At least they seem to be being cautious instead of just plowing ahead.  Can you imagine the headlines if something happened on the Titanic memorial cruise too?

I just read an article on The Daily Mail that said the cruise ship had to return to Ireland because of 30 ft. waves. Will this voyage be unfinished, too?

As I'm sure of you all know, today is the 100th anniversary of sailing day.  I saw this article today about the 100th anniversary cruise being delayed by high winds.  Probably not the best of signs...

Harold Bride married Lucy Downie on April 10, 1920.  It wasn't a coincidence to pick sailing day.

Hello everyone! And to Bill Barnes, thank you sir,for your candid opening up of
your past life.I have just finished listening to the second book.First one they
don't have as audio anymore.Wow! Is all I can say.It led me here. I myself have
always felt I've lived before.Especially the last one in England during
Victorian/Edwardian period.I've loved the ocean and sailing too.Not sure If I
had anything to do with Titanic or not.But have felt very interested in it as
well.No fears of the water.I love it actually.I cruise twice,sometimes 3 times a
year. But wondering if anyone had lived/died during Titanic brought me to finding
Bill's books.I'm glad I did. It's truly amazing to hear him talk.Gave me chills.
I laughed at his humor, cried during the recollections. But felt releaved to know
I wasn't alone.I have yet to open myself up to another's ears. I want
to.Probably need to.So that being said, does Bill come on here to talk? I know
the anniversary is this week.I have been glued to shows showing it.That's it for
now.

It’s hard not to use voyage & passenger metaphors, especially this week. Hello,
I’m Josh Randall, one of the new members. Like everyone, it seems, I’ve always
felt a fascination with & connection to Titanic’s story. Inspired by the
upcoming anniversary, I was poking around some of the Web sites on the subject
when I came across mention of this maillist.

I first heard of Titanic around 1960, when I was seven or eight years old & saw
the 1953 Clifton Webb / Barbara Stanwyck film on TV. I suppose I identified with
the little boy. I read the books, saw the other movies. I wouldn’t say I was
even a Titanic hobbyist, but I've always had it in mind.

Hard not to. It’s such a perfect story, with clear points made in most dramatic
fashion against the spectacular backdrop of the biggest, most opulent boat in
the world, all alone late at night far out in the cold ocean, populated by the
elegant, the funky, & the dutiful, with even the sea stopped still to watch.

Personally, I’m no good at all in the water. I stink like a stone, despite
carrying a several-extra pound life preserver of supposedly-floatable flab… I’m
much more comfortable, if I must be out on anything, with small, running
streams. Water over my head has always just given me the chills. I find the
styles of the Edwardian era attractive & comfortable.

I’m on the fence about reincarnation. I’ve had a few unusual experiences
indicating the existence of something more than ordinary reality, but no
compelling personal evidence for or against the idea of multiple lifetimes for
specific souls. It feels right, but also sounds like just the sort of thing
humans would make up to comfort ourselves existentially. Oh well, we’ll find out
eventually; I suspect things will be both stranger & more familiar than we can
imagine.

Looking forward to the conversations. Best wishes —

Hi Debbie and all new members,

PBS seems to be showing a lot of shows on Titanic this week.  Does anyone know if there's a 'master list' somewhere so we know what's on when/what channel?

Bill is co-founder of the email group so, yes, he's on.  I'm sure he'll be happy to hear how much you enjoying the audio book.

Welcome, Josh.  You may have made peace with that life (or any really) so -- while you're still drawn to the era and/or event -- you feel a calmness toward it.  At least that's the sense I got from your writing style/word choice, etc.

In all the Titanic coverage recently on television & the Internet, two things stood out to me.

One was an account of a paranormal investigation group, I think from Georgia, who visited the Artifacts exhibition there. They reported a few contacts. Nothing very dramatic, although I found one detail incredibly poignant. Several in the group reported feeling intense warmth in their legs & lower torsos.

They didn’t make much of it, but if I understand the medical details correctly, intense warmth in the legs & lower torsos is what would be felt by a person dying of hypothermia while afloat in 32-degree water. The body responds to the temperature by sending blood from the extremities to its interior in an effort protect the internal organs. This is accomplished by contracting muscles in the extremities in order to constrict blood vessels. Apparently what happens is as this effort fails, the muscles relax again, causing a rush of blood back to the extremities, accompanied by a feeling of heat.

The second was considerably more lighthearted, although ironic. Someone presented a collection of Twitter tweets — a good half dozen or more — from people who, until this last week, were aware of Titanic from James Cameron’s movie but who were not aware that it was, in fact, a genuine historical event!

They somehow missed every bit of historical information & every bit of coverage of Robert Ballard’s wreck discovery, & apparently actually thought the entire Titanic story was an elaborate fictional construction, the Romeo & Juliet story of Rose & Jack.

This would be like finding out The Lord Of The Rings took place in Belgium in the 1400s.

I knew one person who went to an exibit and later told me how disappointed that they were because Rose's mirror wasn't among them.

For some humor for you I used to babysit a girl who said "Captain Smith built the Titanic with his own hands!"

I'll try to explain this. It's hard to explain.

One morning, I woke up from dreaming. From the dream, I've seen something tall
and white (I really don't know what the dream was about). When I woke up, I
notices my arms were raised up and I remember them feeling heavy and almost
feeling like my arms were paralyzed and I quickly lowered my arms, does that
happened to anyone? This had never had happened to me before. It was a little
scary.

First of all, thank you to whoever started this group. I found it by searching
for Titanic Reincarnation, and I found this site with this guy who was Thomas
Andrews in a past life. I have a few questions.

What time did she sink, EST? Past few weeks, I started experiencing horrible
panic attacks starting at about 8 something, and lasting a good two hours. And
the thing is, this was BEFORE I even made the connection. I stay away from
anything revolving around big ships, etc.

Did she blow her ship horn, immediately after striking the ice berg, or when she
was sinking? I know the ship horns they have today must sound nothing like the
ones they had back then.

That's it. Thanks.

Welcome, Donnie! I also want to welcome all the other newcomers here. This solemn anniversary has stirred alot of memories of that night and awakened an awareness in those of us who have such a strong and lasting attachment to Titanic.

Two years ago I underwent a past-life regression to confirm what I already suspected. I was a stewardess who survived the sinking.

Has anyones else noticed certain innacuracies in all the Titanic publicity and memorials? For myself, I was rather offended when I saw the uniforms the Branson exhibit had for the stewardesses of their Titanic. The collars were all wrong!

BBC I aired a movie last night called SOS - The Titanic Inquires.  Here's the write up:

Paul McGann stars in a dramatised account of the official inquiry into the Titanic disaster, looking at whether there were other crafts nearby that could have been involved in the rescue of passengers.

I can load it to Dropbox and send an invite if anyone is interested in DLing it.

I'll send the link soon, Nikki.  It's an interesting drama and focuses on the Californian incident.

We were delayed but we did not “turn back”… We managed to get to the sinking site on time, meeting the Amazara, and having a memorial service.  We successfully got to New York with plenty of time to spare. J

I am posting about my trip on my Face book page -- If anyone would like to follow my trip--you can come look me up. I am Charlotte Ballard from Arkansas—and you can tell it’s me because there are two cats reenacting the Titanic  Jack and Rose at the front of the boat scene.  I am posting a couple of times a day because it was a long trip and lots of things happened. My fingers gets tired before my brain does. No obligation, however. J
