Attention all students between the ages of 17-25: We would like to formally
invite you to Prague these upcoming winter holidays to participate in the
3rd Annual International Youth Leadership Conference. Join 160 fellow
students from all over the world in a fun week-long forum on the future of
world leadership and international relations. Conference dates are: July
7-12, 2002 and July 14-19, 2002.

EI PreMBA Summer 2002

Today's demanding U.S. MBA programs test more than just your academic
skills - they test your communications skills, your American business
skills, and your understanding of case study methodology. This is exactly
why you need The Economics Institute's PreMBA program.

As part of The Economic Institute's New Integrated Curriculum(TM), our
PreMBA program combines rigorous graduate-level course work, American
cultural orientation, and extracurricular activities into a richer, more
enjoyable, more rewarding experience that better prepares students for
success in U.S. MBA programs.

Since its inception in 1997, EI's PreMBA program has grown in popularity and
achievement. Many of our graduates have gone on to top U.S. MBA schools, and
our program has received praise from alumni and critics alike. According to
BusinessWeek, "By offering a crash course in MBA preparation, The Economics
Institute has responded to the frustrations felt by international students
entering U.S. MBA programs."

According to Alumnus Mauricio Hirai of Brazil, "If someone attends a
two-month long PreMBA program at EI, their first term in an MBA program will
be a piece of cake."
Alumnus Takeo Miyamoto of Japan comments, "We used some of the same cases at
UCLA as we did in the PreMBA program. I was familiar with the cases and with
this experience I could comfortably contribute to the class discussion."

EI's PreMBA program was created using input from top U.S. business schools
and is taught by world-class professors. It integrates case study
methodology and practical business experience with coursework in English,
computer applications, financial accounting, mathematics, marketing and
statistics - the foundation of U.S. MBA programs.

Best of all, EI is located in beautiful and friendly Boulder, Colorado.
According to Alumnus Daisuke Ishida or Japan, "Boulder is a great place.
Japanese students come to Boulder not only to study but also to prepare for
their life in USA."

According to Alumnus Kang-Yong Lee of Korea, "Every little bit of my daily
life in Boulder, including studying at the EI, was very precious time for
me."

If you will be entering an MBA program this fall in the U.S., find out more
about EI's Summer PreMBA programs. Find out how EI can give you the
advantage you deserve. Visit us online at www.economicsinstitute.org.

Granty pro absolventy Fulbrightova programu
Alumni Initiatives Award Program

Ministerstvo zahranicních vecí USA pripravilo ve spolupráci s institucí
Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) již tretí beh malých
grantu pro absolventy Fulbrightova programu pro vedecké pracovníky a
prednášející, nazvaný „Alumni Initiatives Award Program“ (AIA). Program

Zádost o granty AIA musí predkládat spolecne ceská a americká strana (tzn.

Cíle projektu, obsažené v grantu, by mely odpovídat cílum programu AIA,

Reinhard Mohn Fellowships, Germany

Finaid: 60,000 Euros plus other benefits or aids
Date: 1 year starting November 2002
Deadline: June 1st, 2002
Open to: all interested students

Announcement follows:

On his 80th birthday, the entrepreneur and philanthropist Reinhard Mohn
received the "Reinhard Mohn Fellowship" as a gift from the Bertelsmann AG
executive board. The fellowship pays tribute to his lifetime achievements by
sponsoring dedicated people to follow in Reinhard Mohn's footsteps.

We have chosen an innovative and progressive approach to sponsorship: each
year, we will select between five and seven talented people from all over
the world, who will spend 12 months in the Bertelsmann group, going through
a demanding Fellowship program.

The Reinhard Mohn Fellowship is intended for people who have initiated, led
or impelled innovative projects: leaders and entrepreneurial talents from
all sectors of society - business, the public and non-profit sectors,
science, culture, sports, or social services. In this particular case,
degrees and academic merit are of secondary importance - the important thing
is that their projects have made a discernible contribution to society.

Fellows are given the opportunity to obtain valuable knowledge and expertise
and build up extensive networks through selective training and a wide range
of project work in a variety of divisions and at different locations within
our global media company. Thus equipped, they are expected to expand on
their existing potential and apply it to projects in their own field of
activity. On top of this, they will become familiar with a philosophy of
leadership that will serve both as an example and as motivation. At
Bertelsmann, we not only appreciate the success of our corporate culture and
leadership philosophy, but would also like to pass it along true to Reinhard
Mohn's intention.

Interested persons may apply until June 1, 2002. At the end of July 2002,
the Fellows will be named by a Jury at a selection convention. The Jury
consists of outstanding public personalities who represent the spirit and
attitude we are looking for in our Reinhard Mohn Fellows. We kindly request
that you use the network at your disposal to call attention to the Reinhard
Mohn Fellowship and the opportunities it has to offer.

Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars
Fellowships in the Social Sciences and Humanities

Eligibility: Professionals and Postdocs
Fellowship Deadline: 2002-10-01
Date Submitted: 2002-04-09

The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars announces the opening
of its 2003-2004 Fellowship competition. The Center awards academic year
residential fellowships to men and women from any country with outstanding
proposals in a broad range of the social sciences and humanities on national
and/or international issues - topics that intersect with questions of public
policy or provide the historical and/or cultural framework to illumine
policy issues of contemporary importance. Fellows should be prepared to
interact with policymakers in Washington and with Wilson Center staff who
are working on similar topics.

Applicants with outstanding capabilities and experience from a wide variety
of backgrounds (including government, the corporate world, and the
professions, as well as academia) are eligible for appointment. For academic
participants, eligibility is limited to the postdoctoral level.

The Center tries to ensure that the stipend provided under the fellowship,
together with the Fellow's other sources of funding (e.g., grants secured by
the applicant and sabbatical allowances), approximate a Fellow's regular
salary. Stipends provided in 2001 ranged from $29,500 to $73,000. In
2002-2003, the Center expects to be able to award a few fellowships t a
higher stipend level, up to a maximum of $85,000.

Fellows are provided private office, access to the Library of Congress,
Windows-based personal computers, and research assistants.

The Center holds one round of competitive selection per year. The deadline
for receipt of applications is October 1, 2002.

Information and application forms may be downloaded from the Wilson Center's
web site.

Message from AAUW

The second AAUW International Symposium, International Perspectives: Global
Voices for Gender Equity, will take place on November 15-17, 2002 at the
Wyndham Hotel in Washington, DC. The Symposium will provide an opportunity
for established scholars, researchers, policy makers and practitioners to
engage in a dynamic dialogue on how women have used their education to
create change in the fields of literacy, peace education and conflict
resolution, governance, and education for people with disabilities. Please
share the symposium website and call for papers with individuals abroad who
you feel would be interested and able to participate in this event. We will
be able to waive the symposium registration fee for presenters. The Call
