I went by Air station Prairie tonight between 5:45 and 6:30. There was a
beautiful male NORTHERN PINTAIL, 6 or 7 NORTHERN SHOVELERs, a female
BUFFLEHEAD, and some MALLARDs in the west side pond. In the marsh to the
north, there was a WILSON'S SNIPE, 4 SORA, and CHIPPING SPARROWs with
another SORA calling. The east side pond boasted a muskrat. TREE SWALLOWs
I also went down to the far pond. There was a single NORTHERN SHOVELER and
a couple of GREATER YELLOWLEGS in there.
This morning I returned to Douglas Park where I inadvertently flushed an
AMERICAN BITTERN which flew to two nearby locations while I watched before
settling back into the reeds.
