I am working with a growing, well managed public semiconductor company that has a great opportunity for an experienced Quality Engineer and the position can be located in either the San Jose area or the Thousand Oaks, CA area.
Product Quality Engineer
We have grown and so has the need for a higher level of technical expertise of the individuals supporting the individual business units. The Quality Engineer adds value by addressing quality issues associated with the business unit they support in a timely manner, and with a level of technical expertise greater than ever before. In order to do this, employees need to have a high level understanding of electrical engineering which, in turn, will allow them to comprehend our product development process; the design, fabrication and characterization of product, as well as our overall testing process. The evaluation of product returned by customer involves electrical testing of product, understanding of how the product works electrically, and in some cases requires understanding of how the product works in customer application, before one proceeds with physical Failure Analysis.
The scope of this role includes the analysis of RMAs from customers, evaluating the viability of return and taking remediation action required. It involves working with business unit engineering teams and supplier quality engineering to resolve customer issues, resolve customer initiated corrective actions and work with business unit and suppliers as necessary to drive quality improvements. The candidate must make significant contributions to preventing quality issues and to making continuous improvements.
? Expedient and effective hands-on diagnosis of customer requests, issues on products, and from audit results.
? As a part of diagnosis, must evaluate customer data/inputs, electrical results, fab and assembly data as needed to get to root cause.
? Must assist in evaluation of devices as needed on bench set ups to diagnose customer reported issues.
? Report on progress internally within the company and externally to the customer in a timely manner.
? Analyze Customer Requests and supplier data to identify ways to prevent quality issues in future.
? Create and implement preventive and continuous improvement actions.
? Scrutinize and help improve new product development process.
? Review and gate NPI (new product development) process checklists for fulfillment of deliverables.
? Provide inputs into DFM, DFT and FMEA activities.
? Coordinate with Product/Test/ Application/Design teams to ensure effective remediation of issues.
? Work with Test, Product and Design team with a focus on maximization of effective test coverage to the datasheet.
? Assist in ISO and other certification activities.
RMA, FMEA, ISO, CAR, PAR, Continuous improvement.
? BS Electrical Engineering with 8 years of experience. MS in Electrical Engineering preferred.
? Solid Knowledge of semicondcutor product engineering fundamentals.
? Solid knowledge of semiconductor device physics, of CMOS and Bipolar technology.
? Ability to identify semiconductor device failure mechanisms.
? Seven plus years of demonstrated experience in at least one or a combination of product engineering, test, or design in a complex IC manufacturer environment.
? Effective communicator with the ability to interface at all levels within the organization, possessing a thorough written and verbal command of the English language.
? Travel May be Required: 10 to 20 %
