OLD ANTARCTIC EXPLORERS ASSOCIATION
GULF COAST GROUP CHAPTER
TO MEET AT
SHRIMP BASKET RESTAURANT IN WARRINGTON
he Gulf Coast Group Chapter of the Old Antarctic Explorers Association (OAEA) will meet at 12 Noon, Saturday 4 June 2011 at the Shrimp Basket Restaurant, In Warrington, located at 709 N. Navy Boulevard near the Highway 98 intersection. For more information, including directions on how to get there, check the Shrimp Basket web site at: http://www.shrimpbasket.com/warrington.htm.
All members, family, or interested parties who have been to Antarctica or who may have an interest in Antarctica are cordially invited. Members are strongly encouraged to attend and bring guests.
John Jaenisch will be our scheduled speaker. John will provide us with highlights of the Ice Pirates reunion that was recently held in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.
If you have some prized possession that we haven’t seen before please feel free to bring it along for show-and-tell.
The Gulf Coast Group alone has enough history to fill several volumes and we need to share this history or it will be lost forever, so don’t hesitate to bring your memorabilia to the meeting. Be sure to mark your calendar for 4 June 2011 and come out and show your support for this very unique group of men and women.
If you served in, or visited Antarctica, plan to attend the meeting and get signed up as a member. If you have not had the opportunity to get to the ice, there are associate memberships available also. There are also over a half-dozen OAEA-GCG Chapter members who have been to Antarctica on tourist expeditions and they can tell you how it’s done.
The speaker will start his presentation at 1 p.m. The Shrimp Basket will be open at 11 a.m. Food and beverages will be available before, during, and after the meeting. Come early and enjoy lunch with other members or stay late for a few drinks and camaraderie. The best ice stories are usually told before the official meeting starts. If you hang around long enough you can take advantage of the Shrimp Basket Saturday bar specials.
