A former missionary and youth pastor and was sentenced Friday to more than
five years in federal prison for possessing child pornography.
Joel Price, 36, was indicted last year after authorities said he had more
than 6,000 pictures and 250 video clips on his computer of children engaged
in sex.
After his arrest, Price, who lived in Deltona, resigned from his job with
the Sanford-based New Tribes Mission.
In March, Price pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography. Prosecutors
dismissed two counts of distributing child pornography.
U.S. District Court judge John Antoon II also ordered Price to register as a

that specializes in sex offender treatment. He can't have direct contact
with children and can't use a computer with access to any online services,
according to court records.
