Since it's the start of the month and we've got a lot of new members, here are
a few helpful pointers that will help everyone get the best use of this Group.

Please remember, this is a SELF-SERVICE Group.
You can change your e-mail Preferences at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/studio-ni/join
It's the fast way to change to "daily digest", and add another e-mail address
(or remove one, if you have too many registered).

If you're getting too many e-mails, just send a blank e-mail to
studio-ni-digest@yahoogroups.com
This will put you on "daily digest" (one e-mail a day with all the messages in
it). And if you want to stop getting e-mails altogether, e-mail
studio-ni-nomail@yahoogroups.com and follow the instructions.

- DELETE the bits of the message you don't want to repeat, and put your
message at the BOTTOM. Top-posting is lazy, amateurish and childish.

- If you want people to e-mail you off the list, put your e-mail address in the
body of your message [or in your .sig].
Some people seem to hit "reply", and thus send their response to the entire
list!

If you want to send Documents (or pictures) to the Group, here are the rules:

Please note - the Studio-NI Group provides a free service to all our (currently
over TWO THOUSAND!) members.
It's a contributor-based Group, every message comes from the members themselves.

NO F*CKING ATTACHMENTS! :-(

If someone wants to share a document (Word, PDF, whatever) or a picture with the
rest of the Group, don't just e-mail it.
Upload it to your web server (or to the Studio-NI site
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/studio-ni ) and e-mail the URL
(including the "HTTP://" bit) as part of a plain-text message.

If you use Flickr for hosting your photos, you can also join our Flickr Group:
http://flickr.com/groups/studio-ni

If you want to share a YouTube video, just add it to the Studio-NI YouTube
Group: http://www.youtube.com/group/studioni

PLEASE HELP OUR CHARITY! :)

If a well-paid office-staffer just sends us the documents and expects our unpaid
volunteers to do all the work for free,
we'll be asking for a £10 donation to the "Curing Cancer" charity campaign for
Action Cancer at
http://www.justgiving.com/orbzine

Good luck!

DATE & VENUE
Tuesday 3 April 2012, Clonard Monastery, Belfast, 8pm
BOOK NOW

Dear Mr Orb,

With spring having officially sprung with the clocks having gone forward, the Ulster Orchestra brings Vivaldi’s Four Seasons to Clonard Monastery’s beautifully restored Church of the Most Holy Redeemer tomorrow, in a concert of timeless Baroque classics, which also includes Bach’s Double Concerto for Violin and Oboe.

UO Leader, violinist Tamás Kocsis, the soloist for the amazingly popular piece said, “Vivaldi’s Four Seasons always presents a challenge, being very well known and very transparent. No wonder it's popular with audiences and performers alike, it is a beautiful set of Concertos.â€

Talking about the Bach Double, Christopher Blake, the UO’s Principal Oboe said, “You need a lot of stamina for it because the music never stops, which is unusual for a wind concerto. I have played this fantastic concerto with the last two leaders of the Orchestra and am really looking forward to performing it with Tamás, who is an extraordinary violinist.â€

A special evening in a wonderful venue - a real Easter treat.

Too Much of a Good Thing?

Case Study: Belle Dress Hire

If you were talking about Chocolate Easter Eggs, I'd probably agree that you can have too much of a good thing, but when we are extending our amazing flyer offs for 1 more month, I hope you agree that this is in the interest of all!
Throughout April, order 5000 A6 350gsm silk flyers for the amazing "once in a lifetime" (until next months offers) price of only £100. These are the best value flyers in the city of Belfast!

Easter Closing

Kaizen Print will be closed on Easter Monday and Tuesday (9th and 10th of April), re-opening Wednesday 11th April.
For our regular flyer customers, our batch will be going early this week. Artwork required 12pm Tuesday for guaranteed Friday delivery. If you require any further information please call us on 028 9002 2474 or visit our Contact form
Being a man, formal dress is limited to a black tuxedo and a pair of well-polished shoes (if even). Let's just say, that we're fortunate enough that a "one style fits all" attitude is taken across the board and as long as you are clean shaven, you tend to get away with minimal effort. Not that I'm complaining!
Over the past few months, my eyes have been opened to a new world of multi-colour, multi-styled, padded & un-padded formal dresses for women. Not that I have a new found love for womens' clothing, but rather we have helped the Belle team with their branding, promotional flyers and web design.
We will be shortly working on some fantastic social media properties for Belle, so keep an eye on their facebook page or if you want to have a quick look at our web work, you can see their new website at Dress Hire Lisburn or pick up their flyers at outlets across the province.

Fringe Benefits is also offering schools workshops on the themes in the play until June 2012 at a rate you cannot afford to miss!
Our production of Merchant of Venice takes place in the Ireland of 1912 when Belfast was enjoying an economic boom.
Merchant travel to and from the city was commonplace, Home Rule was in the air, suffragettes were on the march and there were rumblings of war  across Europe.
Whilst most notably a Shakespearean comedy, this play does deal with the problems of the day – remaining as relevant to our times as in Shakespeare's day: - Racial and religious intolerance; issues of mercy and justice, social attitudes to wealth and an ever growing attachment to materialism; fear of financial loss in the market economy of a burgeoning industrial city; romantic love and loyal friendship... it's all there! Music by students at Lagan College Belfast.
Listen in to our interview with Arts extra and hear actors Roger Dane  as the Merchant and Adrian Cooke as Shylock give a sneak preview ( around 9 minutes into the show).

Last year Derry/Londonderry musician Conor McAteer took the title winning the opportunity to shoot his own music video for his single Moonglass from his latest album ‘The Devil in Ether’.  He had to beat tough competition though from other musicians such as Dan, Red Right Return and Zia Regime.  Conor McAteer went on to join other past winners such King Coma, Turbulent EDDY and Pavessi who are all doing very well touring around the music scene in Ireland.  Other finalists that have competed in Sounds Like Summer who have went on to immense success is Derry’s Wonder Villains who have performed at Glastonbury and at Radio One’s ‘One Big Weekend’. Rainy Boy Sleep who was a finalist in 2009 and 2010 has now gone on to support James Morrison and The Commitments in their concert tours.
The Alley Theatre, Strabane is calling all bands, musicians and soloists to get involved.
Prizes Include:

An Evening of Spirit Clairvoyance with Shaun Dennis

Originally taught by A Western Mystery School over 30 years ago, Shaun Dennis is a professional stage psychic medium. Shaun has appeared at the same events as some of the best in the business, such as Weekend of Mediumship in 2010 starring Colin Fry. It is Shaun’s wish during the show, to raise our awareness of the other world, and make people realise how our spirit loved ones are still part of our lives.  Shaun’s spirit stage clairvoyance is capable of providing staggering levels of accuracy, including names and roads of residence. This promises to be a magical evening where Two Worlds truly become one. Come and be amazed!

Next reminder:   The next reminder for this event will be sent in 7 days, 4 minutes.
Location:   Naughton Studio, Lyric Theatre
Notes:   SHAKESPEARE’S SCENES UNDER SHAKESPEARE’S TREES – THIS TIME IN THE THEATRE!
Last August The Greenwood Players took the theatre into the forest with their inaugural and highly successful production of “Under the Greenwood Tree”. This time we are bringing the forest into the theatre! Inspired by the ancient oaks of Belvoir Forest - a unique wildwood in the heart of the city with some of the oldest trees in Ireland, many of them dating back to the time of the bard.
An original concept by Belfast-based internationally acclaimed author Ian McDonald, Under the Greenwood Tree is a selection of thematically-linked Shakespeare scenes, soliloquies, sonnets and songs presented as part of the RSC/Lyric Open Stages project. The greenwood plays an important role in some of Shakespeare’s most memorable and popular works, it’s the place beyond human civilisation and the intrigues of court: sometimes wild, sometimes perilous, a place of enchantment – and danger. Scenes are linked by a narrative written by Ian McDonald and we’ll feature period music, use materials from the very forest itself to stage the play and dress the location. We'll even feature stage magic and conjuring! We want to spin people out of their everyday world into a world of magic and timeless wonder.
Under the Greenwood Tree is an innovative event: a unique combination of site-specific Shakespeare favourites in a magical, thrilling, life-enhancing evening of wildwood theatre.
