranging the drawing of the Trident and the installation of the Pindi, Baba confirmed his faith therein.

After continuous service of Baba for many years, doing regular worship and Arati every noon and evening, Megha passed away in 1912. Then Baba passed His hands over his corpse and said - "This was a true devotee of Mine." Baba also ordered that at His own expense the usual funeral dinner should be given to the Brahmins, and this order was carried out by Kakasaheb Dixit.

Bow to Shri Sai - Peace be to all

Posted at 11:24:20 Hrs. IST on 24 Dec 2009

Introducing a Cultural Programme commemorating the fifth anniversary of Prasanthi Dance Group, Prof.

My parents wanted me to study at Bhagavan’s college since my elder sister V.

He told us, “Do not fear the Principal or Warden.  Tell Me your problems.  Be bold, bangaru (bangaru means gold – a term of endearment in Telugu) about what you want, and ask Me. You all have left your parents and come here.  It is My duty to take care of you.”

Bhagavan encouraged us to be forthcoming in expressing our problems to Him.  He told us, “Do not fear the Principal or Warden.  Tell Me your problems.  Be bold, bangaru (bangaru means gold – a term of endearment in Telugu) about what you want, and ask Me. You all have left your parents and come here.  It is My duty to take care of you.”

Chitta chora Yashoda ke baal, Natavaralal, Govinda Krishna Jai and Sathyam Jnanam Anantam Brahma ….

“you must learn to conduct yourselves well in the world after you leave the portals of the college.”

Bhagavan then mischievously coaxed her, “I am asking you.  Won’t you tell Me?”  At last, she relented to His pressure tactics and told Him the name of her husband ever so softly.

Immediately the playful Swami teased her,Dunnapota, (or buffalo – another term of endearment in Telugu) can any lady mention her husband’s name?”  We all laughed merrily at her discomfort as Bhagavan pulled off the trick so sweetly.

Homemaking - the Highest Spiritual Discipline

Ever the teacher, in His light and serious moments, He taught us life lessons that have stood the test of time through the four decades since.  He told us repeatedly that “you must learn to conduct yourselves well in the world after you leave the portals of the college.”  Emphasizing the vital role that women play as the thermostats of the spiritual and moral climate of their homes, He urged us to strive to be good homemakers first, and to bring a good name to our parents, in-laws and college, before venturing into other ambitions.

Stressed and panic stricken, I was engrossed in serious studying when I suddenly heard a soft, sweet voice saying “Virisina mallepoovu” which means “Blossoming Jasmine”.

And lo and behold it was Him!  Bhagavan had arrived in the college just then, totally unannounced and was standing right next to me, just as it typically happens in one’s dream!  If that wasn’t enough, He then proceeded to materialize a delicious apple and gave it to me.

The blessed mother and senior ladies applied the ceremonial oil on Bhagavan’s hair.

I remember He used to wear yellow in the morning and a white robe in the evening, as He sat on a swing while playback singer and devotee Mrs. P. Susheela rendered devotional songs.  Those days of the birthday celebrations felt so heavenly that we didn’t realize how time flew by and we used to return to Anantapur with a heavy heart.

He said to me: “You need not do anything.  Take padanamaskar (salutations at the feet).  You have got higher sense.”

  swami

After this dream, I have always felt Bhagavan’s guidance in overcoming the problems of my life.

After a moment’s hesitation, I picked and unrolled it.  I was astonished to find a 10 by 10 inch picture of Bhagavan lighting a lamp.  I cried with joy.  His blessings in the most unexpected of locations lit my child’s life.  To this day I treasure that precious picture.

After many years, I took the leap of faith and decided to continue my education. I wanted to get a Bachelors in Education degree.  As I anxiously awaited my results, my son brought me a picture from his friend’s mother.  It was of our dearest Bhagavan with the words “Why Fear When I Am Here”.  I felt a resurgence of confidence and calm.

Once when my husband was sent on a military mission to the troubled state of Jammu & Kashmir, I was very worried, since I was unable to contact him for many days due to stormy weather.  I prayed hard and heard Bhagavan’s voice assuring me “You are going to get a call, don’t worry.”  Within a few seconds, the telephone rang and sure enough it was my husband on the line.  All was well with Bhagavan’s grace and compassion.

When Bhagawan spoke to Doctors in Kannada

There is no need of any translator. Does everyone know Kannada in your group? Most of the patients who come to our hospital are economically poor. You have to speak to them with love and compassion. Your eyes should radiate love when you speak to them. Do not be harsh with them (by shouting go go ). Never get angry with them. Speak sweetly and softly to all patients. A Doctor should develop such noble qualities. But nowadays doctors crave for only money, money and money

They do not seek love, i.e., Divine Love. If you attain Gods love then all your vices will disappear. Also you should have love for Society (Sangha Prema). When you cultivate Sangha Prema, you get reputation (Khyati). This reputation is not worldly reputation, but Character. With love, you can develop Character. Where there is Character there is Education. The end of Education is Character. You have to speak to patients with love. You have to conduct yourselves truthfully, righteously and morally.

Earning money should not be your only motive. Do not wander hither and thither for the sake of money. You will get more money in one place or the other. What is Money? Money comes and goes, but Morality comes and grows, grows and grows.

You should treat the patients well. There should not be minor bickering amongst you. If there is misunderstanding amongst you, what is the use? There is only one God and one Goal. You may call Allah, Jesus, Rama, Krishna, Eshwar Though names are different, God is one. If you abuse someone, it is equivalent to abusing God. And if you love someone, it is equivalent to loving God. Love is present equally in all. But there is a difference in the love between mother and child and husband and wife. Sanctify your time with love. If you make proper use of love, then everything good will happen in your life. Love is most important. This love is Gods Love.

You should cultivate Love for God (Daiva Preeti), Morality in Society (Sangha Neeti) and Fear of Sin (Paapa Bheeti) to attain God. When you give medicines (treatment) to patients, render it with love. Pray for the well-being of patients. Some nurses are not treating patients in this manner. The doctors have to train them.

Swami enquired one of the senior doctors - How are the doctors and nurses at Bangalore? Are they working well?

They should work with love. Love is more important than medicines. Love is God Live in Love. Love is very important. There should be Love in your thought, word and deed. There should be Unity of thought, word and deed. It is said you are not one but three. The one you think you are, the one others think you are and the one you really are. All the three, i.e., Manas (mind), Buddhi (intellect) and Chitta (mind-stuff) have to work in unison.

You should not only treat the patients well but also identify the reason for their illness. You should also investigate as to how, where and why they got the ailment?

Are you all happy today?

Very Happy (Tumbha Santhosha)

Thought for the day as written at Prasanthi Nilayam

December 24th, 2009
Sai Baba picture -Thought for the day as written at Prasanthi Nilayam

If a man wishes to be happy, the first exercise he must do is to remove from his mind every bad thought, feeling and habit. Grief and joy are obverse and reverse sides of the same experience. Joy is when grief ends; grief is when joy ends. What exactly is grief? It is merely a reaction to the loss of something gained or the failure to gain something desired. Therefore, the only way to escape grief and sorrow is to conquer desire for the illusory. The secret of happiness is not in doing what one likes but in liking what one has to do. Whatever work you have to do, you should do it with pleasure and liking.

December 21, 2009 – Divine Interaction with SSSIHMS, WF Doctors

Swami says that Puttaparthi is a workshop where all the cars (read devotees) come in for maintenance; it is the place where all the devotees come to “recharge their spiritual batteries”. The pot is full of water as long as it remains immersed in it. Once taken out, the water gradually evaporates till the pot becomes empty. To keep the pots of their lives ever submerged in spirituality is why many devotees visit Puttaparthi regularly.

A contingent of doctors from the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Bengaluru, had arrived to bask in His love and refill their 'pots'! They were present the previous day evening and were blessed with His darshan. On that day, Swami had sent word for all of them to be seated in the Bhajan Hall for an interaction with Him. And sure enough, by 4:25 p.m., the Lord was out and He cut through the ladies' side and headed straight to the interview room. Soon, He moved into the Bhajan Hall much to the delight of the hundred and fifty or so people seated there.

Swami was the loving mother as He enquired into the well being of everyone present. As He moved to the centre, representatives offered roses to Him and Swami accepted them lovingly. He saw the longing and thirst that pervaded the hall and immediately began to move around slowly, amidst the seated doctors and their families. And then, it started.

The rain of Love! Swami moved through them, taking letters and talking, consoling and cajoling, correcting and creating! Many mothers held out their babes for blessings and none of them were disappointed. In fact, it was a guarantee of a blessing when one had a child or baby to hold! Most of the people took padanamaskar as Swami moved towards the altar from the back end of the Bhajan Hall. Arriving in the front, Swami was requested to speak to all of them. Swami agreed and a mike was placed in front.

Bhagavan began by asking in Kannada whether all understood that language. The bhajans were on outside and the volumes were lowered and now Swami could be heard. He said that it was vital that the poor be served. The more they are served, the more He is pleased. But He emphasized on the quality of treatment too. The feeling of Love is paramount and only that makes up service. Everyone is an embodiment of God and must be treated that way. Though called by different names, God is one and He is in all.

The discourse was short and focused. After ten minutes, Swami began to interact with all those present. He saw two kids who seemed to be troubling their mothers! He called one of them and materialized a gold chain! The baby was so happy and began to play with the creation even before Swami could put it around her neck. Swami lovingly 'chained' her to Himself and spoke to the parents. Many couples sought His advise and blessings for various matters and it was as if Swami was granting mini family interviews!

He also granted family pictures for a few and nearly everyone in the hall moved up to Him and had a few words. Finally, a queue got formed and people moved towards Swami, kneeling before Him and speaking to Him. Thus, after a bliss-filled 40 minutes in the Bhajan Hall, Swami moved back to the interview room. Later, He came out for bhajans and soon received aarthi and left.

Firstly, i would like to thank everyone for giving me advice regarding my education pathway. I belive i received sai ma' s massage from all of you. Yes you are right, writing in two papers 'yes' or 'no' is not the best method. The only thing i could do for now is to wait patiently and pray for strength to face my karma. I believe if there is a problem there sure will be a solution to solve it but it just takes sometime. I will hereafter do what my heart feels and surrender to sai ma's feet. Thank you.
