Okay, I'm wondering if anyone can help point me in the right
direction here. I have a friend who's been suffering from chest
pains, really bad panic attacks, high blood pressure, and an ulcer
for the past several days, and I know a lot of it is due to
psychological stress, rooted in depression and anxiety. She's unable
to work, and she's being cared for by another mutual friend, who's
barely making enough to support both of them, and they have no
medical benefits. I know absolutely nothing about finding medical
help for underprivileged adults. Can someone point me in the right
direction? Or if you think you might know of someone who might know,
can you please pass on this request? They live in the San Diego
area. (And I live near Seattle, so there's not a whole lot I can do
for them.)
A few other things:
1. She's too afraid to talk to a professional and explain her
problems, so she would need her friend to go in with her and explain
what her problems are.
2. She's allergic to most drugs, so a doctor would need to somehow
test for that or know what drugs that she can and can't take.
3. She doesn't trust doctors to be able to prescribe drugs that she
won't have a bad reaction to, because her mom has had the same
problem and was almost killed twice because of doctors who tried to
prescribe wrong drugs.
4. She doesn't want to try a new drug without her mom thinking it
might be okay, except she doesn't want to tell her mom why she needs
to take drugs.
Any advice you can tell me would be appreciated. Thanks.
