Hi All!

Thanks:

  • Mona -for joining Divya to the group and for your exclusive cell phone no.
  • Divya, Shalini, Ginni and Jasmeet- for your views on the Brainstorming.
  • Suman -for your thought for the Day. Hope to see this becoming a regular feature.
  • Uma and Jasmeet -for your refreshing mails.

Hope:

  • Manila and Ginni are collating (cut and paste) everybody's views and hope to see the result on the net soon, say by the weekend.
  • Those who are maintaining 'vows of silence' shall give them up and contribute their opinions on the Brainstorming -1 going on. I am seriously worried if all is well with our 'silent' friends. Please respond.
  • Manila sends a mail fast on the proposed tour.
  • All are booked for travelling to Delhi and are returning after the Taj& Jaipur tour.

Must read-

  •  The new issues of BusinessWorld and India Today speaks of Women at work. Uma, it would be great if you could please list the names mentioned and perhaps we might have someone amongst us having access to these Ladies.

Travelling-

  • from tomorrow for the Board Meet to Hyderabad/Guntur and back on Sunday evening. Looking forward to meeting Ritu, Sangeeta, Uma, Mona, Jasmeet, Seetha, Rachna besides the others.

Warmest,

Alka

BRAIN TEASERS

Below are four (4) questions and a bonus question. You have to answer them

instantly. You can't  your time, answer all of them immediately. OK?;

Let's find out just how clever you really are.

Ready? GO!!! ( scroll down)

First Question:

You are participating in a race. You overtake the second person. What

position are you in?

Answer: If you answered that you are first, then you are absolutely wrong!

If you overtake the second person and you take his place, you are second!

Try not to screw up in the next question. To answer the second question,

don't take as much time as you took for the first question.

Second Question:

If you overtake the last person, then you are...?

Answer: If you answered that you are second to last, then you are wrong

again. Tell me, how you can overtake the LAST Person?;

You're not very good at this! Are you?

Third Question:

Very tricky math! Note: This must be done in your head only. Do NOT use

paper and pencil or a calculator. Try it.

Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000. Now add 30. Add another

1000. Now add 20. Now add another 1000 Now add 10. What is the total?

Scroll down for answer.

Did you get 5000?

The correct answer is actually 4100.

Don't believe it? Check with your calculator!  Today is definitely not your

day. Maybe you will get the last question right?

Fourth Question:

Mary's father has five daughters: 1. Nana, 2. Nene, 3. Nini, 4. Nono. What

is the name of the fifth daughter?

Answer: Nunu?

NO! Of course not.

Her name is Mary. Read the question again

Okay, now the bonus round:

There is a mute person who wants to buy a toothbrush. By imitating the

action of brushing one's teeth he successfully expresses himself to the

shopkeeper and the purchase is done.

Now if there is a blind man who wishes to buy a pair of sunglasses, how

should he express himself?

He just has to open his mouth and ask, so simple.

KEEP THIS GOING.........!!

GOOD THOUGHTS
The marvelous richness of human experience would lose something of rewarding
joy if there were limitations to overcome. The hilltop hour would not be
half so wonderful if there were no dark valleys to traverse -- HELEN KELLER

You're at the top.... when you clearly understand that failure is an event,
not a person. That yesterday ended last night and today is your brand new
day.
You're at the top.... when you've made friends with your past, are focused
on the present, and optimistic about the future.

You're at the top.... when you know that a success (a win) doesn't make you;
a failure (a loss) doesn't break you.

You're at the top.... when you're filled with faith, hope, and love, and
live without anger, greed, guilt, envy or thoughts of revenge.

You're at the top.... when you're mature enough to delay gratification and
shift your focus from your rights to your responsibilities.

You're at the top.... when you can look back in forgiveness, forward in
hope, down in compassion, and up with gratitude.

You're at the top.... when you are secure about whom you are so that you're
at peace with God and in fellowship with man.

HAPPINESS IS YOUR OWN NATURE; HENCE IT IS NOT WRONG TO DESIRE IT.

WHAT IS WRONG IS TO SEEK IT ELSEWHERE INSTEAD OF INSIDE YOU, WHERE IT
ALREADY EXISTS.

Dear Alka, I'm a little hesitant in penning down my views but I'll give it a shot.

Alka Poddar <lcialka@...> wrote:
  • As a Circler, What one target/goal/aspect/event/etc do you want Ladies Circle India to achieve in the coming year in the fields of Fellowship and Projects ?
  • My View-   More information about National projects to be given to all circlers to ensure more participation. Memorable theme events can be organized for circlers and twinklers at National AGMs.
ircler, What one target/goal/aspect/event/etc do you want your Area to achieve in the field of Fellowship and Projects in the coming year?
  • My View-   Regular meetings of city circle project convenors & chairpersons to ensure at least one  joint project between them & to encourage them for more fruitful endeavors. Tables in Hyd are quite active in inter table events so it would be nice to have more on the circle front too.
  • As a Circler, What one target/goal/aspect/event/etc do you want  your Circle to achieve in the field of Fellowship and Projects in the coming year?
  • My View-It would be nice to have small but meaningful projects rather than taking up something big & not be able to do justice to it. And they should be taken up keeping in view the National Project to some extent. Our fellowship is quite active with lots happening every few days.
  • As a Circler,What one target/goal/aspect/event/etc   do you think a  Floor-Circler would like to see happening/benefiting by in the field of Fellowship and Projects in the coming year
  • My View-New circlers should definitely be encouraged to come forward to take up more responsibilities at the convenor & at the project level to have an active & a rocking circle.
  •          I would love to have your comments on my thoughts.       Ritu.
    Dear Friends,

Would love to hear the views of all those who have not yet expressed themselves. Considerable time has now passed by and we have to progress further. I know this is new and unusual and is therefore going to take time, but nevertheless, once we are into the groove, it becomes most rewarding.

Manila and Ginni, though you may not want to comment on your own portfolios, you may consider doing so,as it seeks your view on one aspect in each case only and not your entire plans! Who knows, you might find a lot of teammembers agreeing to your thoughts.

Manila and Ginni, I would also appreciate if you could assimilate every body's views and circulate it for further brainstorming. This will also help all of us to focus.

To encourage participation as there are very many of us who have yet to respond, I intend to give prizes for these Brainstorming sessions. I would request Jasmeet, who is the most proactive amongst us, to help me out on this and shall discuss at Guntur.

Once again Girls, please revert with your views as we shall be starting a new topic from tonight and then you shall have this response pending.

    Warmest,
    Alka

  • Hi Alka,  Following are my Views:
  • As a Circler, What one target/goal/aspect/event/etc do you want Ladies Circle India to achieve in the coming year in the fields of Fellowship and Projects ?
  • Your View: Fellowship: Take off to destinations in India itself - Intra Circle do's involving Twinklers. Projects: Give a direction to E to E. Decide on measurable parameters to assess the progress of E to E across the country. Set common achievable goals for all India.
  •  As a Circler, What one target/goal/aspect/event/etc do you want  your Area to achieve in the field of Fellowship and Projects in the coming year?
  • Your View: Projects: Individual project conveners of the area to meet regularly to assess and share ideas on projects which could lead to joint tie ups with sponsors also. Fellowship: No views.
  • As a Circler, What one target/goal/aspect/event/etc do you want  your Circle to achieve in the field of Fellowship and Projects in the coming year?
  • Your view: Fellowship: More inter organisations dos to promote friendship among women in the city. Projects: Take forward the initiatives with the adopted school and ensure that the school achieves further self - sufficiency.
  •  As a Circler,What one target/goal/aspect/event/etc   do you think a  Floor-Circler would like to see happening/benefiting by in the field of Fellowship and Projects in the coming year.
  • Views: Very clearly giving the responsibility to the floor circler at the circle level to conduct  a fellowship/project will do the trick.

Dear Alka, I'm a little hesitant in penning down my views but I'll give it a shot.

    Dear Suman,
It does not matter how many are there as long as you know there is someone there.
I for one surely love these words of wisdom that you keep sending. I suggest that you start sending on the RTIT group also, where till the late Ganti was active, you were sure to find a quotation from him every day.
As for teamalka- rest assured- all are appreciative of your mails, it is just that this is typical internet group behaviour and takes time and effort for all members to contribute equally for this is still a new means of communication. Who knows you might find a member responding to your quotation unexpectedly!
Please do'nt stop and ofcourse none of us shall grudge you your breaks!
    Cheers,

    Dear All

Hi, I am enclosing details of all board members below. please check and get back to me by  the 10th April latest, if there are any changes to be made.

I have tried my best to collect information especially phone numbers from our existing directory. I wish to print a small handy card with these numbers and send it to all board members at the earliest. So girls please check for any changes or mistakes and let me know.
    ASAP.

I am also enclosing the list of individual E-mail addresses of all board members. It is a suggestion that, if there are any matters concerning only an  individual board member, please send matter to the concerned member only and not on teamalka. (for the simple reason not to have crowded inbox)
