I remembered the name Daego and called my mother about it. She remembers two women called Daego -- one was a young woman (mother's name Manerva) who was very pretty, light-skinned with pretty hair that moved to St. Louis to marry someone. Then there was another older lady named Rose that was called Daego who lived in Grenada, Mississippi.
That's all the information that I can offer. Good luck!

Subject: [MoorheadMississippiMemories] Bishop/Shields/Johnson family
Date: Friday, February 25, 2011, 8:16 AM
I am the newest member here. Just some background info: My great, great grandmother was known as Clara "daego" Bishop (surname unknown) and great, great grandfather unknown. My great grandmother was known as Louella Hana-Johnson and my grandmother is Clara Johnson-Shields. My grandfather, also of Moorhead, MS was Kenneth Shields (his family is unknown to me). I know my mother's family on both sides were of Native American (Cherokee I believe) tribe, Blk, and White... One side supposedly also have Chinese/Mexican/Irish in there somewhere [the daego term makes me think my grandmother's family].
I am wondering if anyone knows of the Shield/Johnson family ties... Also my auntie [RIP] Jeffie lee Sanders family was close to Clara Bishop's family.
Any help/thoughts are greatly appreciated :)
