One of the occupants of the houses smelled smoke and ran to Seventh and Peffer and pulled the hook on Box 45 . The box registered at 2:45 p.m. Arriving companies found heavy smoke pushing from the second floors and attics of the two and a half story frame row at 1950-52-54-56. Firemen worked for a while before getting the blaze under control. The roofs and attic spaces of 1950-52 were badly damaged. The roofs and rear portions of 1954-56 were moderately damaged. Loss was estimated in excess of $2,000.

Large stone three story U shaped rambling vacant former Catholic orphanage. Arsonist set fires in the first and third floors. Heavy fire damage to one room (contents destroyed) and hallway in the rear of the main building. A rug and bed were set on fire on the third floor. Heavy heat damage incurred to the first floor. Very smoky fire. Lt. George Brougher’s (S8) SCBA malfunctioned and he was pulled unconscious from the building. He was revived on the scene and taken to Harrisburg Hospital . One volunteer firefighter sustained burns on his knees. No loss given. Companies out three and a half hours. D Platoon, third alarm. It was never determined if this fire was connected to the February 4, 1985 second alarm arson fire to the same building.
