Retired U.S. Senator Alan Simpson, R-Wyoming, joined Senator Jon Tester in Billings March 19 to announce Testers nomination of Dr. Joe Medicine Crow to receive one of the highest honors bestowed by the United Statesthe Presidential Medal of Freedom. Medicine Crow, 94, is a lifelong resident of Lodge Grass, Montana, who served in the Army during World War II. Hes a genuine hero of this world, said Simpson of Medicine Crows tour of duty. >>Please click for more detailsWelcome to the first-ever Custer Country E-newsletter. This is the culmination of a project that has been in the works for several months. It will give us an opportunity to communicate the news, events and attractions in Custer Country and maybe provide a little entertainment along the way.
We want our e-newsletter to be something youll look forward to so we welcome your suggestions about content, focus and style. If you have a story idea, let us know and well try to fulfill your request.
Well publish at least four issues per year, with other special editions thrown in once in a while. The newsletters will contain pictures, stories, links to our website and other sites of interest in an effort to keep you informed about the way Custer Country works, what challenges we in the tourism face and how to deal with those challenges.
And, as I said earlier, I hope we will also brighten your day a little and maybe extract a giggle or two. I want to thank our President, Shaun Combs, our Marketing Chair, Gloria Wester and the board for their patience while this project was proposed, fleshed-out, approved and brought to fruition. I also want to thank Cynroc Business Development for their expertise and professionalism as weve worked toward this goal.
I hope you enjoy this first edition and that youll give us your comments and suggestions. Of course, if you dont want to remain on the list, you can request that we take your name off our mailing list. I hope you wont want to do that. Thanks for your support of Custer Country, whether youre a board member, a former visitor or someone who wants to come and enjoy our beautiful corner of Montana. The world is our oyster and Custer Country is one of its pearls.
