Description

Discussion of the design and construction of small model railroad layouts.

PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT ACCEPT "SALES AND WANTS" ADVERTS - EBAY IS THERE FOR THEM.

This group is intended for the average model railroader who does not have an entire basement or even an entire room to devote to a layout. Here we will discuss smaller layouts -- table-tops, shelf layouts, micro-layouts, modules and modular layouts -- and how they can be designed and built for enjoyment and modelling satisfaction.

This is an example borrowed from Carl Arendt's excellent site http://carendt.us/scrapbook/linkindex/index.html and at http://carendt_backup.gully.org/

Due to past restrictions in file space, 3 separate groups had been set up for the sharing of design files.

... Agreed. And it doesn't have to be obvious. The continuous run connection can even be hidden in the staging.

I have nothing against a continuous trackplan. My G scale is raised on plywood for ease in uncoupling and throwing switches, and I plough snow (up to 4" deep).

IMHO a layout without a continuous run is a pain in the proverbial. I have a preference for switching but how many of you are like me. Your eyes are glued to
