This is a small community of pantheists who live in or visit western North Carolina, a local group affiliated with the
World Pantheist Movement, or WPM.
For those of you who live in another part of North Carolina or in South Carolina, there is also the
WPM
Carolinas List.
Do you find it impossible to believe in supernatural beings, and difficult to conceive of anything more worthy of reverence than the beauty of nature or the power of the universe?....Do you feel a deep sense of peace and belonging and wonder in the midst of nature, in a forest, by the ocean, or on a mountain top? Are you speechless with awe when you look up at the sky on a clear moonless night and see the Milky Way strewn with stars as thick as sand on a beach? When you see breakers crashing on a rocky shore, or hear wind rustling in a poplar's leaves, are you uplifted by the energy and creativity of existence? If you answer yes to these questions as asked on the WPM website, then you may be a pantheist.
We welcome people who are either already members of the WPM and proudly call themselves pantheists, those who are interested in joining up, or those who are at least sympathetic with its
credo. WPM membership is not required. We meet to share and discuss WPM issues and info, contribute to Pan magazine, share a meal and good conversation, and become the real-life expression in our local communities of the internet-based WPM. Our spirituality is intimately intertwined with nature, and while sometimes we are content experiencing it privately, at other times we want to share it with a small group of friends who feel similarly.
