Description

Is - or was - your surname TEARLE? Or do you have a TEARLE connection somewhere in your family? Have you been compiling a family tree and come to a dead end? Do you wish to contact or be contacted by other people sharing this surname? Have you any TEARLE stories or information to share?
The surname TEARLE is practically unique and it seems that all TEARLEs emanate from the village of Stanbridge in Bedfordshire. Until only about 200 years ago, few TEARLES had left this tiny area, but now we are to be found all over the world. We know there was at least one TEARLE alive in the early to mid 15th c. and that two families in the 18th c. virtually ensured the continuance of the name - do you know which branch you came from? If so, please join this group and help to compile a full family tree.

Please announce your membership with a brief note about yourself, your roots as you know them and anything that YOU want to find out about this family so that others may be able to help you. Please post any stories or other files that you may have in the Files section.

The book by John L Tearle entitled "Tearle: A Bedfordshire Surname" has been invaluable to us all, and the ** 2nd edition is NOW AVAILABLE **.
For details on ordering please visit www.cafepress.com/norfolkbroads.35279551

I would also like to thank John for permission to use the original cover here.

Finally, if you know of any TEARLEs who you think would be interested in this group, please let them know about us.
