Kucinich draws distinction in first Democratic presidential debate

On the issue of Iraq and the American presence in the Middle East,
there is only one presidential candidate who has consistently voted to
bring the troops home and end the war - which he calls illegal - Ohio
Representative Dennis Kucinich.
You might not know it, as the mainstream media avoids the
sharp-as-nails politician at every opportunity. However his impact at
last week's first Democratic debate was undeniable.
Along with former Vietnam-era Alaska Senator Mike Gravel, Kucinich
held the "mainstream" candidates of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton
accountable for their votes in favor of the Iraq war and their
continued funding of the war.
Kucinich shot back that since the war powers resolution (1973) was
signed in congress during Vietnam, every American military effort has
been ended by congress' decision to sever funding for the operations.
"The American people elected a democratic congress last year to end
this war and bring our soldiers home," said Kucinich, who feels his
party has let the voters down.
Though each of the eight candidates at the South Carolina forum (Fmr.
Sen. Edwards, Sen. Obama, Sen. Clinton, Sen. Biden, Rep. Kucinich,
Sen. Dodd, Fmr Sen. Gravel, Gov. Richardson) says they are opposed to
the Iraq war, or the way in which America entered into the conflict,
only Kucinich has introduced plans to bring the troops home.
However, Kucinich might be better known on Molokai and in Maui County,
as he was able to carry Maui with 50 percent of the vote in the 2004
