Thanks, I've been looking into this. I have mostly been having problems with my
right thumb (I'm right-handed). I'm not sure what crocheting palm up means. I
assume I am crocheting palm down Guess I'll have to pay more attention and
experiment.

I have to finish up my current project so I can get a couple of things made for
my first care package to my son. Based on our last deployment, I'm guessing I
have about three weeks before I get an address. Of course, the address got
changed 3 or 4 times in the first 3 months last go 'round!

***The best source of info is to do a search for chain sinnet on You Tube and
watch part one of the two part video. It really helps to see one made.

Practice with a long shoe lace and if you think you've mastered it, then buy a
roll of paracord. The cord is about $40 for enough to make about 140-150.
Armed Forces Outfitters is one good place to buy. Tell them you're with The
Hugs Project or use discount code #1252719 and you MIGHT get a discount. I
think that may depend on how many rolls you order.

Dear American Soldier in Iraq:
There are a few things you should know about how tens of millions of us back
home feel about you and the fight you are waging. These things need to be said,
especially now, given the fact that the head of one of America's two major
political parties has announced that the war in Iraq is lost.

This war has not been lost. What has happened is that many Americans, for all
sorts of reasons -- some out of simple fatigue, some because they do not believe
that war solves anything, some out of deep loathing for the present
administration -- do not believe that what you are doing is worth doing.

You know that what you are doing is worth continuing. You see on an almost daily
basis the faces of people who count on you to help them make a freer society
than they have ever known. You know that your presence in Iraq is all that
stands between numberless men, women and children and a horrible death. But, for
whatever reasons, the fate of these people and their country do not matter to
those who feel you are wasting your time and our nation's resources in Iraq.

You know that the fight you wage is worth waging. You know that you are not, by
and large, fighting Iraqis who do not want you there but fighting people from
other countries who come into Iraq in order to blow up and maim as many innocent
Iraqis as possible.

You know that you are fighting the most vicious and primitive ideology in the
world today. It is the belief that one's God wants his followers to maim,
torture and murder in order to spread a system of laws that sends societies back
to a moral and intellectual state that is pre-civilization. You know that the
war you wage against these people and their totalitarian ideology is also
necessary because a society unwilling to fight for its values does not have
values worth sustaining. And for that reason, you in Iraq and many of us back
home are worried about America.

You know that there is real good and real evil in the world. You have seen both
more than any of us at home will probably see in a lifetime. Why so many in
America and the West generally no longer believe that there is good and evil,
let alone in the importance of having good vanquish evil, is a subject for a
book. But that is the problem here. So when, God willing, you return healthy and
victorious, you will have another battle to wage -- on behalf of moral clarity.
In that regard we are losing our way. Millions of our fellow Americans -- often
the best educated -- do not understand that those who send young people to blow
up weddings, kindergartens, market places and college libraries in the promise
of a paradise filled with young women are the Nazis of our time.

You know all these things. And tens of millions of us back home also know these
things.

We see you as the best and brightest of our society. Even The New York Times,
one of the mainstream media publications that do not understand the epic battle
you are waging, acknowledged in an article by one of its embedded correspondents
that few Americans of your age can come close to you in maturity, wisdom or
leadership abilities.

It is unfortunate that the battle for moral clarity and moral courage in America
is as divisive as the battle for freedom is in Iraq. But that is the nature of
the world we live in. And it has ever been so. "Woe unto those who call evil
good and good evil," wrote the Prophet Isaiah about 2,500 years ago. Not much
has changed in two and a half millennia.

So Isaiah would be proud of you. Indeed, as a religious person, I believe with
all my heart and soul that your work to uproot the greatest evil of our time and
enable a people to build the first free Arab Muslim country is as holy, if not
holier, as almost anything a minister, priest or rabbi does back home.

You probably knew all this. But you need to hear it anyway. That, and thank you.
Thank you very much.

Gordon James Klingenschmitt is a former Navy chaplain who was forced out of the
service in 2007 for praying in Jesus' name. He says the Obama Pentagon wants to
purge evangelical, Bible-preaching chaplains from the service by giving them an
ultimatum -- "reconcile" with homosexual sin, or quit.

Pentagon leaders preparing to impose open homosexuality on the military are
serving notice that discrimination against the deviant lifestyle will not be
tolerated. In a recently released memorandum, Defense Secretary Robert Gates
directed his policy staff to move ahead carefully, but expeditiously, to end the
ban on military service for open homosexuals.

Officials said they will complete implementation plans for the new policy by
Friday, February 4, and will commence indoctrination training this month.

Klingenschmitt, the former Navy chaplain, now heads up "The Pray In Jesus Name
Project." He believes a purge is coming.

"Chaplains are now being faced with a choice: either quit the service, or
reconcile with homosexual sin," he states. "Promotions and assignments are going
to be controlled by whether or not chaplains reconcile with homosexual sin. It's
really leading to a purge, I'm afraid."

He contends that "many" conservative chaplains are going to be persecuted by the
Obama administration -- an administration he says is "forcing these bad policies
to punish chaplains who quote the Bible outside of the Sunday chapel."

Klingenschmitt says while some liberal chaplains may go along with the new
policy, he believes evangelical, Bible-believing chaplains are not going to
reconcile with something God has called sin -- and consequently are going to be
forced to resign from the military as soon as the implementation plans are put
in place.

I sure hope not. Really sad if true. We are a country founded on religious
freedom. We protect agaainst religious discrimination.

I don't know how the Navy fills their Chaplaincy positions, but it at least used
to be in the AF that Chaplain denominations were proportionate to the recorded
religious preferences of its members. So, if 50% of the AF listed religion A as
their religious preference, then the idea was that 50% of the chaplains would
also be religion A to reflect the makeup of the service and support the
membership of the AF. So, if religion A had chaplains leave the service for
whatever reason, the AF Chief of Chaplains would go to the leadership body of
that denomination to see about having them fill the positions. So, while a
chaplain may quit, the AF would expect that chaplain to be replaced by someone
with the same religious tenants.

That doesn't mean policy and procedure cannot be changed...

Now, in and of itself, that would not speak to leadership practicing religious
discrimination in determining promotions (or lack thereof)or any other number of
subtle things intended to persecute a denomination. As stated, many religions
do not consider homosexuality to be OK. They consider it a sin that by the
Grace of God and individual effort and desire can be overcome.

I have a conservative religious background. My denominations's stand on
homosexuality is that it is not acceptable, so it isn't just evangelicals...

There has NEVER been anyone in the White House at any time who has created such
an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady's
social life. One wonders why she needs so much help,at taxpayer expense, when
even Hillary, only had three; Jackie Kennedy one; Laura Bush one; and prior to
Mamie Eisenhower social help came from the President's own pocket.

Note: This does not include makeup artist Ingrid Grimes-Miles, 49, and "First

I like to check the facts on things like this before sending it on to others.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/firstlady.asp

***Thanks for that info. I'm just so tired of the extravagent trips and
excessive money spent on one night at the opera. I normally do fact check but
let that slip by me because I thought it sounded just like facts in her lavish
(at taxpayer expense) world. ~K~

I haven't had time to do any fact checking on this email so please let us know
which (if any) of these are false -

SOME OF YOU WILL APPRECIATE THIS AND SOME OF YOU WILL NOT.. Let's just get to
the bottom of this email....true or false?

If George W. Bush had doubled the national debt, which had taken more than two
centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W.. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years,
would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had criticized a state law that he admitted he never even
read, would you think that he is just an ignorant hot head?

If George W. Bush joined the country of Mexico and sued a state in the United
States to force that state to continue to allow illegal immigration, would you
question his patriotism and wonder who's side he was on?

If George Bush had pronounced Navy Corpsman as Navy Corpseman would you think
him an idiot?

If George W. Bush had put 87,000 workers out of work by arbitrarily placing a
moratorium on offshore oil drilling on companies that have one of the best
safety records of any industry because one company had an accident would you
have agreed?
If George W. Bush had used a forged document as the basis of the moratorium that
would render 87000 American workers unemployed would you support him?
If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a TelePrompTer installed
to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said
this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by
smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush
to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90%
and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would
you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly
formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically
significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of
his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have
approved?

If George W.. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the nonexistent
"Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who
cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had stated that there were 57 states in the United States ,
would you have said that he is clueless.

If George W. Bush would have flown all the way to Denmark to make a five minute
speech about how the Olympics would ben efit him walking out his front door in
Texas , would you have thought he was a self important, conceited, egotistical
jerk.
If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de
Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de
Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in
embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had misspelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him
for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoes as proof of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree
on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over
millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing
widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what
happened on 9-11?

If George W.. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the
Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you
want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and
incompetence?

If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to
him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America ,
would you have approved.

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even
though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and
impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 24
months -- so you'll have one year and ten months to come up with an answer.

The person who sent this to me said, "Every statement in this email is factual
and directly attributable to Barrack Hussein Obama. Every bumble is a matter of
record and completely verifiable".

Cafe Mocha

You will need a:
box of good powdered milk,
a jar (8 oz) of instant coffee (decaf or regular)
Nestles Quik chocolate milk powder.

I take the jar of coffee and pour it into a mixing bowl. Then I use it as the
measuring cup, because this is a proportional recipe and the jar is the guide.
Then I add two jars of the chocolate milk powder (16 oz) and three jars of
powdered milk (24 oz). Stir with a spoon. If you use a less expensive/coarser
powdered milk, you can put all of it into a food processor or blender and mix it
better. I have even used the Hazelnut instant coffee and it is great too.

If you want the recipe in cups instead of proportions here it is.

1 cup of instant coffee, 2 cups of Nestles Quik and 3 cups of powdered milk.

To Use: Scoop out 1/4 of a cup for each mug (mix with 1 cup of hot water) you
make.

I keep the Mocha Mix in a glass canister with the 1/4 cup scoop in it. I did
purchase some really fancy chocolate milk mix once and it didn't taste as well
Nestles. LOL

This is a great no cook recipe for a gift! Put in a glass jar with a pretty mug
lined with plastic wrap, add directions, a measuring spoon and a bow and you
have a nice little gift

Awesome.  I hope this sweeps our country and gets sung in all our schools.  The

I haven't verified this info independently.  I'm sorry, I just don't have the time to check each fact and simply would not know where to do that anyway.  I believe it to to be true because of the rising cost of gas, food, fabric, etc.  I do believe it to be from a reliable source.  It was published by News of the Force and is very interesting.

I'm not sure why Gayron's words didn't come through. Here's what he said...

The information is consistent with the information I found on the National
website. There is one item that is understandable. All Wheat products have risen
due to the past years droughts and floods globally. That however is the only one
that is understandable. The rest are all due to over spending in the USA by the
government. The unemployment problem is growing due to the trade agreements that
allow our jobs to go overseas with no cost to the company. Just pure profits and
no income to the people of America (except the corp execs).

Letter To Obama at Whitehouse Sent from 95 year Old Pearl Harbor Survivor !!
Fantastic!!

This venerable and much honored WW II vet is well known in Hawaii for his
seventy-plus years of service to patriotic organizations and causes all over the
country. A humble man without a political bone in his body, he has never spoken
out before about a government official, until now. He dictated this letter to a
friend, signed it and mailed it to the president.

Dear President Obama,

My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People
meeting me for the first time don't believe my age because I remain wrinkle free
and pretty much mentally alert.

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after
WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos'n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home"
located on the western end of Pearl Harbor , allowing me to keep alive the
memories of 23 years of service to my country.

One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt
and direct even to the head man.

So here goes.

I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you
seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.

I can't figure out what country you are the president of. You fly around the
world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like: " We're no longer a
Christian nation" " America is arrogant" - (Your wife even announced to the
world," America is mean- spirited. " Please tell her to try preaching that
nonsense to 23 generations of our war dead buried all over the globe who died
for no other reason than to free a whole lot of strangers from tyranny and
hopelessness.) I'd say shame on the both of you, but I don't think you like
America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the
obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness
is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.

After 9/11 you said," America hasn't lived up to her ideals."

Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000
farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe
the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died
for in the Civil War? I hope you didn't mean the ideal 470,000 fathers,
brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII,
because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around,
because we stand for freedom.

I don't think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than
discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood
when they helped to get you elected.

Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.

Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don't, I'll do what I can to
see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue . You were
elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and
corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to
conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers
and wounded dozens more. You mean you don't want us to do what you did when that
white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts ,
who was putting up a fight? You don't mind offending the police calling them
stupid but you don't want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they
are, terrorists.

One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to
defend your country with your life, but you're the Commander-in-Chief now, son.
Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for
40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you're not
in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not
worth the best political strategy you're thinking of.

You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever
presented to any president. You're not going to restore American greatness by
bringing back our bloated economy. That's not our greatest threat. Losing the
heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now. And I sure as
hell don't want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle...

Sincerely, Harold B. Estes Snopes confirms as true:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/haroldestes.asp

When a 95 year old hero of the "the Greatest Generation" stands up and speaks
out like this, I think we owe it to him to send his words to as many Americans
as we can. Please pass it on.

Jane Russell

Jane Russell

Jane Russell an American film actress

Jane Russell (June 21, 1921 – February 28, 2011) was an American film actress and was one of Hollywood's leading sex symbols in the 1940s and 1950s.
Jane Russell moved from the Midwest to California, where she had her first film role in 1943 with The Outlaw. In 1947, Russell delved into music before returning to films. After starring in multiple films in the 1950s, Jane Russell again returned to music while completing several other films in the 1960s. Jane Russell starred in over 20 films throughout her career.
Jane Russell married three times and adopted three children and, in 1955, founded the World Adoption International Fund. For her achievements in film, she received several accolades including having her hand and foot prints immortalized in the forecourt of Grauman's Chinese Theater and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She died at her home in Santa Maria, California of a respiratory-related illness on February 28, 2011.
Jane Russell

Jane Russell Early life

Born Ernestine Jane Geraldine Russell in Bemidji, Minnesota, Russell was the eldest child and only daughter of the five children of Roy William Russell (January 5, 1890 – July 18, 1937) and Geraldine Jacobi (January 2, 1891 – December 26, 1986).[citation needed]
Russell's parents were both born in North Dakota and married in 1917.[citation needed] Three of her grandparents were born in Canada, while her paternal grandmother was born in Germany.[citation needed] Her father was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and her mother was a former actress with a road troupe. Her parents spent the early years of their marriage in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.[citation needed] For her birth her mother temporarily moved back to the U.S. to ensure she was born a U.S. citizen.[original research?] Later the family moved to the San Fernando Valley of Southern California. They lived in Burbank in 1930 and her father worked as an office manager at a soap manufacturing plant.[citation needed]
Jane Russell's mother arranged for her to take piano lessons. In addition to music, she was interested in drama and participated in stage productions at Van Nuys High School. Her early ambition was to be a designer of some kind, until the death of her father at forty-six, when she decided to work as a receptionist after graduation. She also modeled for photographers and, at the urging of her mother, studied drama and acting with Max Reinhardt's Theatrical Workshop and with famed Russian actress Maria Ouspenskaya.[citation needed]
Career
Jane Russell
The Outlaw
In 1940, Russell was signed to a seven-year contract by film mogul Howard Hughes and made her motion picture debut in The Outlaw (1943), a story about Billy the Kid that went to great lengths to showcase her voluptuous figure. Although the movie was completed in 1941, it was released for a limited showing two years later. There were problems with the censorship of the production code over the way her ample cleavage was displayed. When the movie was finally passed, it had a general release in 1946. During that time, she was kept busy doing publicity and became known nationally. Contrary to countless incorrect reports in the media since the release of The Outlaw, Russell did not wear the specially designed underwire bra (the first of its kind) that Howard Hughes constructed for the film. According to Jane's 1988 autobiography, she was given the bra, decided it had a mediocre fit, and wore her own bra on the film set with the straps pulled down.[citation needed]
With measurements of 38D-24-36 and standing 5'7″ (97-61-91 cm and 1.7 meters), Russell was more statuesque than most of her contemporaries. Aside from thousands of quips from radio comedians, including Bob Hope, who once introduced her as "the two and only Jane Russell" and "Culture is the ability to describe Jane Russell without moving your hands", the photo of her on a haystack was a popular pin-up with servicemen during World War II. Jane Russell was not in another movie until 1946, when she played Joan Kenwood in Young Widow for RKO.
[edit] Early musical ventures
In 1947, Russell attempted to launch a musical career. She sang with the Kay Kyser Orchestra on radio and recorded two singles with his band, "As Long As I Live" and "Boin-n-n-ng!" She also cut a 78 rpm album that year for Columbia Records, Let's Put Out the Lights, which included eight torch ballads and cover art that included a diaphanous gown that for once put the focus more on her legs than on her breasts. In a 2009 interview for the liner notes to another CD, Fine and Dandy, Russell denounced the Columbia album as "horrible and boring to listen to." It was reissued on CD in 2002, in a package that also included the Kyser singles and two songs she recorded for Columbia in 1949 that had gone unreleased at the time. In 1950, she recorded a single, "Kisses and Tears," with Frank Sinatra and The Modernaires for Columbia.
Motion-picture stardom
Jane Russell performed in an assortment of movie roles. Jane Russell played Calamity Jane opposite Bob Hope in The Paleface (1948) on loan out to Paramount, and Mike "the Torch" Delroy opposite Hope in another western comedy, Son of Paleface (1952), again at Paramount. Jane Russell played Dorothy Shaw in the hit film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) opposite Marilyn Monroe for 20th Century Fox.
[edit] 1950s
Jane Russell
Jane Russell appeared in two movies opposite Robert Mitchum, His Kind of Woman (1951) and Macao (1952). Other co-stars include Frank Sinatra and Groucho Marx in the comedy Double Dynamite (1951); Victor Mature, Vincent Price and Hoagy Carmichael in The Las Vegas Story (1952); Jeff Chandler in Foxfire (1955); and Clark Gable and Robert Ryan in The Tall Men (1955).
In Howard Hughes's RKO production The French Line (1954), the movie's penultimate moment showed Russell in a form-fitting one-piece bathing suit with strategic cut outs, performing a then-provocative musical number titled "Lookin' for Trouble." In her autobiography, Russell said that the revealing outfit was an alternative to Hughes' original suggestion of a bikini, a very racy choice for a movie costume in 1954. Russell said that she initially wore the bikini in front of her "horrified" movie crew while "feeling very naked."
In 1955, Russell and her first husband, former Los Angeles Rams quarterback Bob Waterfield, formed Russ-Field Productions. They produced Gentlemen Marry Brunettes (1955), The King and Four Queens (1956) starring Clark Gable and Eleanor Parker, Run for the Sun (1956) and The Fuzzy Pink Nightgown (1957).[citation needed] The last of these was a box-office failure.
She starred in Gentlemen Marry Brunettes alongside Jeanne Crain, and in The Revolt of Mamie Stover (1956). After making The Fuzzy Pink Nightgown (1957) she did not appear on the silver screen again for seven years.
