California Pastor Pleads to Sex Offense
5/1/2009
A former youth pastor and choir director at two local churches has pled
guilty to molestation and child pornography charges.
Timothy Ryan Jamison, 48, of Modesto was convicted of two felonies related
to the molestation of a 4-year-old boy and possession of child pornography,
according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office.
Upon entry of the plea, Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge John Freeland
sentenced Jamison to three years and eight months in state prison.
"He basically pled guilty to everything and threw himself on the mercy of
this court," said Deputy District Attorney Annette Rees, who prosecuted the
case. "This was as good as it would get for Jamison."
According to the court records, Jamison was renting a room in October 2007
from a Modesto family. The mother of the 4-year-old boy Jamison was accused
of molesting said she caught Jamison fondling the child over his clothes.
Jamison was evicted from the home and a report was made to the Modesto
Police Department.
A search of Jamison's car, room, and a storage shed on the church property,
yielded a significant amount of child pornography, according to the
prosecution. During the 18 months that the case proceeded toward trial,
several other young boys were also identified as victims of Jamison, Rees
said.
In addition to his prison sentence, Jamison will be a lifetime sex offender
registrant, and before being released on parole, he will have to be
evaluated for civil commitment as a Sexually Violent Predator.
"That is always a critical component of these convictions," Rees said. "We
want to know where these guys are, at all times. If he ever does get parole,
he will be wearing a GPS tracker."
