Below is some general information about the CBC:
-Anyone can participate (they don't have to be experienced birders).
-If someone lives in a circle, they can participate either as a field
observer or a feeder watcher.
-They dont have to go out all day if they don't want to.
-Theres a $5.00 fee to participate as a field observer, feeder
watchers don't have to pay. This fee helps cover the cost of running
and publishing the CBC.
-Field observers generally go out in groups or parties.
-New observers will be sent in the field with experienced observers.
-Each count is a 15-mile diameter circle, and is conducted within one
24-hour calendar day.
-All counts this year will be conducted between December 14th, 2001 and
January 5, 2002 inclusive dates.
-To participate, contact the compiler closest to you.
-At this time the CBC is unable to accommodate groups of children but
we're working on this.
There is a wonderful birding internet site <www.birdsource.org> which
provides additional information about the CBC and other birding
projects and programs such as the Great Backyard Bird Count and the
Project Feeding Watch.
