March is here!  Thanks to everyone who participated in our workshop with Yvonne and Jason co-hosted with the Alaska Dance Group.  Thanks to all the volunteers including:  Lindwood for hosting Yvonne and Jason,   Jeanetter Moser for helping with a number of things including the set-up, breakdown and the registration desk. Thanks to Teresa for being our guest DJ Saturday night, and for Cheryl and Richard of Fred Astaire for their support.    Thanks to everyone who helped promote it through posts, flyer distribution and more.   The turn out was awsome.   :)

We have 2 great workshops coming up in the next year:    October 28-30th with Luis Crespo and Jennifer Pasetes - and in January 2012 - the last week-end:  Daniel McGee and Jameson Kilburn.    Stay tuned for more info.

 with Liv are now taking place on Tuesday nights at the Golden Lion -   This class will be from 6:00pm - 6:50pm. so before Dave and Cheri's  class.       We will probably practice for 4-6 weeks before going public with this flash mob.   :)

April has arrived!     Before getting into the info about dances and classes in April here is an update on the Hustle Flash Mob:

We will probably go live with the Hustle Flash mob the first week-end in May (possibly the last week-end in April)  to make sure we have plenty of time to practice with and without the music.  There are 2 regular practice sessions each week – both are free and teaches you hustle fundamentals in addtion to the hustle flash mob choreography.  The sesssion are as follows:

à        6:00-6:50 on Tuesday nights  at the Golden Lion with Liv and co.

à        6:00 – 6:50 on Thursday nights at the Flight Deck with Jim and Jenon.

We need as many hustle fans as possible to join us.   You can find a link to the choreography on our web page's home page – Erica Smith and her group demo the dance and then Erica breaks it down move by move.   So you can watch it and practice at home as well.     Cheryl at Fred Astaire will be joining the mob with some of her students as well.

by the way - the First Official Hustle Flash mob takes place Saturday, April 9th - yes this Saturday at the National Cherry Blossom Festival at Woodrow Wilson Plaza at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in DC.  This is the first hustle flash mob going live.     We are planning our first AK flash mob the first week-end in May.  It it not too late to learn it and join us.  Free lessons Tuesdays at  6pm at the Golden Lion with Liv and Thursdays at 6pm at the Flight Deck with Jim.  We will publish the link to the footage of the DC mob.

Here is some of the dance events happening this week-end!

Teresa and Gene are happy to host the 4th Friday dance this week, April 22nd at
the Senior Center.  Our lesson this month will be West Coast Swing, beginning at
7:00 PM, followed by the dance from 8:00-11:00 PM.  Gene and Teresa's teaching
style can be described as good cop, bad cop--it will be up to you to figure out
"who" is "who"!  Seriously, we work to make our lessons accessible, fun, and
informative.

Cost is $7.00 for the evening and DJ"T" will play all your social dancing
favorites with a special focus on West Coast Swing music, from classic to
competition to contemporary favorites as our theme for the evening.
