went to texas to visit my mother. As soon as I
got off of the Airplane she asked if I wanted to go
to church on sunday. Being the chicken that i am I
said okay, letting my mother continue to think that I
believe in god (which I never have) and then I had to
face half a day of being completely uncomfortable and
disgusted. When I got to the church I wast floored, there
are 8000 seats that become completly full at each of
the services, not including the k-6th graders and the
parents of babies ( they sit in another room and watch
the service on TV's). The actual service is on a
theater sized stage complete with two huge video screens.
Tell me does that not scare you? Why can't people
think for themselves instead of someone or a book
dictating their every move? They all seemed to be
followers.
ost believers in any religon are merley
followers. They follow their parents and their society
(texas=bible belt!). There are some believers though that arnt
just followers (i sometimes call them "victims") of
the two sources of influence. There very rare,
ecspecially among christians, but at least they hold their
beliefs b/c they've made a consciuos decision to. On a
side note, Bad Religon kix ass!! Check the band out.

that you found, POST IT! I cant stand dead boards, and
if that happens then I'll post stuff that you'll be
extremley compelled to respond to!! Okie anyways, Im hyper
and happy for no reason and I think I'll shut up now!
C-yall laters.<br><br>Founder--<br>Josh<br><br>P.S. I
know this is a day late but I was to busy yesterday to
post this message!
irst check your History book Texas is not part
of the "Bible Belt"..<br> Lady Jitter bug what part
of Texas was the Church located? (Honestly people i
dont like to many churches especially the Catholic
"church")<br> and to the person,im so sorry i cant remember who
you were, who is having a dilemma about telling her
boyfriend about her beliefs..here is my advice: Tell him
not just at the drop of the coin but if this is
bothering you you should work it into the conversation and
if he has a problem about it like throws a fit or
somthing then he is not right for you.<br> oh and someone
said somthing about if i were to suddenly change my
beliefs to the Muslim's Beliefs that people would look @
me funny(something along those lines) Well yes they
probably would only because i am so vocal about my
beliefs...and my school is not composed mostly of Christians...
make up of my school in order of aprroxamate
standings: Those who believe in a Supreme Being/associate
w/religion<br>Atheist<br>Muslims<br>sold out
Christians<br>Hindus<br>other<br><br> Also i
find it difficult to talk to Older people about my
Beliefs<br> i forgot where i was leading to someone IMed me
and i forgot i am so sorry...oh well
his is totally off the subject...But today is
the day Texas declared its independence...La
independencia de Tejas.....you will have to correct me on the
next translation...Die frieheiter auf Texas.....( that
was a horrible translation) dont make fun of my
deutsch <br>Ich kann nicht sehr gut Deutsch
sprechen.<br>Another fact Texas is the only State that can hoist its
flag above the U.S. flag..Does any one know why that
is?(other than other native Texans please)
nly sheep. religion is a choice, if u had been
raised atheist would you be an atheist now?? Most people
become atheist to piss their family off( although most
of the time there isn't concious knowledge of it)
And another thing Bad Religion isn't THAT good
they're OK
his doesn't have too much to do with anyone's
post but I thought I'd say it anyway. I remember one
day last year this one friend of mine,<br>which
happens to a Catholic, said this to me:<br>"Did God
create man, or did man create God?"<br>My answer to this
was of course, man created God.<br>She teaches sunday
school. She teaches it with a friend of mine that became
an atheist a couple months ago. This other friend is
being forced to keep teaching it and to keep going to
church by her mother. Her mother knows she doesn't
believe in God too. I feel so bad for her. But I think
she told me her mom didn't make her go to church this
past Sunday, so maybe she won't have to go
anymore.<br>But anyways, it's kind of ironic that people that
have had religion cramed down their throats their
whole lives even question there faith
sometimes.<br><br>Molly
wasnt saying that they were neccerally victims
of religon, but more of society in general. Alot of
people, ecpecially teenagers, fall victim to society and
do things b/c other people are doing it. I know some
people who are christian b/c there friends are. (Alot of
these people never really had any religous upbringing
of any kind)And I'll admit I over exagerated a
little on my Bad Religon comment, but I still think they
kick ass! =)<br><br>Josh
our proabbly right that historically Texas isnt
actually a Bible Belt state. But I usually include it in
there b/c it seems to me that Texas is just the same as
states like Alabama and South Carolina when it comes to
religon. Also I kinda doubt that the church that Lady
Jitterbug went to was Catholic, I could be wrong but it
sounds more like a southren Baptist church. <br>Also one
more thing I_Will_Never_Bow, are you just christian in
the broadest sense of the word or do you belong to a
sect of christianity?
ost of your arguments could be completely reversed unfortunatly i dont have the
time to take each one apart and show you how closed minded you actually sound...
o i am not a member of a church i cant recall
any where(and this may be my failing) in the Bible
where it says you have to go to this big building(or
even little one)and listen to an imperfect man TELL me
what i can find out myself all it takes is an open
mind a little time and the actual abilty to search for
the truth(you wouldnt have created this club and
welcomed christians, if you yourself were not
searching, otherwise this club is pretty much pointless) and I do keep
the Sabbath holy i just dont always go to
church(churchgoers act like atheist in disguise...always seeking
somtimes finding...always critisizeing(especially the old
folks..lol)) Did any one see the Grammies?
our free thinkers web site....if i didnt
misunderstand the quote says that God is essintially
impossble.....and that He defies our own interpretation of natural
laws...well..DUH...free thinkers my ass!
s if a lot of people just gloss over them with
out paying attention to the details. First of all I
get refered to every once in a while when people
remark about the person that couldn't tell my boyfriend,
it was about telling his parents which is a
completely different situation. Second of all I did not say
that my mothers 8000 seat church was catholic, in fact
I did not mention which religion it was (by the way
it is baptist.) It appears as if a lot of members do
this to other posts as well. If you are going to make
a remark about someone's comment, make sure you are
educated and read the whole thing. There seems to be more
putting down everyone's beliefs than a collection of open
minded people celebrating their open and intelligent
mind. -thank you<br><br>p.s to the people that are
close minded, it is very apparent
f Ive been ignoring your posts I didnt notice
that I was, however I did guess correctly that the
church you went to was baptist =)<br><br>About your bf's
parents..<br>Alot depends on how serious you and your bf are. Also
is he (your b/f) comfortable with the fact that you
are an atheist? If he is, and he truly loves you then
telling his parents shouldnt concern you that much. I
mean, who are you going out with, him or his parents?
Well thats about all the advice I have for now, and
I'll watch for your posts more closely!!

ey all. Glad to be here. I'd just like to say
for now that when my new site is up, you might want
to check out these two things on it:<br><br>"The
Door-to-Door Salesman" -- A poem about those darn
missionaries<br>"Our Public Schools Haven't Got A Prayer (And Why We
Should Keep It That Way)" -- my position paper on school
prayer that I just finished for English<br>two days ago.
Woo. That's all.<br><br>-- althorrat<br>

liked this club when it was small and now it is
big. which sux. but everyone i have something
interesting to post. Charles Manson once said that all
religion was the same and that all people were 1 person.
He said that he was god and the devil in 1 and the
same goes for all. He said that all religion was fake
and all reality(as we know it) was an illusion. think
about that for a few days and tell me what you think.
well that's all 4 now<br><br><br>heresy
thimk that all religions are false, but not
that they are the same. Christianiy and Islam are
certainly much more dangerous than more peaceful religions
like Buddism or Wicca. I also think all of us are "God
and the Devil" in that we can all create beaty and
harmony and demonstrate wrath and cruelty (most of the
cruelty coming from the "God" part). I think that reality
is a lie, but that this also means that we are not
all one person! <br><br>That's enough ranting for
now!<br><br>Kaloo Kallay,<br><br>--- Aeros
s large groups of people all folowing the same
religion or anything. Some might argue that large groups
of people follow the same religions because they are
"right," but it seems to me that they are not thinking for
themselves. My brain and individuality are the most prized
things to me. I could not begin to comprehend not
thinking for myself. I have never understood why people
need to be told the answers or why they need to be
part of something so badly. I think that if you look
within yourself all of the answers are there, except for
the ones that take common sense to
answer.<br><br>Anyway, it was just a thought<br>-jitterladybug
ut see we are all pert of the same illusion
there fore we are the same person manifesting itself
into different people with different personalities.
Same goes for religion, cos we are all 1 all religion
is 1. It's abstract reasoning i know but it is true
He (Charles Manson) even said it, it is what all of
the great thinkers believed.

At any rate, if it IS an illusion, it doesn't much
matter since we're part of the illusion.<br><br>2. Of
course we are the same. But that's only on a *very*
basic level. We all have the same basic concepts about
the world around us. That's the only thing that makes

you saying I'm part of Pat Robertson or George Bush
or some Christian Reconstructionist? And btw, all
religions are NOT alike. They worship different things,
practice different ideals.<br><br>4. It's bad enough when
believers capitalize "he" referring to a god, but please,

nd if there were such a thing as "GOD" Charlie
would be it, no wait scratch that, John Lennon would
be. but Charlie is actually quite sane and does not
like being kalled a madman. I know i do not make sense
to you because you do not understand Abstract
reasoning, i am tired now so i shall retire to my poetry,
which is inspired by this so called "madman".
thankyouverymuch. And if you would like to furthere this discussion
e-mail me at gbchamp@.... thank you for reading
this rant.<br><br>Ali
irst of all you sounded like a child when
refering to abstract reasoning, "you don't understand it
so I'm not going to explain it." Your explaination
of abstract reasoning was not the best I have seen.
However,I as do other members of the club (im sure),
understand where you are coming from. Speaking for myself I
do not happen to agree with it. Second of all if the
unibomber didn't want to be called a bomber would you
abstain from calling him that. Charles manson is
undeniably a madman. Someone that has murdered people is
just not right in the head. Why do you "follow (for
lack of a better word)" him? I would like to
understand but unfortunately it just seems illogical and
immature. I you are going to explain something it should be
well thought out, with examples and the like. Instead
of sounding as if you are repeating what someone
else has said.
