Recommendations made by the Local Council for the existing Shirdi Sai Baba Temple in Wembley:
a) Reduce the intensity of usage at Wembley temple.
b) Have an effective travel management plan in place to avoid any traffic congestion.
c) Address the local neighbourhood issues by way of not increasing the crowd and noise levels at the existing temple in Wembley.

The Shirdi Sai Baba Temple Association of London conducted few surveys in accordance with above issues
and have laid down below objectives on priority for the near future:
a) Expand our activities into other neighbouring locations within London, to make it more convenient for people to visit our prayer centres locally
rather than intensifying there presence at just one single location in Wembley.

EXTRACT FROM DOUG COPP'S ARTICLE ON 'THE TRIANGLE OF LIFE'

My name is Doug Copp. I am the Rescue Chief and Disaster Manager of the American Rescue Team International (ARTI ), the world's most experienced rescue team. The information in this article will save lives in an earthquake.

I have crawled inside 875 collapsed buildings, worked with rescue teams from 60 countries, founded rescue teams in several countries, and I am a member of many rescue teams from many countries. I was the United Nations expert in Disaster Mitigation for two years, and have worked at every major disaster in the world since 1985, except for simultaneous disasters.

The first building I ever crawled inside of was a school in Mexico City during the 1985 earthquake. Every child was under its desk. Every child was crushed to the thickness of their bones. They could have survived by lying down next to their desks in the aisles. It was obscene -- unnecessary.

Simply stated, when buildings collapse, the weight of the ceilings falling upon the objects or furniture inside crushes these objects, leaving a space or void next to them - NOT under them. This space is what I call the 'triangle of life'. The larger the object, the stronger, the less it will compact. The less the object compacts, the larger the void, the greater the probability that the person who is using this void for safety will not be injured. The next time you watch collapsed buildings, on television, count the 'triangles' you see formed. They are everywhere. It is the most common shape, you will see, in a collapsed building.

TIPS FOR EARTHQUAKE SAFETY

1) Most everyone who simply 'ducks and covers' when building collapse are crushed to death. People who get under objects, like desks or cars, are crushed.

2) Cats, dogs and babies often naturally curl up in the fetal position. You should too in an earthquake. It is a natural safety/survival instinct. You can survive in a smaller void. Get next to an object, next to a sofa, next to a bed, next to a large bulky object that will compress slightly but leave a void next to it.

3) Wooden buildings are the safest type of construction to be in during an earthquake. Wood is flexible and moves with the force of the earthquake. If the wooden building does collapse, large survival voids are created. Also, the wooden building has less concentrated, crushing weight. Brick buildings will break into individual bricks. Bricks will cause many injuries but less squashed bodies than concrete slabs.

4) If you are in bed during the night and an earthquake occurs, simply roll off the bed. A safe void will exist around the bed. Hotels can achieve a much greater survival rate in earthquakes, simply by posting a sign on the back of the door of every room telling occupants to lie down on the floor, next to the bottom of the bed during an earthquake.

5) If an earthquake happens and you cannot easily escape by getting out the door or window, then lie down and curl up in the fetal position next to a sofa, or large chair.

6) Most everyone who gets under a doorway when buildings collapse is killed. How? If you stand under a doorway and the doorjamb falls forward or backward you will be crushed by the ceiling above. If the door jam falls sideways you will be cut in half by the doorway. In either case, you will be killed!

7) Never go to the stairs. The stairs have a different 'moment of frequency' (they swing separately from the main part of the building). The stairs and remainder of the building continuously bump into each other until structural failure of the stairs takes place. The people who get on stairs before they fail are chopped up by the stair treads - horribly mutilated. Even if the building doesn't collapse, stay away from the stairs. The stairs are a likely part of the building to be damaged. Even if the stairs are not collapsed by the earthquake, they may collapse later when overloaded by fleeing people. They should always be checked for safety, even when the rest of the building is not damaged.

8) Get near the outer walls of buildings or outside of them if possible - It is much better to be near the outside of the building rather than the interior. The farther inside you are from the outside perimeter of the building the greater the probability that your escape route will be blocked.

9) People inside of their vehicles are crushed when the road above falls in an earthquake and crushes their vehicles; which is exactly what happened with the slabs between the decks of the Nimitz Freeway. The victims of the San Francisco earthquake all stayed inside of their vehicles. They were all killed. They could have easily survived by getting out and sitting or lying next to their vehicles. Everyone killed would have survived if they had been able to get out of their cars and sit or lie next to them. All the crushed cars had voids 3 feet high next to them, except for the cars that had columns fall directly across them.

10) I discovered, while crawling inside of collapsed newspaper offices and other offices with a lot of paper, that paper does not compact. Large voids are found surrounding stacks of paper.

There would likely have been 100 percent survivability for people using my method of the 'triangle of life.' This film has been seen by millions of viewers on television in Turkey and the rest of Europe, and it was seen in the USA , Canada and Latin America on the TV program Real TV.

Om Sairam dearest Sai Family,

There is an absolute silence in Puttaparthi. The little Spiritual hamlet which used be to buzzing with tons of activity, anxious devotees lining up for darshans, busy flowers girls selling flowers and coconuts, busy auto rickshaw drivers driving slowly infront of Ganesh gate asking you for a ride, all these activities have come to a stand still with the �absence of Swami.� Inspite of a much hyped India Pakistan Cricket match there were quite a lot of devotees who attended today's evening bhajan, praying intensely for our beloved Lord to get well soon.

Its now 48 hours since Swami's Divine Leela in Sri Sathya Sai Super Speciality Hospital and Swami is still in the hospital. Today there were so many unwanted rumours making rounds about His health but when all His children across the world were praying for our beloved Lord, He is bound to recover.

The good news is that Swami's health is getting better and better and speaking on medical parameters He is responding to the treatment very positively.

It is an emotional time for the students of our beloved Lord, for whom 31st March will be the last day of their academic year and it would be very painful moments�for the last year students in particular�as they may have to leave the campus probably for the first time in the history of Sri Sathya Sai University, without having His darshan and without taking His PHYSICAL blessings, but it is all part and parcel of the DIVINE script.

Brothers and Sisters, lets intensify our prayers and our beloved Lord will definitely come home soon and give us His loving darshans.

Once more it is appealed not to give any importance to any rumours about Swami's health condition He is absolutely fine..

Dear Readers,

Sai Ram. Here is an update on Swami’s health.

As was announced earlier, Swami had a pacemaker implanted on the evening of Monday, March 28. Following this, on March 29, Radio Sai broadcast a statement released by Dr. A. N. Safaya, Director, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prashanti Gram. As we said then, the procedure was completely successful, Swami was doing fine, and also had a good night’s rest.

We did not broadcast any subsequent bulletins because the hospital authorities assured us that all Swami needed now was some good rest and of course, in a sterile atmosphere.

Meanwhile, we have received numerous enquiries expressing great concern and anxiety, which is perfectly understandable. By way of reassuring all devotees and also by way of strongly refuting the flood of baseless rumours floating all over on various media, Radio Sai wishes to make the following categorical announcement:

1. After the procedure on March 28, senior doctors are on constant attendance.

2. Repeated checks of all relevant body functions are being made, and all are absolutely satisfactory.

3. Everything is being done to assist speedy recovery, as also to ensure maximum comfort for Swami.

4. Meanwhile, upon seeing the news bulletin about Swami in the press, several leading doctors of the country rushed here, including Dr. P. Venugopal, the eminent heart surgeon from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

(It may be recalled that Dr. Venugopal performed the first and the historic surgery on the morning of 22nd November 1991, immediately following the inauguration of Swami’s hospital in Puttaparthi by the then Prime Minister Mr. P. V. Narasimha Rao.)

Dr. Venugopal came here to personally make sure that all that ought to be done is being done.

We are happy to inform you that Dr. Venugopal as well as all the other doctors who came here are completely satisfied that everything is fine and there is absolutely no need for any anxiety.

The unanimous opinion is that the more the rest that Bhagawan gets, the faster would be the recovery.

In view of this, we earnestly appeal to one and all to continue offering prayers of Love emanating from the Heart. And kindly,PLEASE DO NOT send e-mails to each other based on all kinds of unfounded rumours, of which there are more than what we need.

Let us not spend our time and energy gathering news from any source possible most of which we know is unauthentic and baseless. Instead let us spend every second in prayer, meditation and most important practising His teachings.

God, who is above TIME, wears a human form to be amongst us not only to shower His Love and Grace, but also to show us how to sanctify Time. This is the hour when, if we are really serious and concerned about our dearest Swami, we must do what pleases Him most.

And what is it that pleases Swami the most? Let us listen to this:

Let us all remember that Swami is in every being. Let us broaden our hearts and serve Him by reaching out to the needy. This is what will make our Swami most happy.

Let us think of Him constantly to the exclusion of everything else. Let us love Him more than we have ever done before. Let us pray to Him to return to good health so that He is with us, amongst us, in the ashram.

Brothers and Sisters of the Sai Family.

We are all very disturbed that our beloved Baba had to recieve a pace maker to help the heart beat and keep Baba in Good Health.

But, my Dearest Devotees, we have all witnessed Baba taking on some other devotees pain and karmic retribution on himself till the effect is worn off. Don't you remenber the paralysis stroke suffered by Baba in Goa and how He miraclously sprinklled water on the effected body part and then got up that very instant to give a discourse to His Embodiments of Love. There are so many such instances.

When Baba had to undergo hip surgery, he underwent with pleasure and told the doctor to do his karmic duty to treat the body. He did not take anesthesea and did not even evince any pain. And within a few days He gave His devotees benediction of Darshan.

Since then the message changed - give up deha abhimana - pride of the body - become atmaswarupas - embodiments of Aatman.

It is not very easy to become conscious of the Aatman, but for those who want to try - here is a simple process that has to be relentlessly followed.

"Whatever you eyes see - ask your self this question - Is this permenant - Your answer will be NO - NETI NETI. Any person or animal you see - Is this permenant - Neti Neti - is the answer No No. When everything you see with your eyes is impermenant - even Baba's body is impermenant.

Now, close you eyes, what do you see ~ nothing. Keep the eyes closed. Bring into focus of your closed eyes the candle or oil lamp flame or any other pure source of light. When you see it in your eyes, against the closed eye lids - welcome it and bring it in. Then expose to this divine light every part of your body - yes every part of your body - go over every part and repeat its function for good health and keep in mind that wherever the divine light falls - the disease vanishes and good health comes about. Sense organs have also to be illuminated like this and where you have been unable to control these senses - pray to the divine light to shower Grace upon it to follow Sathya Dharma Santhi Prema and Ahimsa ~ Thuth, Righteousness, Peace, Love and Non-Violence.

Very soon - you will realise that in you Neti Neti - No No to every sight your outward vision sees, there is now another way - every material, animal or human - is saturated with Divine force, so now you look at the wall - it is impermenant - but it has the Divine Force in every particle of sand or cement - relate to that Divine Force - with the Divine that you find in your self.

Swami's Body is impermenant, but special. His hair is still fully Black - all teeth are intact and eyes are full vision. He was 108 pounds when he was 40, 60 or even now at 85 years.

Shirdi Baba, prepared his close devotees by telling them about 'seema ulonghan' crossing the border a few years before He finally left to go where He had come from. This present instant of our Beloved Baba is the crossing the border by Sathya Baba. He is distancing hIs body from our outward looking eyes, but to the closed eyes of a meditator ~ Dhyani ~ He always was and will always be the same loving Paramaatman.

Close your eyes - you will see Baba. Maybe the first time or maybe the 100th time, but you will see Baba - That is His Permenant Form - start loving that and start loving each of his teaching in our lives - Sathya ~ Truth - we will stick to Sathya come what may, Dharma ~ Righteousness - we will follow our Dharma and conduct ourselves with full dharmic consciousness at all times - at work or at home, Santhi ~ Peace - will be our temperament - even if we are exponsed to hot sun ~ hot enough to scorch us, Prema ~ Love - we will love our enemies as much as we love ourselves and Ahimsa - Non Violence - we will not express violence to even an ant or to even that inert wall or chair. We will do our utmost to avoid - the six sins of Kama ~ Passion and Lust, Krodha ~ Anger, Lobha ~ Greed, Moha ~ Attachment and Matserya ~ Jealousy and envy.

Dear Devotees - understand the messge that Baba is giving all of us - the become conscious of our Aatman and live in that consciousness 24 x 7.

In Mumbai, the havan was held at Dharmakshetra, the favourite abode of the Lord. More than 500 devotees gathered for the mass prayer with only one intention – to see their Divine Lord back to them talking, walking, inspiring as always!

The prayer meeting started with the chief priest, Shri. Vishwanath Pandit explaining the purpose of devotees praying for the Lord. Though God HIMSELF is capable of curing the world, HE sometimes gives the devotees a chance to express their devotion and get closer to HIM. The Priest explained a heart touching story of Lord Krishna experiencing stomach ache which was cured only when HE drank the water containing the dust upon which the Gopikas walked! Devotion is the only medicine that can cure God, he reiterated.

Shri. Vishwananth Pandit then went on to explaining the purpose of the artistic rangolis drawn. Rangoli’s represent the Earth element of all the 5 elements. It is also a seat offered to the Deities who witness the pooja. In Sanskrit it is also called as ‘Deva Aaradhana Mandal’ Each havan is done for a mandal and there were 4 beautiful ‘Mandal’s’ in various hues, one each for the Guru, Lord Ganapati, Lord Maha Vishnu and Lord Shiva.

The State President of Maharashtra & Goa Shri. Ramesh. D. Sawant, District President of Mumbai Shri. Nimish Pandya and Shri. Keki Mistry, Trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Trust were present leading the prayers. Shri. Pandya spoke briefly emphasizing not only on the importance of praying for the Lord’s physical form but viewing the condition of the Divine Form as nothing but a reflection of the present chaotic world and more so our individual persona. He urged everyone to look within and correct our attitudes and overcome our self-created obstacles acting as speed breakers on our spiritual path. Shri. Pandya conveyed that this would act as a rapid beam of positive energy creating an aura of positivity and well being and hastening the entire process of convalescence of our Beloved Lord.

Soon, the atmosphere reverberated with the 1000 names of Lord Vishnu, namely the ‘Vishnu Sahasranam’. After which various offerings were made to the holy fire while the devotees chanted the ‘Sanjeevani Maha Mrutyunjaya Mantra’.
The havan ended with Poorna Aahuti, traditional Aarti with the rhythmic beating of drums. The sincere and genuine prayers could be easily felt in the air and each one left hoping that they would soon assemble to offer “Thank you” to the Lord for hearing their pleas!

Human body is subjected to decay and death but swamy's body is not body but
'Bhodi' which takes its form to grant enlightenment to all of us. The truama
that every devotee undergoes today is a part of the cosmic drama enacted by our
beloved lord to impart the perpetual teaching of our beloved Bhagawan  LOVE
ALL,.

Of the seven spriritual centres (chakras) of our body we are aware that the
central chakra is Anahada Chakra or love chakra. The chakra is active for all
the persons who love all beings equally.

Our lord is the universe. Today's world is full of negativism in the form of
hatred and jealosy which is affecting the central chakra of swamy's body. If we
earnestly pray our lord and vow that we develop love towards all beings swamy
will conclude his cosmic drama and come our hale and healthy and move amongst us
in the mandir granting feast to our eyes without which our entire lives are
engulfed with darkness. So pray for his love and show love to all.

as you will read in the following email a clear message from Prof.Venkatraman, about Swami's health progress. No doubt, every Sai devotee, every blessed soul who had the great fortune to have darshan of our LIVING and LOVING Lord, would be feeling sad. This DIVINE PLAY, cannot be understood and also would be a futile attempt if tried to understand, but what Swami wants at this TESTING HOUR is to experience His love, to experience His Omnipresence. Atleast because of this condition of Swami, we all (atleast the Sai family) is united, having prayer sessions in groups, thinking more about Him than any other thing which was of GREAT IMPORTANCE to us a week ago.
Yesterday's telugu news channels coverage was completely baseless. Thanks to the electronic media revoloution in India, Andhra Pradesh state itself has about 12 telugu news channels, and one channel started the false news and every one followed the suit and what resulted was a complete chaos in Puttaparthi which later spread all over the world. The hospital had to come out with two medical bulletins on Swami's physical condition.

Brothers and Sisters, rest assured there is no need to worry about Swami even though our MONKEY MINDS would not be in a position to accept this, but Swami will come out hail and healthy in no time.

Loving Sai Ram and greetings from Prasanthi Nilayam. This is a bulletin I am offering specially for the benefit of devotees all around the world, all of whom are understandably most anxious.

Last evening, I went as usual to the Hospital, to spend some time, reflecting and meditating. Of course, I did not go into the ICU, nor did I make any attempt to, since doctors were absolutely strict about entry into the ICU. I strongly believe in professional discipline, without which Karma Yoga would be a joke. I was personally happy to notice that the highest norms were being observed.

That said, I was hoping that by some chance I would be able to see Dr. Safaya, and sometime later, my prayers were answered. Out came Dr. Safaya into the main corridor where a few of us were gathered, and when I looked at him, I was absolutely thrilled. There was not only relief writ all over his face but, more importantly, he was also smiling broadly and appeared totally relaxed; and that said it all. No doubt I asked him the mandatory question, “How is Swami?” However, Dr. Safaya was so lost in relief and joy that he just tapped my hands!

Dear reader, I have been observing Dr. Safaya from the moment when Swami was first taken to the Hospital; for me therefore, this sight was the greatest news ever. Meanwhile, the Hospital has of course issued a formal statement on the evening of April 1, 2011.

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba who was hospitalised in Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram on March 28, 2011 afternoon is showing considerable improvement. There is positive and good response to the treatment. He is under constant care of a panel of expert doctors and His vital systems continue to function satisfactorily.

This morning, that is to say, the morning of April 2, 2011, I called the hospital and checked again, and they said that recovery was taking its normal course and that there was nothing special for me to report.

Yet, around noon, I got a message from the Hospital, asking Radio Sai to read out a statement just then released by Dr. Safaya. This we did, and that statement is reproduced below:

Yesterday late in the night Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, who is admitted in this hospital for treatment, developed difficulty in breathing. He is put on supportive respiratory device. He is now breathing more easily. All other vital systems are functioning normally. There is no cause for any anxiety.

A little later, I learnt why this statement was issued. Apparently, all sorts of wild rumours were floating around in the media, TV channels and what not, leading to wild speculations in the Puttaparthi village too. I was completely taken aback because I simply could not understand what caused this enormous flutter of wild rumour mongering.

In this hyper-media age, rumours have their own way of being born, rapidly growing and spreading all across the Universe instantly. Alas, that seems to be a fact of life, and unhappy though I am about it, I guess none of us have any choice in that matter. That said, as devotees we do have a choice, that of being responsible and NOT going by mere hearsay and simply believing all that passes off for authentic news, which are in reality are nothing but wild rumours. Especially where Swami is concerned, it behoves us to be doubly, I would say even triply, careful.

For a person who has gone through what Swami has, a bit of breathing difficulty is not unusual; in fact, even when normal, Swami used to occasionally have a bit of breathing problem in recent years, especially when He had exerted Himself a bit too much. Under the circumstances, the Hospital took it as one of the normal patient care routines and did what is generally done. However, somehow, since in this case it is Swami who is involved, the whole thing seems to have been blown out of proportion.

The Official Statement from the Hospital issued at 4 p.m. on April 2, 2011

Swami continues to be on respiratory support device with His respiration showing marked improvement. All other vital systems are funtioning normally. The team of doctors treating Him is quite satisfied with the progress. This is to reiterate that there is no cause for any anxiety.

Allow me now to make a few personal observations.

Firstly, Swami is not a VVIP and we are not a 24 hours news channel. That is why we confine ourselves to communicating to the public what the Director issues as Official Statements. Yes, we ARE a 24 hours channel, but devoted to the dissemination of Swami’s teachings rather than meaningless chats. Recall, on the other hand, what happens when a celebrity becomes hospitalised. The media becomes hyperactive, with talk show hosts chatting with doctors, with reporters chasing doctors to say something, with others trying to get hold of anyone remotely connected with the family of the patient or the hospital, and so on.

Clearly, all of that is meaningless here, for, as I just said, Swami is NOT a VVIP but the Infinite and Formless who is in our midst donning a human form, for a Divine purpose. I am sure you would agree with me on that point. Yes, at the physical level, Swami has had a health problem, yes He has been hospitalised for the first time in this incarnation, and yes all of us are most anxious. At the same time, we must also ask ourselves the important question: “What would Swami really like us to do?”

Let us say we do manage to ask, “Swami, what should we do?” I am 100% sure that Swami’s response would be: “Bangaru, what God likes most is the love of the devotee!” Now of course there is not one amongst us who would not swear that he or she loves God very much. But words are not enough since sadly, they often do not come from the Heart. The Love we offer Swami must be of the Heart to Heart type. What does that mean?

By way of answering that question, I draw attention to a remark that Swami often used to make during His discourses in earlier days. He would say:

Sarva jiva namaksaaram, Kesavam prathi gatchathi!

What it means is that if you offer obeisance and respect to any individual that really reaches God. Thus, if we offer love to any individual or indeed any living being, that love reaches Swami, every bit of it. Only, we must have firm faith in that. Incidentally, why does Swami say what He does? Because, both as Krishna and as Sathya Sai He has emphatically asserted that He is in all beings.

In brief dear reader, there are a thousand different ways in which we can show we love Swami. A teacher can pour out his or her heart in work and treat the children in the class as having been specially given to his/her charge by Swami. That love in action would reach Swami and make Him very happy. Extending that argument, anyone anywhere can offer love to Swami. If you are not able to understand all that, then just sit down in a group and pray, as people are doing all over the Ashram here, at times convenient to them and in places where they can assemble. I see this all over the place, in the sheds, in various meeting rooms, and it is most moving.

One thing we must not and should not do is to treat this as hot news and generate chain mails, tweets, text messages, all based on rumours of various kinds. Every one of these activities is a complete waste of time and totally contrary to what Swami represents and stands for.

To put it in simple language, this is NOT the hour for the internet but the INNERNET, if I might put it that way.

With much humility and deep respect I offer my Pranaams to Bhagawan and end with the request that wherever you are, please ensure that your time is spent in sending Love to Swami.

Dr. H. S. Bhat, once a familiar figure here always used to say, “The surgeon merely cuts, but it is Swami who really heals.”

In this case, when Swami Himself is a patient as a part of His inscrutable drama, it turns out that the doctors merely attend on Swami while we the devotees must make Swami return to normal by offering Pure Love.

Swami has made no secret of the fact that more than anything, He wants the true love of devotees. That we sure can give, wherever we are, and at all times!

Hoping that we would all rise to the occasion, I bring this brief message to a close.

Our beloved Lord's LEELA is still happening and every one all over the world is completely immersed in prayers for Swami's speedy recovery..

After the evening official bulletin where in it said, Swami's condition is critical, thousands thronged to this place.

All the OB vans of Telugu News Channels landed in Puttaparthi and all were infront of Swami's hospital. Every channel had live telecasts of devotees views on the whole issue and the local devotees expressed their helplessness and expressed grief and sorrow on Swami's hospitalisation. Due to this hospitalisation, there were so many people who started to know more about Swami and the reason behind His hospitalisation, inspite of Him being a poorna avatar. There were poor, illeterate villagers who were speaking live, saying very proudly that our REAL SWAMI is HERE (pointing to heart) and the Swami we are all are concerned about is just the body, which is not permanent. This did shut the mouths of people who were criticising Swami and His devotees.

According to the news channels, for the first time Swami's immediate family members were allowed to go to ICU to have Swami's darshan. The good news, which claimed to be coming from the family members, is that when they called out SAIRAM,standing by Swami, He opened His eyes and looked at them�and the family members also saw slight movement in Swami's feet. This news, which was flashed in all the news channels was of great relief to all the Sai devotees.

There is still bit of unrest in Parthi but Swami's recovery will make things better.

About 3000 police have been deployed near Hospital and in Puttaparthi to avoid the unruly crowd. A team�of�specialist doctors from the Government of Andhra Pradesh are�also�assisting the doctors in Swami's hospital.�Tomorrow the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh is rushing to Puttaparthi to personally oversee the conditions here.��

Mean while thousands of phone calls were made to Parthi enquiring Swami's health. Ministers and Chiefministers were also concerned to hear Swami's news. Many of them are rushing to Parthi to personally see the happenings.

� A latest�medical bulletin was released around 11.45 PM by Dr.Safaya and the summary of the same as flashed on the TV reads thus: We are doing everything to get Swami back to good health. Swami's body is responding positively to the treatment,� Fearing infection, no one is allowed into the ICU, Devotees are asked to be patient and keep praying for Swami's speedy recovery.

Only Swami knows what is going to happen..... I am sure He is watching each and every one us, as how we are HANDLING this pressure situation.

I feel there is no doubt on this - we are waves and He is the Ocean. What can the wave know about the ocean, except that the ocean is the base for its very existance.

There is a lot to be done here. We have to become examples of Morality. All acts on the path of Kaama, Krodha, Lobha, Mooha and Matserya are IMMORAL acts - we have to replace these with action that are based on SATHYA, DHARMA, SANTHI, PREMA AND AHIMSA. Take one step and see the magic. Stick to TRUTH (Sathya) and you will find the strong adherence to TRUTH will being Dharma (Righteousness) in your life and when these both ~ Sathya Dharma ~ are there - Santhi (Peace), Prema (Pure Love) will also come running to reside in your mind body and aatman.

Swami has warned that immoral acts will kill the peace of the doer. Correct. So do we stop doing all acts. No - we replace the acts of Kama Krodha path with action of the Sathya Dharma path. But our Beloved Baba - has assured that all will be either protected or corrected.

At 9.30 am Dr.Safaya, the director released a medical bulletin on Swami's condition which reads thus:

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba who is admitted to this hospital continues to be in the same condition as yesterday.

However, His level of consciousness has considerably improved. His vital systems are in stable condition. He still continues to be on assisted ventilation through ventilator and CRRT, which is a slow dialysis process, continues to assist His kidneys

Devotees all over the world are immersed in prayers. Devotees in VIzag have started Maha Mritynjaya Yagna the whole night. Even in Parthi, devotees are chanting Rudram, there were many bhajans sung by small groups in houses.
Even though, it is a very emotional affair, for we devotees, We all know is Swami is very much in control of all the affairs. Swami knows the best. Only He knows the reason behind this Leela.

The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh,Mr.Kiran, Ex-Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Sri.Ashok Chavan, Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri.Yeddurappa and other ministers are planning to come to see Swami.

Mean while, some devotees in Parthi are feeling that this situation of Swami and also the accident to brother Ratnakar in december is because of the removal of Sathyamma statue. For those who don't know about this, Mother Sathyamma, is the village diety of Parthi, which the legend says that Swami's grand father had built this temple (this temple is situated just opposite Kalayan Mandapam, Swami's Old Mandir). A year ago, there was a slight breakage in the statue and according to Hindu tradition, any statue that is broken is not good for worship.

So the villagers of Parthi decided to replace it with a new marble statue which was consecrated and brother Ratnakar was invited for the same and this happened about a month ago. Mean while the old statue of Sathyamma was immersed in Kotha Cheruvu river as old statues are not supposed to be thrown instead immersed in water.

Last night about 2000 local devotees went to the river in search of the old statue. Every one were very sure that this TWO MIS HAPPENINGS IN SWAMI'S FAMILY (brother Ratnakar's accident in december and Swami's present hospitalisation) is only because the old statue was replaced. By Swami's grace the villagers who jumped into the river, traced the statue.

Now as I type this email, arrangements are made to take the statue in procession in the streets of Parthi to consecrate the statue back into the temple. Every minute chances of Swami's recovery is done by local devotees.

Swami, who is the ETERNAL WITNESS, will definitely come back to us, give us ONE MORE CHANCE to practice His teachings, after His hospitalisation, we all are aware how hard it is to imagine a LIFE WITHOUT SWAMI and the whole world knows nothing is going to happen to Swami...

Swami, you know each and every thing, Swami you are eternal witness, Please Swami we want to see You hail and healthy... GET WELL SOON..

EMBODIMENTS of Divine Love!

All the wealth that man acquires is got through speech. Man's friendships and relations are established through speech. Man forges fetters through speech. In the last reckoning, even death overtakes man through speech.

In human life, speech is extremely vital. When his speech is pure, man gets sanctified. In all circumstances, one should be on guard in the use of words. Purity in speech is ensured only by the company of the good.

"Can the mind concentrate in the contemplation of God without good qualities and good thoughts? Can a house be built without brick and mortar?" (Swami recited a Telugu poem).

Not men alone, but all living beings are enveloped by the six enemies (desire, anger, infatuation, greed, pride and envy). Of the six, the primary ones are Kama (desire) and Krodha (anger).

Although Kama and Krodha figure in two different forms, Krodha (anger) is derived from Kama (desire). Even greed, infatuation, pride and envy are the outcome of desire. The six enemies are derivations of the first one, namely, Kama (desire).

Desire arouses Apeksha (expectations). These expectations relate to the senses. When the expectations are not realised, disappointment turns into anger. The anger gives rise to Sammoha (mental aberrations). These aberrations lead to the loss of memory (of what is right and wrong).

With the loss of memory, the intellect gets destroyed. When the intellect is destroyed, everything is lost. Thus, Kama (sensual desire) is the root cause of all ruin, infamy and sorrow. Hence it is essential to control desires and lead a life of self-restraint.

Advent of Pathri, birth place of Sai Baba

Today I do not intend to speak on Navarathri or Sivarathri I propose today to reveal what has not been known to anyone hitherto.

In the former Nizam's dominions, there was a remote village called Pathri. In that village there were a couple named Gangabhavadya and Devagiriamma. They were grieving over the lack of children. In answer to their prayers, a son was born on September 28, 1835.

Today is the anniversary of that day. That child was Sai Baba. As Gangabhavadya had developed a feeling of total detachment and renunciation, he decided to retire to a forest regardless of the child. Devagiriamma, who looked upon her husband as God, decided to follow the husband leaving the child.

Early years of the child

There was in the same village a Sufifakir. As he was also childless, he took charge of this child and brought him up in his home. The boy stayed in the Fakir's home for four years (1835 to 1839). The Fakir passed away in the tide of time. The Fakir's wife, who had lavished great affection on the child, was grief-stricken. To add to her worries, the boy was behaving in a troublesome manner. In those days, Hindu-Muslim differences in that area were growing alarmingly. There was considerable bitterness between members of the two communities.

What the boy used to do was to visit a Hindu temple and sing songs in praise of Allah. "Mein Allah hoo!" ("I am God"). "Allah Malik hai!" ("Allah is the Supreme Lord"). He used to declaim in this manner in the temple. The Hindus used to chastise the boy in various ways for his misbehaviour. Nor was that all. He would enter a mosque and declare: "Rama is God", "Siva is Allah." His behaviour in singing about Allah in a Hindu temple and about Rama and Siva in a mosque was a puzzle to the public. Members belonging to both the communities went to the Fakir's wife and complained about the boy's behaviour. Unable to deal with this situation the Fakir's wife handed over the boy to a high-souled, pious scholar named Venkusa, who was living near her house. The boy stayed in Venkusa's ashram for 12 years from 1839 to 1851. Venkusa was extremely fond of the boy. In every matter, he used to give priority to the young Baba's views. Seeing this, in course of time, members of the ashram developed envy towards the boy.

Arrival of Baba at Shirdi

One night in 1851, the boy left the ashram. He reached Shirdi, a very small village at the time.

He stayed there for barely two months and then went about wandering from place to place. After strolling for many years, he reached a place called Dhoop-kheda. When he was residing there, the marriage of Chandu Patel's brother's son was celebrated there.

Baba joined the marriage party and reached Shirdi again. That was in the year 1858. From that day, till 1918, he did not move out of Shirdi. He remained there for 60 years.

While at Shirdi, Baba used to converse with those coming to him, give advice to them regarding their problems and offer courage and solace to them with regard to their troubles. In this manner, Baba's activities came to be known all over the country.

At that time there was in the Maharashtra area, a Deputy Collector and Settlement Officer by name H.V. Sathe (Hari Vinayak Sathe). He was grief-stricken over the passing of his wife. Prof. G.G. Narke, a friend of Sathe, came to his house and advised Sathe that there was no purpose in grieving over his loss and that it was advisable for him to have a change of place to get over his sorrow. He suggested that it was good to have the darshan of some saint and persuaded him to come to Shirdi.

Sathe was quite an extraordinary person. On reaching Shirdi, he and Narke haddarshan of Baba. On several occasions, looking at Sathe, Baba used to laugh, sing and make strange gestures. Doubts arose in Sathe's mind whether Baba was real sage or an eccentric person. No one mentioned anything about Sathe to Baba. Sathe and Narke merely went to see Baba and sat in his presence. Baba told Sathe: "Don't worry about anything. Bodies are like water bubbles. Don't develop any attachment to the body. Develop your attachment to the Dehi (In-dwelling Spirit).

Worries are passing clouds. Have courage. Protect your child." The last remark had reference to the fact that Sathe's wife had died after giving birth to a child. Even Narke had not heard about the survival of this child. On hearing Baba's words Sathe realised that Baba was not a crazy person but one who was a Trikala jnani (who knew the past, the present and the future). Sathe, who had intended to stay for a short while just to have darshan of Baba, prolonged his stay by two more days.

Making frequent visits to Shirdi, Sathe was the first to realise that there were no proper amenities at Shirdi for those coming to Baba. The place where he provided residential accommodation for visitors is "Sathe Wada." Sathe was the first to set up apartments at Shirdi.

Building at Shirdi

While serving in this manner, Sathe went again to Shirdi after he began to feel whether there was any purpose in his continuing to earn income and accumulate wealth. On seeing, Sathe, Baba smilingly said: "You appear to be losing interest in your job. You are wondering how to dispose of the wealth you have acquired. Why give it to anyone? Use it for a good cause. Build a 'Koti' in Shirdi." Sathe told Baba: "Swami! I am not a millionaire. How can I build a mansion here?"

Baba replied: "Go on doing as much as you can. Why fear when I am here?" Baba encouraged Sathe in this manner.

In due course, Sathe's maternal uncle, Kelkar, settled down in Shirdi. Sathe used to send funds from Poona and his uncle used to carry on the constructions in Shirdi.

In this way, Baba used Sathe as his instrument. He regarded Sathe as his right hand in regard to all matters. Because Baba was keeping Sathe close to him and relying on him for everything, the residents of Shirdi grew jealous towards him. "Many are content to do nothing themselves, but they cannot bear seeing others do things and will carry tales against them." (A Telugu poem).

Several persons used to come to Baba and tell stories against Sathe. What is the appropriate name for such tale-bearers? They should be called "enemies of beggars" (namely, barking dogs).

A judge for a judge

At Shirdi, Baba used to do two notable things. One was to receive money from whoever came to him. He used to ask for Dakshina (cash offering). He did not ask for large sums. It was two rupees or five rupees. He would receive the money and give it away immediately in their presence. He kept nothing with himself.

One day a man by name Pradhan came to Baba. He had intended to offer twenty rupees to Baba. In those days, there were no currency notes. Everything was in silver coins; not like the alloy coins of today. In those days every rupee contained one full tola of silver. Pradhan thought that instead of offering so many silver coins, it would be better to offer one gold sovereign to Baba.

Baba turned the sovereign this way and that and remarked: "How is it I have not seen such a coin before?" A person near Baba said: "It is a gold coin." Baba then observed: "I don't want this.

Give me the money in rupees." He asked how much the sovereign was worth. At that time it was worth fifteen rupees. Getting back the sovereign, Pradhan gave fifteen rupees to Baba.

Immediately Baba remarked: "Pradhan! You have to give me five more rupees!" Pradhan was a judge at the time. Pradhan as well as persons around him wondered why Baba was demanding five more rupees when a sovereign was worth-only fifteen rupees.

Noticing Pradhan's hesitation, Baba told him: "First hand over the five rupees and then think about it." Pradhan gave the five rupees. Then Baba observed: "When you set out from your home, how much did you want to offer to Baba? You intended to give twenty rupees. You gave only fifteen. So I was entitled to ask for five more." When Pradhan heard these words, he was stupefied. He admitted that Sai Baba was a good judge.

In this manner, Baba was in the habit of collecting money from those who came to him and to give it away to the needy.

Sai: the Guru

One day, he summoned Kelkar and told him, "Today is Guru Poornima. Perform Guru Puja to me." No one there knew the meaning of Guru Puja. Kelkar asked Baba what Guru Puja meant.

Baba asked: "Who do you think is a guru ? It is not the pontiffs of Maths who are gurus. Nor are sanyasins (renunciants)gurus; God alone is the Guru (Preceptor)." "Brahmanandam Paramasukhadam Kevalam Jnaanmurthim Dwandwa-athitham"(He is Supreme Bliss, the giver of Divine happiness, the embodiment of the HighestAdvaitic Knowledge and one who transcends all dualities. He is Supreme Divine Preceptor). "He is Brahma, He is Vishnu, He is Maheswara, He is the Supreme Absolute. Salutations to that Supreme Guru. The true guru is one who combines the three forms of the Trinity, the gods who preside over creation, protection and dissolution. Thus God alone is the real Guru" declared Baba. On hearing this, Kelkar asked:

"Should I worship Brahma, Vishnu or Rudra?" Baba declared in a voice of assumed anger: "Eh Saitan! Here I am! Offer worship to Me!" Thereby Baba made known that He was Brahma, Vishnu and Rudra. All those present felt that Baba was the Divine incarnate.

Sathe leaves Shirdi

As the days passed, the residents of Shirdi developed hatred towards Sathe because he was collecting all the offerings to Baba in a hundi to use the money for building a Mandir. Just at that time, a silver chariot with silver horses which was in Sathe's keeping, was stolen by some thieves. Sathe was the principal trustee. The people of Shirdi suspected Sathe of complicity in the theft. One day one of the residents planned to strike Sathe with an axe on the way. Getting wind of this, his maternal uncle called Sathe and urged him to leave immediately as it was too dangerous, for him to stay there. He told Sathe that he could worship Baba wherever he might be. Reluctantly Sathe left Shirdi.

Baba used to ask for Sathe ceaselessly. But Sathe was not there. Baba appeared to be in great distress. Sathe was near and dear to Baba. The devotees felt that Baba was sorely affected by the absence of Sathe.

About this time, the parents of Shyam came to Shirdi with the two-year old child. Shyam's father had just retired from service and decided to settle down in Shirdi. The boy's name was Mohan Shyam. The parents called him Mohan, while Baba called him Shyam. The boy was put to school at Shirdi and in due course he completed his studies and received training as a teacher. He was appointed as a teacher at Shirdi. The school adjoined Baba's room. During the day, Shyam would be teaching at school. There was a ventilator in the wall separating Baba's room and the classroom. Shyam used to watch Baba at nights through the ventilator. He used to notice Baba talking to himself, getting angry at times, or laughing to himself, or doing other curious things.

Baba used to sleep on an eighteen-inch-wide plank suspended from the ceiling. Shyam was apprehensive that Baba might fall off from his lofty but narrow perch during sleep.

Baba's concern for Devotees

Once he mustered courage to ask Baba while massaging his feet: "Swami! You don't seem to sleep at all at nights. You are laughing to yourself or talking. What is the secret of all this?" "You simpleton! Do you imagine you are the only person about whom I am concerned in this world?

There are numerous persons who are praying to me. I am speaking to all of them," replied Baba. "When I turn my finger, I am turning their minds. When I laugh, I am amused at their follies. These are the things I am doing for my devotees, dear child." Shyam prayed to Baba: "Swami! My classes don't take up much of my time. Let me stay with you during the rest of the time and serve you."

At that time there was a woman called Laxmibai who used to cook the food for Baba. Shyam used to go to her and assist her in the preparation of jowar rotis. Baba had a great liking for brinjals. Shyam went to Laxmibai to learn how to prepare brinjal dishes. Shyam went on serving Baba in this way and he alone knew the joy he derived from such service.

Baba's way of disciplining devotees

Baba often used to fly into a temper. This was only an outward appearance. Sometimes he used to throw a stick at someone ten feet away. Shyam once asked him: "Swami! You are hurling the stick at the man in such a rage. Supposing something happened to him and he died, will you not get a bad name?" Baba replied sharply: "Saithan! You keep quiet. That fellow's life is in my hands. He will die only if I permit him. You better mind your business. Why are you bothered about others? That man will come to his senses only if he sees me in this manner. If I am indulgent they will try to ride the high horse." Thus, in this way, Baba used to discipline people by threats and harsh words. "It is only with this aim in view I am displaying anger and not for any other purpose." This secret was revealed by Baba only to Shyam and none else. Baba's life is really a saga of love and nothing else.

Keeping Shyam near him and allowing him to serve him, Baba spent many years. One day, Baba called Pradhan and asked him to construct a small tank.

Pradhan was thus the first to be involved in the building of a Samadhi for Baba.

It was the year 1918. Pradhan's wife, who was living in her native village, had a dream in which Baba appeared to have passed away. Pradhan was in Shirdi. On waking up, Pradhan's wife started crying over the passing of Baba in her dream. At that moment she heard a voice in the house declaring: "Don't say that Baba has died. Say that Baba is in a state of Samadhi." Samadhi means equal-mindedness. "Life and death are alike. Joy and sorrow, profit and loss are the same.

Hence, there is no such thing as death for Baba"--this was what the voice declared. When she was trying to find out wherefrom this voice came, she received a message from her husband conveying the news of the passing of Baba. That occurred onVijayadasami day (in 1918).

September 28 (1835) was his date of birth. On Vijayadasami day, he gave up his body. Although this year Vijayadasami falls on September 29, in the year of Baba's Samadhi, the date was different.

Sai's advent: the mystery

On account of the passage of time and circumstances, no one knew the exact dates of Baba's birth and passing. In this context, the mystery relating to Baba's birth should be noted. One devotee wrote a poem (Sanskrit) in which he offered his "salutations to the One born in Pathri, who lived in Dwarakamayi and who was the protector of devotees."

When Gangabhavadya and Devagiriamma were living in Pathri village, they were worshipers of Iswara and Parvathi. They had no offspring for a long time. They intensified their prayers. Gangabhavadya used to ply boats near the village for a living. One night, when it was raining heavily, Gangabhavadya left his house to take care of the boats, telling his wife that he would not be returning in the night. After the husband had left, having an early meal, Devagiriamma took her food and went to bed. At 9 p.m. there was a knock at the door. Devagiriamma opened the door, expecting the likely return of her husband. A very old man entered the house. He pleaded: "It is very cold outside. Please permit me, mother, to stay inside." As a pious woman, she allowed him to stay in the inside verandah and went in after bolting the inner door.

A little while later, there was a knock on the inner door. She opened the door. The old man said: "I am feeling hungry; give me some food." Finding that there was no food, the woman mixed some flour with curds and gave it to him. There was again another knock after some time. When she opened the door, the old man said: "My legs are aching. Mother, will you massage them?" Devagiriamma went inside, sat in the prayer room and prayed: "Oh Mother! Why are you testing me like this? What should I do? Should I serve him or refuse?"

Going out of the house by the back door she went in search of someone who could be engaged to render this service. No one was available. Again there was a knock by the old man. At the same time a woman knocked at the back door. She said: "It appears you came to my house and sought some feminine help. I was away at the time. Please let me know what service I should render."

Feeling happy that Goddess Parvathi herself had sent the woman in response to her prayers, Devagiriamma sent the newcomer to the verandah for serving the old man and closed the door.

The old man and the new woman were none other than Parameswara and Parvathi the divine couple. Parameswara told Parvathi: "Fulfil the cherished desires of this lady." Parvathi told Easwara: "You are the Supreme. Please shower your grace on her Yourself." Easwara said: "I came to test her. You came in answer to her prayers. Hence you must bless her." There was a knock on the door again. This time Devagiriamma promptly opened the door, because of the presence of another woman there. Parvathi and Parameswara appeared before her in their divine form. Unable to contain her joy, Devagiriamma fell at their feet. Parvathi then blessed her: "I grant you a son to maintain the lineage and a daughter for Kanyakadana (a girl to be offered in marriage)." Then she fell at the feet of Easwara. Easwara said: "I am immensely pleased with your devotion. I shall take birth as your third child." When Devagiriamma got up, the Divine couple were not there. Feeling ecstatic over this experience, Devagiriamma was eagerly expecting the return of her husband in the morning to relate to him the whole story.

The husband returned in the morning. Eagerly awaiting his arrival she related to him all that had happened the previous night. The husband said: "Devagiri! What is all this fanciful tale! It is all a dream. Parvathi and Parameswara appearing before you and giving darshan! It is pure fantasy!"

Gangabhavadya dismissed the whole episode as incredible and fanciful.

But, as the years passed, Devagiriamma became enceinte and a son was born. A year later a daughter was born. Gangabhavadya was convinced that the birth of the two children was the result of the blessing conferred by Parvathi and Parameswara. He told his wife: "You had the good fortune (to be blessed by the Divine couple). I did not have that luck." When Devagiriamma conceived again, Gangabhavadya began to feel an urge to give up hearth and home and go in search of the Divine couple. He announced to his wife that he was leaving for the forest to do penance. The devoted wife that she was, Devagiriramma decided to follow him, though she was in the ninth month of her pregnancy. After proceeding some distance, she developed labour pains. She delivered a boy. Wrapping the babe in a piece of cloth, she left the child by the roadside and followed her husband.

Because of these circumstances, no one knew who the parents of the child were. The Fakir who found the child brought him home and took care of him. Baba's life-story is known only from the time of his arrival in Shirdi.

The difference between devotees and disciples

In 1917, Baba once called Abdul Baba, Nana Chandorkar, Mhalsapathi, Das Ganu and others and started asking each of them: "Do you know who you are?" Each of them replied: "I am your sishya (disciple)." Baba said: "Nonsense! Don't use that term any longer. I have no disciples in this world. I have countless devotees. You do not recognise the distinction between a disciple and a devotee. Anyone can be a devotee. But that is not the case with the disciple.

A disciple is one who carries out implicitly the commands of the guru (the preceptor). The mark of the sishya is total devotion to the preceptor. Only the man who says, "I have none in the world other than the preceptor is a disciple. How far have you respected my injunctions? How are you entitled to claim that you are my disciples? Only the one who follows me like my shadow can claim to be my disciple. The devotee is one who prays to the Lord wherever he may be. Hence, there is a big difference between a disciple and a devotee. The disciple and the preceptor are like two bodies with one spirit. The disciple should have no sense of separateness from the preceptor. He should feel, 'I and you are one.' There are no such disciples to be found in the world. There are millions of devotees, but no disciples."

Baba and Shyam, the only disciple

On hearing this, Shyam was in deep pain. He felt within himself: "Apart from serving at your feet, I have no other concern." Baba then went into another room and called Shyam inside. "In this entire world, for me you are the only disciple. All others are only devotees." At that moment, Shyam fell at the feet of Baba, and cried out, "You alone, you alone" (are my refuge) and breathed his last.

In all his life of over 82 years, Baba had never shed a tear in the presence of devotees. When Shyam passed away he shed three drops of tears. The devotees present there said: "Swami! Why do you feel so grieved? All are in your hands." Baba replied: "Dear boys! I am not grieving at all. Almost all his sins had been wiped out already. By the three tear drops I shed, the remaining sins (of Shyam) have been washed away."

All that Baba said or did was for the good of the devotees alone. Towards the end, Abdul Baba came to Baba. Baba told him: "I shall appear again and give you darshan." "When will that be?" asked Abdul. Baba told him: "It will be after eight years."

"The first advent of Sai was in Maharashtra. The second advent will be in Madras," Baba said. It should be noted that when this form (Sathya Sai) made Its advent, Andhra Pradesh was part of Madras Presidency.

Advent of Sathya Sai after Shirdi Sai

When he was asked, in what form the next advent would take place, Shirdi Baba told Abdul Baba alone: "I will give darshan in the name of Sathya for upholding Truth." That is the present advent.

The two bodies are different, but the Divinity is one. The first advent was for revealing Divinity. The second advent is to awaken the Divinity (in human beings). The next advent is for propagating Divinity. The three Sais are' Shirdi Sai, Sathya Sai and Prema Sai.

The reason for relating all this is that today happens to be the birthday of Shirdi Baba (September 28, 1835). Baba attained Samadhi in 1918. Bodies are transient. These vestures are assumed only for the sake of devotees. Unless the Divine comes with a form, no one can develop faith in the Formless. The Divine in human form is the preparation for comprehending the Formless Absolute.

The truth about God cannot be understood by anyone. He is infinitely vast. He is minuter than the atom. No one can know what is the macrocosm and what is the microcosm. Because of this mystery, one devotee sang:

Can any one unravell your mystery

Oh Krishna! You are vaster than the vastest;

You are subtler than the atom.

All the countless beings in the world

Cannot grasp your baffling mystery

How can anyone know your Infinite

Cosmic form, Oh Krishna!

Nor is that all.

Among the great thieves, you are the greatest,

How can anyone know you, oh Krishna!

The ordinary thieves take away wealth and riches. But this extraordinary Divine thief steals the hearts of people. Hence, when God is described as Chitta Chora (the stealer of hearts)or Badaa Chitta Chora (the greatest stealer of hearts), the appellation is not derogatory but delightful.

If you call anyone, "You thief!" he will get angry. But when you sing "Chitta chora Yasoda ke Baal" (Oh thief of hearts, Yasoda's darling!) everyone rejoices. The chitta chora confers delight on those whose hearts he steals. But the Vitha Chora (the one who robs you of your wealth) causes you misery. The mundane thieves take away your wealth. But the Lord steals your hearts.

It is not easy, therefore, for anyone to understand the ways of the Lord. When one cannot understand the ways of the Divine, it is best to keep silent and at least refrain from indulging in grievous misinterpretation. Seek, therefore, to understand the ways of God and through devotion and worship strive to experience the Divine.

Om Sairam dearest Sai Family,

(First of all, I want to apologise you all, as some devotees did not like some of the words that were used in some of my updates about Swami.. I whole heartedly apologise and they are not intentional. In future I will be doubly careful and I really don't have any intention of sensationalising this particular episode of Swami's hospitalisation)

The Village Deity Sathyamma's statue, which was thrown in the river because of a small damage a year ago, was brought back to Parthi in a huge procession.One lady from Puttaparthi, was possessed by Goddess Sathyamma and she said, all will be fine if the statue was brought back to Parthi. Hearing this every one rushed to the river but couldn't find the statue which was immersed in Bukkapatnam river less than a year ago. Immediately that lady who was possessed by Goddess Sathyamma was taken to the river and she showed the exact place where was the statue was deep under water.

Here is a small video attatched which shows the happiness of the villagers of Parthi, while the Goddess was brought back to Parthi.

This might sound bit weird to many, but FAITH IS GOD. When it is comes with Swami and His (physical) well being, we are ready to do anything... All the positive Vibes will definitely yield positive results.

While I am typing this email, watching the latest news in various telugu news channels, just now Minister Mrs.Geetha Reddy who is camping in Parthi for a week now, speaking to media persons said this good news about Swami. to roughly translate, she said, Swami's all the vital organs are functioning properly. He is still on ventilation and the CRRT dialysis is being continued. She said, if Swami's kidneys get back to normal, He will be perfectly normal without any more complications. Swami's BP and liver is fine. His temperature is also normal. Only thing is Kidneys have to become normal. If He wills it will definitely happen even without the help of the doctors. He is opening His eyes and His holy Feet and hands are moving. His respiratory system is fine. She continued: I JUST GOT INSIDE INFORMATION, TODAY MORNING, BHAJANS WERE SUNG FOR SWAMI (PROBABLY IT HAPPENED IN THE HOSPITAL BHAJAN HALL AND IT WAS AUDIBLE TO SWAMI WITH THE HELP OF SPEAKERS IN ICU) and after some time when some one approached Swami asking if arathi is to be given, Swami signaled for Arathi!!!! This news is a VERY VERY GOOD NEWS for every one us... It is just a great relief and definitely a welcome news. Because of tubes in His mouth, He is not talking but He is nodding His head.

Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Sri.Ashok Chavan came to Parthi. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, who was expected to come to Parthi didnt come. Many of you are anxious thinking that Swami is not keeping good health
over the last few days. In fact, My health is very good. Real health is not
related to the body. As you equate Swami with this physical frame, it
appears as though Swami is not well. Yad Bhavam Tad Bhavati (as is the
feeling, so is the result). Do not identify Me with this physical body. I am
not Dehaswarupa (body), I am Dehi (the indweller). There is no difference
between you and Me. I have all powers in Me. But you are deluded seeing
My physical form. Whatever I am doing is only to satisfy the doctors and
other devotees. As a matter of fact, there is no trace of ill-health in Me. I
am always healthy. Not only today, till 96 years I will be like this. I
can do whatever I want. But those who go by the physical form think that
Swami is ageing. Youth and old age are related to the body and not to
Me. I am always the same. I can do anything. However, this body is
yours. This has come for your sake. You can change it the way you like. If
you think that Swami is strong and healthy, yes so He is. There is no
weakness in Me. My angas (limbs) may appear to be weak. But I am not

Dr. Safaya:

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba was admitted to this Hospital (Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram) on March 28, 2011 with the complaint of slowing down of heart and intermittent cardiac block. He was immediately rushed to the Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab) of this Hospital along with the doctors and was given a pacemaker; an angiography study of the heart was also done.

After the procedures were completed, He was admitted into the ICU and was watched carefully by a panel of doctors of this Hospital. Later in the day, He started developing slightly lower blood pressure which was persisting to remain low. In order to bring up the blood pressure, an Intra Aortic Balloon (IABP) was fitted up into Him in the Cath Lab again where He was shifted to. In the Cath Lab, Swami tolerated the balloon very well, the blood pressure and His cardiac condition improved remarkably. He was taken back to the intensive care after this and closely watched by the panel of doctors.

By this time, the Hospital’s panel of doctors wanted some help from outside and specialists from Bangalore were flown in to help and guide them. So this continued, and soon the intra aortic balloon was removed. Swami was progressing well but His basic muscular weakness and lack of effort on His part to throw out the sputum led us to the only way of putting the tube into His wind pipe so that through that tube we could suck the secretions which accumulate in the lungs. If we allow these secretions to accumulate in the lungs, chances of infection and pneumonia in the lungs develop rapidly which adversely affect the life of the patient. In order to avoid that He was intubated and connected to a ventilator to give rest to the lungs.

As the procedure was going on, we discovered that gradually the urine output was also going down giving an indication that the kidneys are also gradually not so effective as they should be, therefore it was necessary to assist the kidneys. Otherwise the toxins in the blood could not be removed; it is the job of the kidneys to remove these toxins - the nitrogen products of metabolism from the body. Therefore dialysis was contemplated and done. After this, it was felt that this dialysis is needed for a longer period because kidneys did not show immediate response. As a result, we started a process of dialysis which is now put into practice by most of the advanced centres of intensive care and is known as CRRT.

This machine does a very slow dialysis continuously for longer time. So in that way it differs from the hemodialysis which Swami has undergone earlier. In order to let the kidneys revive completely it was necessary to put on this device on which He was functioning till today morning when again hemodialysis was done because it was felt that the toxins were not being completely removed by this slow dialysis process. We did a hemodialysis with intervention of certain filters and discs through which the blood was passing through and the result was that the toxins were removed quite a bit and these discs also have impregnated antibiotics which are specific for the type of infections that such patients develop, and this type of dialysis showed quite good results in the sense that the lung infection cleared quite a bit and His conscious level improved.

In the morning today, He was quite responsive to outside stimuli. Because of the tube in the mouth and tubes around He could not talk of course but He was nodding His head, responding to our queries. So this was a very good development and the doctors felt encouraged. That is the condition now; He is currently in pretty stable condition, with stable blood pressure, stable respiration rate, blood-gas analysis - the status of oxygenation of the body is also very good and maintained, and the level of electrolytes - sodium, potassium, etc. is also fairly well. Therefore we have hope that the crises will be tided over. Although I would say that Swami still continues to be in a critical state of health.

So the efforts of the doctors are going on and shall go on and He is being constantly - every second - being watched and monitored by the doctors and the machines. There is no question of any let down in that respect.

A team of senior and reputed doctors from this Hospital is working on Him. It consists of:

1) Dr. P. K. Dash
2) Dr. R. Iyer
3) Dr. Neelam Desai

They are assisted by Dr. Prakash Nair, Dr. Shinde and Dr. Rita.

Dr. Krishna Das and his team consisting of Dr. Rajan Anand, Dr. Patnaik and Dr. Ranga are doing a wonderful round the clock job of watching over the conditions of Swami in the intensive care unit. The other doctor involved is Dr. K. S. R. K. Prasad from the Department of Ophthalmology.

Besides this, a large of number of about 14 to 15 doctors from outside have been consulted, who have been either flown-in or have come by car to this place. I would like to particularly mention the following:

1) Dr. P. Venugopal, the former Director of AIIMS, New Delhi and a famous cardio-thorasic surgeon of the country
2) Dr. Ashok Seth, a famous cardiologist of the country from Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi
3) Dr. Sandeep Dewan also from Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi, who is very well known intensive care specialist
4) Dr. Amit Verma again from Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi
5) Dr. Subash Chandra from the Department of Cardiology, Manipal Hospital, Bangalore
6) Dr. Uday Muthani, Nephrologist in the Parkinsons Foundation, Bangalore
7) Dr. Ravi Mehta, Intensivist of the Fortis Hospital, Bangalore
8) Dr. Arun, Nephrologist, Vaidehi Institute of Higher Medical Sciences & Mallya Hospital, Bangalore
9) Dr. Kishore Babu, Nephrologist of Vaidehi Institute of Higher Medical Sciences & Mallya Hospital, Bangalore
10) Dr. Mudgil, Gastroenterologist from UK
11) Dr. Narendra Reddy, Endocrinologist from California, USA

This is the panel of doctors from outside who are being consulted by our native doctors team who are working round the clock - every minute and every second - for the love of Swami.

At this point I should mention that we are grateful to the Government of Andhra Pradesh for sending a team of doctors – four specialists headed by the Director of Medical Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, to look into the treatment of Swami and suggest any improvements which they think could be incorporated in the overall treatment. In fact, it was Dr. Ravi Raju, the Director of Medical Education who suggested that it is better to put Swami on the CRRT and that suggestion was immediately incorporated in the process of the treatment of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

We are also grateful to them to keep a Liaison Officer over here, Dr. Ashok Kumar who is collaborating with our doctors and transmitting information, minute-to-minute, event-to-event, to the Director of Medical Education and receiving valuable guidance from him which our doctors are looking into; this is very helpful. This is very welcome gesture on their part.

While all this is going on, Swami’s illness is a great shock to His devotees and to the doctors of this Institute who are also His devotees plus professionals. The sole reason for not allowing everybody to come into the Hospital is to keep the environmental hygiene of the Hospital perfectly under control. Particularly in the ICU nobody is permitted where the treatment of Bhagawan is being done because the purpose is very sacred, that is, not to increase the medical complications because of infection. We would be very grateful if the public and devotees understand this and not try to pressurize us or trespass into the premises of the Hospital.

In this case I may mention that even the very important persons coming here so as to enquire about the health of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba cannot enter the nearest area of the Intensive Care Unit where Bhagawan is undergoing treatment. We make it possible for them to meet the doctors concerned or the head of the team or myself and they leave the hospital quietly after we have briefed them. This is important from the point of view of infection which can destroy any good work done by the doctors. We all feel proud along with my doctors team to be able to serve Bhagawan in this hour of His critical health.

Prof. G.V.: Do you feel Swami is in a better condition now than when He came to the Hospital?

Dr. A.N.S: Yes, I feel so.

Prof. G.V.: I positively look forward to seeing Him back to normal not in distant future…

Dr. A.N.S: His response since morning is very encouraging and I feel that this would definitely happen.

6th April 2011 : Medical Bulletin released at 1800 hrs. this evening reads...

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba continues to be in a stable condition of health. His clinical parameters like blood pressure, respiratory rate, biochemistry of the blood and other parameters are satisfactory.

His respiration is easier than before and His dialysis support has also been reduced.

The level of consciousness is also showing perceptible improvement.

The panel of doctors attending upon Him is keeping a strict watch on all His clinical parameters and state of health.

6th April 2011 : Bhagawan's health conditions shows marked improvement as reported by SSSIHMS this morning at 0800 hrs.

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba who has entered His 10th day of treatment at this hospital is in a stable state of health as He was yesterday.

There are signs of improvement in the functioning of His kidneys although He is still on dialysis. He continues to be on the ventilator for assisting His respiration.

The blood pressure and all other parameters are satisfactory. The panel of doctors treating Him is keeping a constant watch over His health condition.

The situation in Puttaparthi is getting to more RELAXED mood. Even though thousands of police are still here, the movement of vehicles has been relaxed as against yesterday where all the main roads and also sub roads were blocked.

Swami is still in the hospital and the good news is that His condition is more stable now.

The whole India's media and also channels like BBC, CNN are now camping in Parthi interviewing devotees and also many are un- necessarily creating issues about Our Swami's trust and its members. When Swami is in such a situation, it is completely UNETHICAL to discuss such delicate issues and when Swami is there very much with us, many news channels are having discussons as who will be Swami's successor, who will look after the trust etc etc, which is completely un necessary at this point of time

I remember, Swami has told many a times in His discourses, that Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust will exist as long as the Sun and Moon exists and no one should have second thoughts about this.

The news channels that are airing the news from Parthi, are purposely doing this to increase thier TRPs and atleast 90% of reporters are not Swami's devotees, or not the people who have any knowledge about His teachings and values, and one would imagine what kind of news they can broadcast when they don't have any back ground information of Living Avatar of this Kali Age.

For the first time, Dr.Safaya along with Dr.Ravi Raj (Urologist, appointed by Government of Andhra Pradesh) , Mr. L.V.Subramanyam (principle secretary, Finance, Government of Andhra Pradesh, who coincidentally happens to be former student of Swami who did HIs UG and PG in Brindavan campus from 1976 to 1981) spoke to the media.

Every one raised eye brows when brother L.V.Subramanyam was sent to Parthi and he DENIED categorically that the government was considering the option of taking over the trust. Even ministers,Mrs.Geetha Reddy and Mr.Raghuveera Reddy denied these allegations. The news channels were raising this issue again and again and the reason for me to repeat the same in this email is to request Sai brothers and sisters, to stay away from such false propaganda.

Swami has made it clear that every rupee that is spent through the trust is done with utmost care and it only goes to the needy and not to the greedy.

Dr. Ravi Raj while speaking to the media persons said that there is no need to worry about Swami's condition even though He is still critical.

Swami's condition has improved a lot since the day of His admission into the hospital

All the vital organs in the body are responding to the treatment which is a positive sign.But many of the vital organs of the body are functioning with external support and He continous to be on Continous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) to assist the functioning of kidneys and He is responding to the CRRT which is a good sign.

As there is a possibility of infection no one is allowed to go into the ICU.

Swami is very much conscious and is able to hear as well, but due to pipes that are in His mouth that are needed to provide treatment He is not able to talk.

We have no plans to shift Bhagawan to any other hospital as the Super Speciality hospital in Puttaparthi has ultra modern facilities needed for His treatment more over expert doctors from reputed institutions from India and abroad are monitoring Swami's situation.

Dr.Safaya said, "We are trying our best to bring Him out of difficult situation. Baba Should Himself have the sankalpa (will)"

As many people were demanding to release the video footage of Swami in ICU (which is a wierd demand) , Dr.Ramesh said, it would amount to violation of human rights to take photos of some one while He/She is in ICU.

Brothers and Sisters, we all know it is a bit difficult time for all of us to go through. Many non beleiver friends would be asking us so many questions, all the media propaganda. Brothers and Sisters, lets be doubly ASSURED that there is nothing SUSPICIOUS that is happening. All is well with Swami. There is no one here in Parthi who is misleading, except the electronic and print media.

The best way for us to over come this situation is to ask our MIND TO SHUT UP. because it is all our Mind that is creating all this chaos.
