Again we toured the Yuengling Brewery. This was our 12th trip if I
am counting right. We toured the day after Thanksgiving.
Got a great tour and even went into the caves. The caves were opened
this year for the 175th Anniversary of the brewery.
We inspected the old keg filling equipment which is no longer used
since production was swiched to the new brewery and a state of the
art German keg filling robotic system was installed. Gone are the
days of the keg filled via the bung hole.
more to come, Ray
Check out the tour pics on the website. www.yuenglingfan.com
I still have more film to develop though.
Been drinking and collecting Youngling Beer items for about
35 years. Took the tour 5 times and get up to the brewery
2 or 3 times a year . Just found this site LOOKS PRETTY GOOD.
Looking forward to reading about Yuengling Beer
John

Well all we I finally recieved my Lager here in NM, I just got it
yesterday and had to wait until it was nice and cold and boy was it
good. Thank god for VINTAGECELLAR.COM it cost quite a bit though 46
and change to get a case of 12oz bottles sent here. But it was
definitly worth it.
Fellow Yuengling drinkers - I need your help!!! A group of friends and I are
currently vying for the title of "Beer Garden Girls" on Metromix.com in Chicago.
To help us win, please click on the Web site below and vote for our team - The
High-Carb Honeys. If we win, we'll get to visit different beer gardens in
Chicago this summer and then write funny reviews about our experiences that will
appear online as well as in the local newspaper. Voting closes Sunday night so
get your vote in while you can - and if you have a chance, please send this on
to any friends/family/coworkers who'd be willing to vote for us too!! Thanks,

I looked into this too. It is not illegal to ship HOWEVER, the
shipping companies choose not to do it. Apparently its because of
the three tier system set up after prohibition. Manufacturers >
Distributors > Public. The shipping companies don't like to get
involved in shipping beer because of they don't want to deal with the
effort required to make sure they are not breaking the distribution
laws. Some states have laws about shipping though. If you go to
sites like wine.com or the vintagecellar.com one I told you guys
about you'll see that they cannot ship to CERTAIN states. Also
states have laws about importing beer. Like in TX you're allowed to
import beer for personal use, but there is a limit. Something like
no more then 2 cases per week or month or something. Don't quote me
on that because I can't remember the limit, I just know there is one.
Because of all the BS the shipping companies don't want to deal with
it. However, they do ship for THE BEER OF THE MONTH CLUB. I guess
some accounts are just too good to pass by.
The companies that are shipping beer either have some kind of special
agreement with UPS or they are lying to them. I don't know and I
don't care! All I know is that I've been ordering a case of
Yuengling every few months and getting it via UPS. Unfortunately, it
costs $26 to ship a $17 case of beer, but it's well worth. I just
don't drink it as often as I'd like ;)

Went to the Syracuse / UCONN basketball game over the weekend. I try
to get to a game every year or so. I was pleasantly suprised to see
Yuengling available at the beer tent. I asked for "2 Lagers" and the
guy just stared at me. They I remembered that 'newbies' don't call it
that. I quickly asked for "2 Yuenglings" and received my reward.
Thanks for the info on the vintage cellar. I will be ordering 3
cases real soon. I drove to Pa from NM in December for xmas and I
brought 2 cases back with me. Well I let a few people try it and now
they want there own. I think there addicted to it and one is from
texas a dye hard Corona drinker. Well thanks again.
Michael
Andrew,
Yuengling is NOT and probably will NEVER go public with their stock.
Dick will pass it along to his 4 daughters and into the 6th generation of
the family.
Actually I don't think Dick will EVER retire, I bet he still has a good 30
years left in him.
He's very much involved in the day-to-day operation of the plants.
It's not uncommon to see him on the plant floor or cleaning up an area while
taking the tour through the old brewery.
That is of course if it's not his siesta time, he is a devout nap taker in
the afternoon.
Peace

Not like anyone reads this crap! But, I thought I'd post anyway. I
got my case of Yuengling. It was $18.95 plus $21.99 to ship. The
shipping rate is the actual UPS charge plus $1.00. It's a little
expensive, but it's well worth it to get an occasional case of
Yuengling in a state where it's not distributed. I figured I'd post
this in case anyone has doubts about the company I posted a link to.

I moved from PA to TX where there is no Yuengling! I found a company
online that appears to ship it - including kegs! They charge $82.50
for the keg plus shipping. I suspect shipping will be around $75-
$100. For anyone who is in my situation this is a bargain! I
emailed them to determine exactly how they ship, since I thought
Yuengling doesn't pasteurize kegs and they had to be kept cold. I'll
let you guys know what I find out and how it works out. My only
alternative is driving 15 hours to Alabama. I love Yuengling, almost
to the point where I have considered taking a vacation in Alabama
just to bring back some beer! But not enough where I have actually
gone through with it! Here's the link!

Thats cool that you guys posted this. I am from PA and moved to TX a
year ago for work. My co-workers and I are meeting in CA next month
for some mertings and I (and they) wanted to have them bring me some
Yuengling. We weren't sure if it was legal. I checked all of the
airline sites and it didn't say it wasn't allowed. Obviously, it's
probably best to check and not carry on. They might not like glass
bottles with all of the new rules.
I figured you could transport beer because when I went to England
there is a strict limit that you can't import more then 2 cases of
beer or 2 bottles of liquor from overseas. If you can bring two
cases in the country you should be able to move one or two within the
country. TX law says it's alright to import a certain amount of ber
and liquor from other states for personal use. I was just worried
about PA where they are very strict about liquor sales and
transportation in and out of the state - I figured beer would be just
as harsh.

I was up at the Pottsville brewery November 18th and they were
bottling the new 22 oz. bottles. The tour guide Vicky called them
lager 22's. They are in 15 bottle cases. The bottles have unique
labeling with a clear label have the printing on it. I'll post a
photo I shot of the bottles and cases being filled.

Hello.
My name is Chris and I am trying to track down an old buddy of mine.
His name is Dan Schlegel and he lives/lived in Kutztown, Pa.
We went through Air Force basic training in late 93 early 94

Well Andy I will going home to Pa on Dec 15 until Jan 9th. I will
bring you back at least a case, depending on the room in my car maybe
more. I just need to know cans or bottles. If I bring back cans i
can probably bring more. But it does taste better in bottles. let
me know what one you want.

I am in dire need of lager in Chicago. I moved from Philly 2 years
ago and my life hasn't been the same since. Chicagoans think
Rolling Rock is great... maybe there's no help for them.. but I'd
like to think their souls can be saved. From time to time friends
drive out and bring a case or two.. but I need to have a regular
stash. I'm currently looking into driving to the PA border (7
hours) from Chicago monthly for the simple reason of purchasing a
keg. Any suggestions? Does anyone know if Yuengling kegs are sold
in Ohio.. if so this could cut some time off my trip. Eric
