Dear Members and Friends,
To all of you who have so graciously sent donations to cover the meals of the current Peace Corps Volunteers during our upcoming annual meeting in Freetown, thank you so much! We are almost at our goal to cover the costs of all the volunteers who will join us for the two "official" meals. I encourage you to help if you have not done so thus far. We are almost too close to the date to use snail mail, but you can use paypal on the web site - www.fosalone.org
. Please remember in the box for notes to indicate it is for the volunteers. If you can't find the box, just drop me and/or Mark Hager an email telling us what it is for. If you don't let us know, it will not be used for their meals. I suggest $20 per meal. We have 17 volunteers joining us for 2 meals at our expense. The rest of us will pay for our own meals.
Also, just to let you know the process, if you send a check to Washington for anything, it may sit in the mailbox for a week or two. Once collected and the mail has been gone through, it is sent to Colorado to Lisa Forbes, our membership chair. From there it goes to Arizona to Mark Hager, our treasurer. From there, Mark sends it back to Washington to our bank account. I know that sometimes it takes a while for this process to happen and I apologize for any delays. But please remember that everyone involved is a volunteer and most have full time jobs and families. We have looked into other processes, but this one - so far - seems to be the most economical and workable. If you have a better method, please - let us know.
For all of you who have already donated to the volunteer meal project, please let me know if you don't want to be recognized during our meeting. If I don't hear from you, I assume it is OK.
