Subject: Inground pool cleaner????

Hi All.....

Was looking for opinions on inground pool cleaners. I have a 25
year old vinyl 16 X 32, getting pretty worn and I want to make
things easy on her (she has a wood frame).
After a little research online, it seems that you pretty much get
what you pay for (and pay for, and pay for). As I stated, my pool is
getting tired. The liner is practically bleached white, and Im not
sure how old the sand filter is. To save the elasticity of the liner
and the life of the filter, I have refined my search to the
following three cleaners (as they work seperate from the filter):

1) Aquavac Tiger Shark
2) Aquabot
3) Dolphin

All are listed in the ballpark around $800.

Any recommendations, advice you can give me would be greatly
appreciated!!!!!

Hi, I just loined here and I was wondering if someone could recomend
a better winter cover. I don't know the brand name of the one I
bought last Fall but I purchased it where I got my pool.Well we were
pumping the water off the top and never could get it all off. I told
hubby that I thought the pool water was coming up through the
cover. The cover is a plastic weave (at least thats what it looks
like to me). It was coming apart in places. I can't believe this
cover only lasted 1 winter.

Hi, I was wonder what everyone thinks of Solar Covers. I had one to
begin with but the way my deck and pool are set up it had to be pull
on and off either over the deck railing or under it and was just to
much work. My pool is 15x30 so it was a large cover. I started not
putting it on at night and I don't think it made that much
difference, I may have lost a degree more than my friend who has a
pool about this size and she always covers hers.
What does everyone else think of these covers. I know it helps keep
the poll cleaner but is it really worth it?

Hey people! I am pretty new to the group and I don't mean to be annoying, but
I wanted to let all of you know I finally got my webcam back. It took a while
to repair, but everything is running great now, and the picture is crystal
clear. The repair guy also told me that he added some new software to allow
me to talk live to those watching me! So if any of you guys want to chat
come try it out on my new homepage :)

Well even if you're not looking for love, and just a bit of fun thought I'd give
you all a tip. So you can stay away from all the bullcrap fake profiles places
this is what I've been using http://www.findyourpartner.info/owwu . No joke,
I've messaged about 5 women nearby to me and already 3 have responded, and I am
already organising to meet up with one. Not bad for a guy who hasn't had a date
in a while, lol!

Help,
I am having a water bug problem and was wondering if there is anything
out there to get rid of them. We use the Pristine blue chemicals with
some chlorine in the pool and I would like to get rid of the water
bugs. I have been cleaning the pool and using a net and catching them
that way but it is really time consuming. If you have any other
suggestions please let me know.

Thank you.

I hooked mycam up and within no time I was talking to a few great ladies over
it. Anyway, I recommend it to everyone here!

Am looking at a home (to buy)..that has an in-ground pool. Am trying
to get a handle on what I am looking at as far as time, energy and
costs involved with short and long-term maintenance of the pool. Any
help would be *very* much appreciated.

So far, this is what I came up with.

1) Daily/Weekly Maintenance - Not sure exactly what this involves. I
am guessing, cleaning, checking chemicals, etc. So..my question is,
approx. how much time can I expect to spend each day/week doing this
stuff.

2) Seasonal Maintenance - Opening/Closing....Not sure exactly what is
involved for this.

Extra Costs - Am figuring electric (for filters) would run a minimum
of $150 extra per month. Maybe even a little bit more. Am also
figuring home owners insurance is more. Pool has a diving board...so
insurance may even be *a lot* more.

Other questions I have are:

1) What types of problems can I face with an in-ground pool...both
short and long-term. Pool leaks..but what else? As far as leaks go,
how are these detected and how can they be fixed.

2) Pool Maintenance Company - If I was willing to hire someone to
maintain the pool....would it be a weekly thing...monthly..??? Would
it be best to hire someone to open and close the pool for me?

Is there such a thing as a "pool inspector"? Wondering if there is,
if I should have one check out the pool before I even consider making
an offer on the house.

I would appreciate *any* feedback you guys can give...as I do like the
house..but am real concerned about not knowing what I am getting into
with a pool.

One last thing...any resources you guys can point me to (besides this
group) that give good info on in-ground pools, maintaining and
servicing them....would be *greatly* appreciated.

Thanx!

Randy

guys reckon? Myself, I actually think it is pretty awesome from what I've seen,
and Im considering getting on there later on this evening. If you don't know
what it is, basically its like a matchingplace, but has few added things I
noticed. Stuff like messenger, vidchat, picsrate, etc. Best part is you can
talk to ppl on vidchat even if you don't have it enabled yourself.

I know some buddys who have met a few nice honey's off of this kind of thing
(here is the place they used: http://www.getactivenow.info/lxdb , but what do ya
think? I think it is mad cool from what I saw at my buddy’s house, and iam
thinking of signing up later today. Basically it's a regular personalssite, but
with an instant message and Webcams system built in. Basically you join their
chat-room on their site it gives you a link to those people online in the
chat-room, their location, their picture, etc and at one click you can start
chatting to them over Webcam (even if you don't have one). Pretty nifty stuff I
think!

Has anyone built a shasta pool?
another question :)?

I am having to decide on a different interior finish than
I had originally picked. Has anyone
had a pool with the Shasta version of the pebble type
finishes?

I am thinking strongly of going with Pebble Sheen.
If anybody has that I would love to hear your opinions on it!

thanks!

ps-I'd also love to know anything else ya'll think I should consider.
thanks! I just found this group or I would have asked sooner...
I am headed to decide later today, but will check email as close to

I have been a cashier for 15 years at a major supermarket. I must tell
you that most people use coupons. On average they save about 20 - 25%
off their total bills. The coupons are almost always the same ones
that are in the Sunday paper. I have helped a handful of people
who have coupons I never see. These same people always save between
70 - 80% off their bills. Two weeks ago I decided to ask one of these
customers where she gets these coupons and how does she have a coupon
for almost every item she buys. She told me that she is part of the
program at http://savemorethanever.com she went on to say that she has
been a member there for 10 years and the savings have been incredible.
That day that woman bought over $320.00 worth of groceries and only
paid around $16.00 I went home that day and signed up for their
sampler package which also includes restaurant coupons and a Kodak
film package. In 1 week I received my kit and now I too am
experiencing savings that are 3 to 4 times the normal coupon savings.
What a program!

Hello,
I am needing help with my pool. I am trying to get it opened however,
it is still murky. First it was very green and we added water to
raise the level, then we added shock to it. I have now added 3
gallon bottles of liquid shock, 2 large bottles of powdered shock,
Pristine Check, Pristine Blue and it is still hazy. You can see about
2 feet down then it gets hazy. I was wanting to see if anyone has any
suggestions. Oh yeah, I have also been running my pool cleaner,
Ranger. It did clean up the bottom of the pool quite a bit but now is
running clear. I have been continuously running my filter system and
backwashing it when needed. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Dana
