This is a Listserv to provide attorneys, non-attorney advocates, and law students representing immigrant youth a place to exchange ideas and strategies on legal cases and advocacy.
Members will have access to (1) previous posts divided into folders by subject matter, (2) resource documents (model briefs, memos, CIS and ORR policies, regulations, etc.) also divided into folders by subject matter, (3) a directory of all of the list serve’s members and their contact information, (4) on-line live discussions among members, and (5) links to web sites of relevant organizations. Members may post messages without a moderators approval. Posts may address individual cases, CIS/ORR/ICE/EOIR/local courts' practices, pending or potential litigation, legislative and administrative advocacy, etc.
In order to promote frank exchanges about pending or potential cases and litigation, the list-serve will not include Government employees or individuals serving as Government contractors or consultants. However, an individual who provides legal representation for immigrant juveniles in state or federal proceedings, may join the list-serve even if she or he is employed by an organization that has a contract with a Government agency.
Members agree to maintain the confidentiality of all posts. By posting a message seeking guidance from other members of the Listserve, a member will not be considered to have waived any attorney-client privilege. By responding to posts, members will not be considered to have formed an attorney-client relationship with anyone. Posts may be shared with those who attorneys normally share confidential information with, including, for example, experts, investigators, co-counsel, paralegals, etc.
To join this Listserve, email your request to pschey@centerforhumanrights.org. Please include your name, organization (if any), title, and telephone number.
